QuoteDust You are incorrect all it does is average out the measured points and define that as the ground plane, any dips it will not stick there, and any lumps the layer get squished I actually added an alternative to Auto Bed Leveling a little over a year ago, which I called Mesh Bed Leveling that actually can compensate for imperfect build beds. Quoteantoniobeta Hi, is there any way of use this metod without using the Eeprom? I think it should be possible, but then you will need to do the procedure every time you start or reboot the machine.by epatel - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Quotetimeshell Does this work in any version automatically with a probe yet? I don't see the need for manually doing this when a good probe is on the machine. Well, I recently made a minimal probe for my own printer and added some code for that. It does not support all the options the original auto bed levelling does, like offsets etc. But works quite good for me, and my RigidBot BIG with thby epatel - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Yes, I do agree that a perfectly flat bed is better than not. But, there are many other aspects that I think one might miss. 1) I.e. object warping that is common, this I think cause much more "errors" than this. 2) The common 8mm rods for the x axis bend due to extruder+hotend weight, this lowering the object in the middle of the x axis. This I have measured myself with a dial gauge and it iby epatel - Printing
I have been working on an alternative bed leveling feature. A mesh based one. It really helped me out because I have a RigidBot BIG that had a pretty bad build plate. Maybe it can help others?by epatel - Printing
Hi, Just updated it so now it should be possible to do this bed leveling without a display. This will probably also make it possible to add this feature on a smaller 644 system.by epatel - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I have just created a pull request of a method to do a bed leveling manually with the help of a display. The bed leveling is also using a mesh method. The normal way is a tilted plane but this uses a mesh of points and does a bi-linear calculation. You can read more about it here. It's pretty crazy but it really helps me out getting my newly built RigidBot BIG (with a bad build plate) workingby epatel - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Have you tried this?by epatel - General Mendel Topics
Yeah, I had these old Mendel parts laying around the house for a couple of years. I finally got around to build it guess not many original Mendels are built any more. Today I printed some parts to improve it. Starting to feel like a real RepRapper!by epatel - General Mendel Topics
Please note that if you are looking at my commit with the temp table I happened to commit the E step value I measured on my Huxley (910, default is 875). Line 405 in Configuration.hby epatel - Huxley
Yes, the problem with the temp reading was the temp table for type "8". Generated a new one with 100K, beta 4100 and R1=4.7K and this worked perfectly. Will commit changes soonish...by epatel - Huxley
Yes, am thinking of doing that too. But I also looked a little at the table values for type "8". It looks both short and a little off. I tried to generate a new table with the help of the values from the RepRapPro version (i.e. BETA=4100) and will maybe try that first. Note: Thanks for the blog link. Have missed that, but recognise the code which is maybe a little updated in the RepRapPro/Marlinby epatel - Huxley
This is great! I got both the new firmware running, just one little issue with the temp reading of bed, and got this manual bed leveling. But this bed leveling was just great. I first tried to print 9 small discs w/o fw update and leveling. It was very obvious the bed wasn't leveled enough. It was ok in the middle, where I have until now only printed a couple small pieces, but in one corner itby epatel - Huxley
Might be my mistake you are following I got, "NTCS0603E3104FXT" from Maybe that comment is wrong, I'll see if the value 4100 can shed some light. NOTE: Looked at your Configuration.h file, looks like you have entered 10 both for hotend and bed.by epatel - Huxley
Maybe get a complete kit? Looks like they have various pieces listed there.by epatel - Huxley
I have an older RepRapPro Huxley. Delivered early 2012 (I think). I built it a few weeks back, actually got it to print pretty good I think. One of the first things I did was to update the firmware to the current at But I am also looking into upgrading it with LCD etc. Have been looking into the latest Marlin at which seem to have a number of enhancements. Specially interesting did a pull requby epatel - Huxley
Here is my first stab at configuring it. It's a lot of parameters in there :-S. Not able to test it today, maybe tomorrow. Would be great if someone who know this machine (RepRapPro Huxley, late2011 or early 2012) could have a look. Edwardby epatel - Huxley
I think cajun-cat has a nice approach with a software assisted bed levelling feature. I really want to test this. But not sure what should be configured for a RepRapPro Huxley compared to what RepRapPro has done in their private Marlin repo. Motherboard 62 (for sanguinololu) Termistors RS198-961 for hot end and NTCS0603E3104FXT for bed. #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {91.429, 91.429, 4by epatel - Huxley
Thanks! Great to hear how others are doing it. Will give it a go.by epatel - Huxley
Not sure about the power but there are a little info hereby epatel - Huxley
I have updated the FW now and made a third print. Also checked the bed + pulleys and maybe the skipping before was because X pulley was a little loose. Any suggestions how to best/easiest level the bed and calibrate height/bed-hotend distance? Tried to have 1 sheet of paper distance first but when using Slic3r I have needed to almost get the hotend to touch the bed to get the print to stick (alby epatel - Huxley
Hi, Last week I finally got around to build my Huxley kit I bought back in 2011 (I think). It has been a bit of an internet archaeology to get instructions to build it but think I managed it pretty good. So far I have only made 2 complete prints. The vertex piece and a 30x30x3 mm piece. I have used Slic3r with the recommended ini files from reprappro. I am also only printing from the SD card.by epatel - Huxley
I like AC3D that also have quite good 3D text features It has a 30 day trial period and is fairly cheap.by epatel - General
I found this to be a good start (guess you have followed it already) Last on the page you will see where the nicron wire and the thermocouple should be connected. Building the tip is basically as this (even though it is for wood but you received the teflon version) As for the Cat5...I just looked at this video. Connect one end in the cat5 adapter near the power socket and the other one on thby epatel - Huxley
I have just posted my BotMill experiance as a separate topicby epatel - General
On January 23rd I placed an order for a fully assembled Glider 3.0 and 5 lbs PLA. It was advertised to be shipped within 7-10 business days. Which did not happen. The advertisement actually read BotMill's fully assembled, plug-and-play Desktop 3D printer. Ready for 3D printing: Take out of the box, plug in the power cord and USB and load a file to print. Many free extras included. Shipping: Thiby epatel - General
Sounds like a good idea. Will do that to be sure I at least have PLA when/if the machine arrives and is usable.by epatel - General
Thanks for the vid and information MrJohn! Today I received an email from botmill with a short message that there is a second package. But it's not clear if it has been shipped or what it contains. So I have no idea what to expect next week. If I receive the machine next week I'd like to have some extra PLA so I can start to print, and if it is not included I'd like to be able to make an orderby epatel - General
Well, here is a screenshot of the FedEx info. I can add that I have very little room for discrepancies from my original order. A Glider + 5 lbs Natural PLA. The Glider was supposed to have many extras included as a heated bed, tools etc. I have sent them one email asking what's up with that weight difference. No response yet. I have already payed $370 just for the shipping cost so I really hope tby epatel - General
I have finally received a tracking number from BotMill. Should be delivered late next week. Weight 17 lbs. I also ordered 5 lbs of PLA. Hope that is a believable weight. SHould also include tools according to what was offered when I placed my order on Jan 23rd.by epatel - General
