i wonder how much longer it will be until they can start to bring there costs down because of there increasing volume. i remember from one talk on the reprap that they said they are already shipping more units out than commercial unitsby dissidence - General
if i was that far i would be a willing subject, but i am no where near there yet.by dissidence - General
i am looking for gearing for my extruder, i was wondering how many people if any have tried or are using plastic gearing for there extruders, i have noticed that metal gears are not that cheap, but i would prefer it over plastic. my rc car that i have from more than a few years ago has plastic gears on it, and for the most part they have lasted a long time on it, and with the motor that has on iby dissidence - Mechanics
do you have a site for stock drive products.?by dissidence - General
i figured for less than half the cost of a ATmega128 it would not be a bad thing to fiddle with at the very least i all most spent that much on solderless bread boards aloneby dissidence - Controllers
i had a friend send me this link today i was wondering what other people thought of this unit, i am going to be getting one, i thought for the price it would be a good thing to play with at that price this is the article i read about itby dissidence - Controllers
i was thinking different voltages for one stepper and the same for others, i was thinking that would make it more complex to make the backplain thats more what i was thinkingby dissidence - Controllers
hmm i dont know about running each stepper at a different voltage, i think that would make it allot harder. but i would like to see a single power plug on the backplain so that it would be less clutter on the device overall. i am also thinking it might be a good idea to make some sort of power breakout board to feed the different boards the arduino and the backplain and so on,by dissidence - Controllers
who makes the replicatorG software then. thought i would have thought the reprap people would have been trying to get that end together has well, OSS is great but even it needs to workby dissidence - General
that would be great if you did that but i think it could be troublesome though. i think you might just be better off to carry some of there stuff in your online store.by dissidence - General
i was wondering if i would be better using my windows 7 box or one of my kubuntu linux boxes to drive my reprap with.?by dissidence - General
ah no worries, but i will get my project going first then i will try to learn how to do what i want. but i do think this was the better rout to go hardware wise. i think this will become the more common one soon,by dissidence - Controllers
i did order my aurdino mega board, so i am jus waiting for paypal now. but thank you for your advice, i hope that i can start to learn more about it soon. i don't think i will be doing too much fiddling with speeds just yet, i dont know why but i am inclined to try to use both the mega and and arduino one to just work the steppers and the mega to do the work, kinda like a duel core cpu, i am sureby dissidence - Controllers
i wonder if there ever will be a consensus on parts for this project, that is the one good thing about makerbot is that they can have one for there systems, and i think if it works well for them it will be adopted to a point here,by dissidence - Controllers
for my pulleys i was just going to use a bearing and a couple of washers. but that would be good we do not have one listed for the Canadian suppliers wiki page yet.by dissidence - General
has soon has i can i will test what i can for you, but it will not be too soonby dissidence - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
i am starting to pay more and more attention to this forum i need to learn allot of stuff like this too, i am still a newbe when it comes to electronics.by dissidence - Controllers
the main reason i like aka47's idea is that is seems nice and clean, and i think it is an easy way to keep things in there place. over all i rather like the idea. but you are right for the most part beaglefury i do think they are the same for the most part. one bad thing about stacking though is it can make it allot harder to add heat syncs if you need too. that is one area where the back plainby dissidence - Controllers
i just wanted to ask people on here what they thought the biggest improvement on. me i am the most excited for the design improvements on the extruder, i think there might be some good things going for the reprap project thereby dissidence - Reprappers
its too bad we could not try doing some stuff like this with the reprap it is about Evolution of Adaptive Behaviour in Robots by Means of Darwinian Selectionby dissidence - Robots!
i was thinking rc cars for a source for belts but i dont think there long enough now that i think about it. if your thinking its hard to find parts there, try living on small town sask an hour away from the nearest cityby dissidence - General
where is a good place to find nichrome wire for the extruder head, i am trying to find some of the fiberglass insulated kind but i have never looked for it yet.by dissidence - Controllers
i am starting to think that is going to be well worth my time to make a geared exdruderby dissidence - Reprappers
i would think all they would need to do is just give them to one store a better rate so that they could sell them closer to there cost in the us, they would sell more and save there customers money there. but i guess i can see there point. do i dare ask how many things you bought from them.lolby dissidence - Reprappers
i would like to add a small one, to display stuff like temp, and any errors that it gets, but i am also planning on putting on a few more temp sensors too, i would like to put them on the steppers too.by dissidence - Reprappers
i have noticed allot of people from the UK in here, i am surprised to see that makerbot is not considering putting up some sort of business there.by dissidence - Reprappers
i am glad to see how you are selling them at no profit i am curious to know how fast you can sell them.by dissidence - Reprappers
what may be better than a one piece mother board may be more of a back plain design so that you could replace each piece has needed, or up grade each piece has you go. i am trying to remember who had it for there stepper motor drivers he had a really nice shield design that was rather nice. i think that would be a better way to go over a one piece moboby dissidence - Reprappers
