I haven't looked closely at the software route, but do you have to manually copy the gcode from different files into one file and then print? When it's set up it should spit out bits like there's no tomorrow. Perhaps there is a simple "repeat" button? Then it could print z-leadscrew bases one night, then something else next night and so on.by Nudel - General
> I do know I'm very happy we'll have an > upload button soon; don't know if it will be you > or him. Well, the button is here already, so to speak. Just a small POV-Ray script which started out nicely parametric but descended into a little mess of manual tweaking, like usual with me. It's just a proposal, so please add your thoughts. In norway we call the chocolate block a sugar lump (sukkerbit). You always get a funny reaction when you have to explain that to someone for the first time. But I'd really expect anyone working in a electronic store to know what it is (together with the rest of their inventory). I had big problems getting the 2,3 and 6 way push connectors which came with my tech zone set to work at all. You areby Nudel - Reprappers
Nice work, I love it! That would definitively make uploading stl files simple, and more so if you have several files! Just tried it out, and it doesn't seem to read the files if it's inside a folder in the zip file, but otherwise it seems to work fine. What do you think about it also automatically uploading other filetypes in the zip? For example the source files like .scad .wings .svg and so oby Nudel - General
Just a guess, but in the 5D motherboard firmware configuration.h at line 150 you have: //our maximum feedrates #define FAST_XY_FEEDRATE 3000.0 Perhaps you can change it there and thus force it to 1000 mm/min? You can also set the feedrate in the preferences of the RepRap host. Are they ignored as well?by Nudel - RepRap Host

Tijnekind: There will soon be a new electronic set/board available from But you can also get the tech zone remix set from or a Arduino + Pololu version from And the endstop board should be easy to make on protoboard or stripboard. I haven't tried though. Wade: I'd like to exchange my endstops to switches, and I recall reading about it somewhere, but I can't find it. Is there by any chance aby Nudel - For Sale
> If I buy the material can someone print it for me? You could try your luck here. Or ask some of the people here. I believe 800k polygons is way overkill compared to the detail you can get from a diy 3D printer right now though. One of the better models I've seen is this one. 1) I don't recall the extruder blinking. But if you get the confirmed upload in the arduino software, so you should be good. 2) With power on (all leds on stepper board lit), you measure the voltage across one of the coils on the motor (black+green or red+blue, your motor might have other colors though), and then turn the pot a tiny amount you should be able to measure a voltage increase/decreasby Nudel - Reprappers
So, I've finally been able to follow this up, but I can't get the new extruder stepper motor to run. With great help from Kliment and araspitfire in the IRC channel, we've narrowed some things down, and I'll give a breakdown here. My Mendel is controlled via Repsnapper, and I can jog all axis, heat barrel and read temperature. The extruder stepper is exchanged with a known working one. Wiringby Nudel - Controllers
I have these belts from Stephen, and they are excellent. Stephen was even so kind as to send me a proper z belt, since I foolishly made an attempt to splice my own, which didn't work out very well at all. Thank you so much!by Nudel - Vitamin Kit for Sale

I've had this idea of a cheap heater for a while, and finally tried it it out. I salvaged the heating element from a $4.34 AC Coffee Warmer, and stuck it to the sweet Dibond FR bed from Clark with some thermal glue and a bit of kapton tape. I desoldered the original wires, as they felt a bit too flimsy, and ran it directly off 220v with a heavier gauge wire instead. After about 10 minutes theby Nudel - General
Hi You send the step and direction signal from to the motherboard to a fourth stepper board, which then drives the motor instead of the extruder board. Of course this would have you need another stepper board, and that would make the cost go up. There is a lot of threads in the forum about this, just have a look around. If you're going to use a separate stepper controller for the extruder motor, which is a good idea, you won't need the A3949 chips on the extruder controller. > The only supplier of bare PCBs seems to be > MakerBot.com.by Nudel - Reprappers

I don't remember about my newest PC, but the PSU in my old PC had a detachable 4 pin plug beside the 20 pin, like this: But if you get one which is not detachable, a few extra pins enclosed in plastic will not pose problems for a small hacksaw. *dremel smiley*by Nudel - Controllers

I just remembered I had to resolder the middle pin on two of my endstops, as it was loose because of a bad solder joint. So it might be an idea to check the connection there.by Nudel - Controllers

Thank you for the clarification nophead! Sounds like a good plan to use a separate driver then. So I'm now assuming I can simply hook up a stepper board from the "spare" electronics kit I have? If the pinout is like the picture below, it means SDA/Step goes to pin3, and SCL/Direction goes to pin 4, right? Perhaps the fried extruder board can still be used if I de-solder the smoking a3949 (orby Nudel - Controllers
Fried board? Well yes, sort of, I assume. One of the A3949 ICs is smoking. And smoking is bad for your health. I was testing the extruder with my tech zone electronics, and everything worked well. The nichrome heated up nicely (although gave off a bit of smoke in the beginning), and the thermistor supplied temperature readings just fine. But the stepper motor was running the wrong way. I thought the ooze problem came from the force applied to the filament itself, and not the bowden cable? As in the principle of pushing a cable instead of pulling it. I may, of course, be very wrong.
