Ben, Are you by chance anywhere near the West Midlands area? I have extrusions, Tnuts, end caps etc for a planned build I'm not likely to get around to anytime soon. Originally from KJN in the UK (note I think KJN a different M size to the Techpaldin spec). If you just want prices I think they have an online system which you can use to price up. Not so good for either, we have the builders in on the Monday, so last weekend to prep for that. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Mortimer, Yes looks out of alignment. I had the same problem, sorted by the group at the first meeting I went to. If its not too late when you remove the bolt photo it again anyway, the goove depth looks ok but 'U shape' on the ridges looks a little shallow, like my original rrks bolt, but not easy to tell from that pic. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Mortimer, >I'll get some pictures up soon, If you can a pic of your hobbed bolt might help. I had mine from the repRapKitstore, which clogged after a while. I replaced it with a deeper grooved one with improved results. The shallow grooved one I got back end of last year, RRKS may be supplying a different type now of course. Paul, Not an email, but to let you & the rest of 'the gang' know yes I intend to be there on the 26th. Looking forward to it. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Looks like you had a nice turnout in Exeter on Sat, good stuff! Brian, I got my z axis couplers from Nophead. If I was printing them I might try clear plastic, so you might see any gap opening up betwen the stepper & the threaded rod. Guessing the bit-of-monstrosity clamp on couplers are these: ali couplers ? Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Ok thanks, I can see it now in: Meliz big pic at full resolution theres a section saying 12-30V My board has a label covering that section. Mikeby 3D2B - Controllers
Thanks Annirak. I did a gogle search before posting and saw laptop PSUs, but the Amps seemed low compared with the 22A of my hacked ATX supply. Is there a minimum amp rating I should be looking for ? (Would like to be able to run heated bed as well as the usual steppers & hot end). Mikeby 3D2B - Controllers
I power my RAMPS 1.4 board from a computer ATX power supply, hacked by following some online instructions, gives +12 V at up to 22A, so no problem. I've now acquired a Melzi Ardentissimo board, according to the wiki it needs +19V Melzi wiring So what's the straightforward / resonabie price way to get +19V input ? Thanks in advance Mikeby 3D2B - Controllers
dustynus / aplavins Thanks for the replies, I'd actually stopped looking at this thread, having moved on to other challenges. But yes putting a fan on is on my Prusa-to-do list. Having other fun at the moment with z axis lash. Mikeby 3D2B - Printing
Rich, Back now, chilling out. Sorry couldnt stay for the evening chili & natter, hope you managed to scoff it between you!. Useful day for me with a pointer to the z axis to fix & some more ideas etc. Thanks again for hosting & pass on thanks to your mate for the use of his house. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Rich, Looking forward to tomorrow, see you then! Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Planning a MendelMax 1.5 build, using 8mm instead of the usual 10mm rails looking at the thingiverse for MM 1.5 files: MM 1.5 STL files theres files for these RP parts: Z_lower_motor_mount_10mm 'Z_lower_motor_mount_10mm_support 'normal' quantity 2 Z_lower_motor_mount_10mm_support 'mirrored' qantity 2 I've found a replacement for the stl file for: Z_lower_motor_mount_10mm with: Z_lower_moby 3D2B - Reprappers
Rich, sounds great, PM me with the address please. I have an idea I'm batting around, I'll PM you, see what you think. Thanks for organising the get together. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
Cameron, Thanks, that's what I needed to know. Printed the first MM 1.5 part yesterday. Mikeby 3D2B - Reprappers
I have all the parts for a MendelMax 1.0 (the original build intention), except the printed parts. So at this stage I could readily switch to a MM 1.5 build, but this : MM 1.5 BOM bill of materials refers to laser cut parts ie: bearing mount cross member insulation clip rod mount fixed rod mount float table support table attachment y rod mount jig Looking around e.g.: MM store MM 1.5 builby 3D2B - Reprappers
Pleasure to meet up with you all yesterday. Thanks for the efforts with my Greg's extruder and to Hamish for the hosting. Home in time for the 2nd half of Spain/France. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG

Hamish, Great stuff, thanks for organising this. Look forward to being there & meeting the 'gang'. I can remember the road, but could you PM me the house number ? Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG

Hamish / Paul, Thanks for pushing this along some more. Either of your locations are ok for me. I checked out a venue near me, but turned out it was for min of 50 people. Would have had to pay anyway. Looking forward to another meetup. Mikeby 3D2B - West of England RUG
I tried the Z lift (0.3 mm = layer height) instead of my idea to mod the HBP. I also got impatient & increased speeds by 10mm across the board. Generally improved. This time about half way up before they started to come off. Bed then at 67 when the first one came loose. On the right lines, will try some more on the weekend.by 3D2B - Printing
Ok, tried with 4 at once. About a quarter way up one, then another, came away from the bed. At that point bed temp = 65 reported (edge of the PCB under the mirror glass). Neverthelss, what did get printed looks better than before, so I suspect its on the right lines. I have an idea to improve the HBP insulation, so will try that next and go for 4 again. Trying to print the Prusa bar-clamp. After a few goes, this is the best so far: Size is about 25mm long in the first pic. Prusa Mendel, printing on heated mirror glass 3mm thick, set to 70 deg C in pronterface. 3mm PLA (glacial blue from faberdashery). 0.5mm nozzle. temp set to 182 deg for hot end 40% infill, perimeters, solid infill at 10mm/sec. Infill & bridges at 20mm/sec. travelby 3D2B - Printing
Ken, >Also, is there a reference that describes what each of the parameters in Slic3r do? Most of them are obvious, but others I'm >not sure about, specifically "First layer height ratio" and the effect of the "Nozzle diameter". Also "Extrusion width" in >Advanced. I found Slic3r is nicer link a great starting point. Mikeby 3D2B - Printing
I had trouble with my HBP taking ages to heat up. I tried chaging the cabling from the psu with no effect. In the end I swapped in a mark 2 PCB to replace the one I had and there was a immediate improvement. >With that being said, I do have a 1/8 piece of glass over the bed and the thermistor is taped to the top of that on a >corner. I adjusted my slic3r settings for 'fast' , set to 40% infill on most parts and layer height of .25mm as per Mkouri's note above. Loaded the files into pronterface and added up the estimated times: Top_Vertex_X_4_off.stl 64 (ie 4 x 16 mins = 64 mins) Lower_Vertex_Middle_4_off.stl 112 Z_Motor_Mount_2_off.stl 102 Y_Rod_Mount_2_off.stl 88 Top_Rod_Jig_70mm.stl 25 Top_Vertex_X_logo_optional.stl 21by 3D2B - Reprappers

Chris, Good to 'meet' you. Enjoyed the intro video. I've thought a few times a 'hello & intro oneself' forum would be generally good. Cape Cod rings a bell with me not sure why. Could google it but maybe let someone tell me. Best wishes, Mikeby 3D2B - Reprappers
