i think that it may be a good idea to start a forum or a wiki page for canadian suppliers or at least ones that will ship to canadaby dissidence - General
i like the idea, but for me it would remove too much of the flexibility that i want. but i do think it is a good idea, i just dont know how easy it would be to beat makerbot they have a good kit and good price from all that i can tell.by dissidence - Reprappers
wrong on both counts, i am in canada. a small town about an hours south of the city of moose jaw Sask. me i was just going to see what a few second hand stores had here in town. the cheaper i can do it for the better for me any how. kinda sucks but its all i can do with my current wagesby dissidence - Controllers
good point i had to do some refreshing too, what i found was they say it is best in the warmer temperatures in a compost bin so i was not all that right, i wonder if i was not thinking about another plastic maybe. but thats good, so long has your compost bin is good and warm it will turn into water and co2 good news for us thenby dissidence - Reprappers
AT PSU's are hard has hell to get here now, though what i might do is try to find some smaller PC's and get there power supply out of them, they tend not to be any more powerful than 250 W 350 is about the lowest i seem to find new any how, though i am sure smaller ones are out there too. if you go looking. i have a friend in Portsmouth that has a computer shop.by dissidence - Controllers
ah thank you, i may end having to pay some one to do that for me though, seeing how i do not even have a drill press, but i was thinking i will go with a .8mm welding tip, though, that and i am planning on using a geared extruder, though i am stil trying to figure out how to build my repstrap. i rather do like your setup there, with your extruder tip and barrel. how much would you wand for a peekby dissidence - Mechanics
i was looking at bodgeit's blog and i noticed he was using a MIG welding tip for his extruder, how many people have done this and how has it worked out for them, have they had to modify it in any way.? other than the heating element on the out side of it, i was also looking at plasma cutter tips too they could work but i think they would need to have the hole drilled out in them too. and they wby dissidence - Mechanics
i don't know if i am right about this or not but has far has i know even PLA need very warm temperatures to properly decompose so it will not decompose very well in your average back yard composter.by dissidence - Reprappers
i am looking forward to this release has well, but i will be using the arduino mega my self so i hope that i can modify it my self to work on it, but this is good, i hope in time that a few more people will join in on cleaning up the code for all of the projectby dissidence - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
i was wondering if any one out there has tried these guys, it is dfrobot DFRduino saving money is one thing i have to do to the best of my ability so i think i am going to use this guy, it is a little cheaper, i would rather support the arduino guys if i could but i do have to keep my budget has tight has i can. dost not help me much when i don't even have a good soldering iron too. but i will fby dissidence - Sanguino(lolu)
thats a good idea, though i think some sort of stamp might be better, more readable at least.by dissidence - Reprappers
nice, looks very nice. makes mine look like it was beat with the ungly tree. its still a drastic work in progress but i am getting there day by dayby dissidence - Reprappers
i do like the idea of a geared extruder my self, thought i have noticed they are not too common. i am planing on making one for my projectby dissidence - Reprappers
oh that goes under one of the areas i have allot more things to learn about.by dissidence - Controllers
i did find this guy it seems to be the same has the arduino mega, but is a good chunk cheaper, so i am going to buy it this week i hope, gotta wait for the funds to transfer still. has any one else here used them before, from what i can tell they are a Japanese company and it is the same has the arduino mega. i am sure i can flash it with the firmware i would need if it was not the same alreadby dissidence - Controllers
i got an idea today but i dont know if you would add extra complexity for little return or not offer much improvement, but from what i have been reading one arduino even the faster ones have a hard time dealing with all the stepper motor math and doing everything else at the same time, so would it be worth the time to try to make controller board that just did, the X,Y,Z motions and the end stopsby dissidence - Controllers
what are other people using, i was starting to toy with the idea of a small atx psu but i would prefer something that was simpler over all and not overkill. though i think they would offer the best power for the dollar too.by dissidence - Controllers
i have been wondering about that myself has well.by dissidence - Controllers
still it is an idea i might pursue more in the future, i think it might have a few good uses in some areas, and even for just testing steppers. but it might be a good way to find backlash,by dissidence - Controllers
i have always wondered if there was a way to use a optical mouse has a encoder, but i also dont think it could take much for rpm but it might be worth a try for testing.by dissidence - Controllers
i was wondering about that too. thanks for askingby dissidence - Controllers
i would like to find more people who are interested in building a reprap too, but i am in a small town SK an hour south of moose jaw. but i would love to at least be able to communicate with other people that are interested in building oneby dissidence - Canada, Edmonton RepRap User Group
how much coding difference is there to use one of those stepper motor driver has well, or is it pretty much the same.?by dissidence - Controllers
i often wonder why they have opted to use the arduino over anything else, i know there are options out there that are cheaper and faster, and better overall. i know people are also free to do what they want too, i just have not seen a compelling argument for the arduino yet. other than its supposed to be open source.by dissidence - Controllers

thats always good to hear, i hope to use it to the best of my ability, though right about now i kinda wish i could get the same one they are using for a better price, yay for tight fundsby dissidence - Controllers
i can tell you have been at it allot longer than i have been the first ones i got to play on were my grampas and uncles 286's they had an older one than that that was one piece and had to load the old 5 1/4 in floppies i cant remember its name but it was just a mono green text screenby dissidence - Controllers
i mandaged to find some sanyo denki steppers .9 deg/step but i am still trying to find more info on them they only list there ohms and ded/step on them but there nice i got them out of the plotter, i have some pics of them on my blog, they are nima 17 ones i do know that much at least.by dissidence - Controllers
thank you, i am still learning allot about electronics, i am sure i will have a few more gaffs along the way, for that matter i still need to get more of the proper tools, witch i dont have the money for right now has well. but i will get them in time too.by dissidence - Controllers
it is a bigger unit so i do not think i can use it has is, but good point i didn't think of the encoders, it would be great if i could use some of the drivers from itby dissidence - Controllers
