- 16 years agoI like the design. Simple, clean, easy to read and straight to the point. Very nice! Good prices as well. The shipping to Norway is a bit of a killer for smaller orders though, but that's how it tend to be unfortunately. Best wishes with your shop!by Nudel - For Sale
I believe the 0 position is determined before (or after) every print, by moving the platform until the optoswitches triggers. Also, the RepRap host has a home button which does the same. Well, it's easy, but it takes some time. So it's probably not something you would like to do just for fun. The Z axis is simple, you just have to loosen 4 bolts and pull the the rod up. The Y axis I don't know personally, but it's similar, although readjusting it might be a bit tricky. The X axis is the worst, as you have to dismantle the Z leadscrew, and then take out and pretty much rebuild tby Nudel - General

I don't know how what kind of input a stereolithography machine uses. But wouldn't gcode for a RepRap be the exactly same size whether you generate it from NURBS or a high detailed triangle mesh? The only file that would be bigger is the "temporary" STby Nudel - General
nophead Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is OpenSCAD a mesh editor? I haven't used it but I > thought it was a CSG editor. My post seemed a bit confusing, so I edited it to clarify. OpenSCAD is a CSG editor, but exports a stl triangle mesh, in which you of course can control the level of detail. It does this with no regard to nice edge loops or good mesh flby Nudel - General
It's not like facets are going to limit the printer resolution any time soon. And you can increase the triangle count and detail in the stl file OpenSCAD exports, to insane numbers if you so please. sphere(r = 2); // normal sphere with 2mm radius sphere(2, $fn=100); // this will create a high resolution sphere with a 2mm radius I have limited experience with OpenSCAD, but personally I like to mby Nudel - General
That doesn't sound like a lot. Try attaching a bearing to a bolt and run it along the rod. If the scouring is even so it runs effortless and smooth, I don't see why it couldn't work? I personally don't worry about rust. If the machine rusts terribly in a few years, there will be several new, superior RepRap designs available anyway. Greetings from warm Norway.by Nudel - General
Good question. I believe Laszlo aka khiraly runs it, perhaps you can send a PM? What I'd like is a pure RSS feed, as Opera has a rather nice built in RSS viewer. Is that possible somehow?by Nudel - General
How deep are the marks? Perhaps you can sand it down? I got some scratches on one of the smooth rods on the y-axis, and the bed jumped a bit every time it passed it. But I sanded it down and turned the biggest mark away from the bearings, and it works fine now. Is there really a big chance of the metal rusting when the machine is kept indoors in a semi-controlled environment?by Nudel - General
I've had similar problems, so I now use Planet RepRap instead, which works great. The only thing I miss (or might have not found) is the ability to go back to older entries.by Nudel - General
Hi Since you cut to smaller lengths, a 1-3 mm even bend across 1 meter would only result in ~0.3-1 mm bend on most of the final lengths, which should be no problem.by Nudel - General
My point exactly! You can use your RepRap for so many incredible things, there's no need to restrain yourself to 'only' making RPG objects Welcome to the forum! And be sure to hang around and keep us posted on your progress!by Nudel - General
Welcome to the forum! I find it difficult to recommend one printer over the other, because I feel rather biased towards the choice I made, so I'll try to illustrate it. Some people like to buy their computers pre-built. They want a computer solely to use. They often don't care much about the details of what's inside the computer case, as long as someone has put together software and hardware thby Nudel - General

Hi all. I was wiring up my extruder yesterday with http://reprap.org/wiki/Extruder/Mendel as a guide. I felt some steps were a bit difficult to understand before I sat down and did them myself, so I took some pictures of the process, which might fit on the wiki. But I'm not sure I did everything right, so I'd love your opinions. The images are posted on another forum, don't know if the links wiby Nudel - Plastic Extruder Working Group
I have a Wade's. The most difficult step in the construction was hobbing the drive screw, which requires a vice, power drill, file and a M3 tap. Adrian's extruder instead uses a M4 insert with teeth, which you just drop in and know you get the proper grip. And Adrian's fits better with the x-carriage and constrains the axis less, if I understand it correctly.by Nudel - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hi, and welcome to the forums! Interesting idea and construction. Great picture as well! This would combine the x and z axis, right? But (and there always have to be one, sorry), wouldn't the rods that hold the extruder have to be rather long if you want a big build area like in Apollo? I'm no engineer, but say you want to move the extruder 20cm on the x-axis from the current position in the drby Nudel - General
Or if you're in a hurry, there is the method which this young gentleman applies: OT: fdavies: Sounds like a good idea. I believe recycling is one of the really strong points in favour of RepRap as a production method. But even though something is made from PLA, how do we know if they mixed in something "nasty", as in something that makes it impossible to use in a RepRap? http://reprap.org/wikby Nudel - General

Ultimachine sells a lot of different colors of PLA. And I believe somewhere it was possible to custom order PLA in any color if the order was big enough, can't remember who the supplier was though. Makerbot sells a lot of different colors of ABS, which is also usable by Mendel. You can use anything with RepRap, you just need the proper extruder for each material, which you might have to design,by Nudel - General
Great! A really elegant solution. Tried to make a simple carriage today. Didn't come out all that stable, but might be usable. Still waiting for belts and electronics to test it properly. Haha Love it! Brilliant idea with the angel brackets for the rest of the x-axis. I put up a few pictures of the y-axis on the wiki. You need the proper saw to cut the 30 degree angels, but it seems like you have that.by Nudel - General New Machines Topics
