Recently, I have started assembling a new Prusa, and cannot get the sanguinololu to connect to pronterface. The port is correct and so is the baud rate, however, it will still not connect. Any help is much appreciated edit: here is the link to the exact kit I have started assemblingby morrist - Sanguino(lolu)
if anyone is interested in the air gap theory talked about by DGC Partworks, it often is called contact resistance in heat transfer by conduction. just to make your searches easier and hopefully give you better results. Morristby morrist - General
I think this is a great idea, good way to keep updated with the timesby morrist - RepRap magazine
Hello, so previously i was using repsnapper with techzone electronics (lol). now ive moved to pronterface, but cannot get a temperature reading. i am using sprinter firmware with a thermistor from makerbot. currently it is just reading a temperature of 5 c which i know must be wrong. is there a simple thing that i am missing? morristby morrist - General
i browsed through your wiki, just suggest you read about creep failure. could happen if you use plastic to support a load for a long time. not to discourage your project. good luck good sirby morrist - Developers
i bought some little crimp connectors for a telephone wire , think it was 24 or 26 gauge. i melted the rubber off and used those. seems to work wellby morrist - General
i have no connection to sdc publications , but i recommend their books for learning any cad package. i just bought the one for 2013 and it is of high quality. i used one of their books for learning wildfire pro engineer for a class. the book works on a project, teaches you in tutorials how to make it and why. by the end, you have a pretty good idea of how to use the program efficiently. well done. i enjoyed the story line added to the demonstration lolby morrist - General
my vote for the next big thing may be a new platform( some kinda arm or delta platform). and possibly a way to change tools( probe someday, extruder heads) .by morrist - General
@nudel, Thank you. when i searched earlier i came across others but not one like this that would work well with the mendel Morristby morrist - General
As far as wobble is concerned, are there any wobble constraints designed yet for the z axis of the original mendel? i think this is the last part of the puzzle to get my machine to have amazing resultsby morrist - General
well in the meantime il look into making sure it is half stepping, but most likely this summer i will upgrade to a different set of electronicsby morrist - General
so i just found this post so, it appears it cannot microstep. so hope this answers others questions on the topic, in the future i may look into different electronics soi can actually upgrade them.by morrist - General
Hello, just wanted to take a chance and thank the community for all the help in the past, i have been getting some pretty good prints. i am unfortunately still running techzone monolithic electronics. I was pondering getting motors so i could use microstepping with sprinter. i was wondering which motors one would use for microstepping? and if anyone has a source in the US that would be great.by morrist - General
still havent gotten around to adding the fan, and i have been considering adding a heated bed. Is there any kits or components the community is learning towards?by morrist - Controllers
thank you sublime, i will post the results tomorrow evening. i wont get time until tomorrow to try, morristby morrist - Controllers
my question is more of how to write it to a certain pin. i am familiar with the g and m code, but wasnt sure where on the board i would power a fan fromby morrist - Controllers
Hello, i have been using the techzone monolithic electronics with sprinter firmware. i would like to write in a bit of code so i may turn on a fan. i was wondering if this has been done and how. any documentation on it would be great Morristby morrist - Controllers
Just to kick it off, i am on the east coast. im sure others here are as well and would be interestedby morrist - General
hope this helps ps. there is two folders, one has a file to make your firmware, one of them is the firmware im using( same but with tweaks calibrated to my machine)by morrist - General
i sent you an email a while ago, did you ever get an email from me?by morrist - General
Hello aardvark, welcome to the community. i will try to answer some of the questions to the best of my knowledge. a few more on this forum will have some useful information as well. 1) If set at different tempatures, can the machine use other products like wax, chocolate, fast setting rubber or latex? for another 3d printer made by makerbot, there was an extruder for frosting. i dont see rubbeby morrist - General
cr4ck3r hello, and welcome to the community. building from self sourced ( buying all the pieces not in kit form) parts tends to be the general consensus within the community and can save you considerable money. I have built an original mendel and i am running techzone electronics. techzone is not a recommended company to purchase from. if you want to build the mechanical part more, i would sugby morrist - General
after the troubles i have had as well, it has taken me a year to get good quality prints from my techzone kit as well. I would like to second fusion's Note detailing the purchase of their productsby morrist - General
so if i get different steppers, than using the electronics i could use the microstepping?by morrist - General
I have recently got sprinter working well on my machine, and was starting to wonder as well where to start , to get microstepping setup.by morrist - General
so i have yet to change any of the settings and have been getting fairly successful prints. i have to move back to school tomorrow, so i will wait until then to take it apart and make more changes. but here are the pictures of the couple prints i have made. these are the best in quality that i have made, and i would like to thank the community for help received now and in the past.by morrist - General Mendel Topics
i noticed the PID section in the firmware, is that the general consensus in the community to use that type of control? im going to move the thermistor and see if i can get better results that way. It makes sense as they aren't very close to each other( the core and the thermistor). thanks for these suggestions, i will post how i make outby morrist - General Mendel Topics
hello, recently i have got sprinter to work on my techzone monolithic electronics. i added a thermistor from the approved list and i have been making a few parts here and there. but i am having huge temperature fluctuations that is preventing me from making more progress. any ideas on what might make the temperature vary plus or minus 10 degrees consistently?
