Hey Guys. Looks like it was a calibration issue. I swear everytime I use the reprap calculator it gives me a different value haha. But its pretty dead on now. Within .2-.3mm which Im pretty happy with on a prusa. Thanks for the help everyone. I appreciate it!by prcdslnc13 - General Mendel Topics
It looks to be a calibration issue. This is the 25mm hollow calibration cube. As you can see the x axis is pretty much dead on, or as close as I trust digital calipers to measure, and y is off quite a bit. I swore I had this all straightened out. Ill mess with my step settings tonight and get back to you guys. Thanks alot!by prcdslnc13 - General Mendel Topics

Hey guys! I have a prusa mendel running marlin on a ramps 1.4. Im using gt2 belts with 20 tooth pulleys on xl belt on Y with an 11 tooth pulley. There is no measureable backlash on x or y when measured with a .001" indicator. my circles are still coming out as ovals though and its driving me nuts. The x axis seems to be the issue though, the long axis of the ellipse traverses the y axis. I am bby prcdslnc13 - General Mendel Topics
My power supply is adjustable and I have it cranked up to about 12.5v That said, I havent checked the voltage drops. I will check them out when I get home today. I Currently dont have any fans or cooling over my pololu's but have considered the need and May look into adding them this weekend as well. What voltage is the ramps board safe too? I have a separate 19v power supply I could add to theby prcdslnc13 - RAMPS Electronics
I was planning to order some teflon and some tygon tubing to play with different hot end designs so I may throw a pound of this in too...by prcdslnc13 - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Ill re check them again. I also have continuity between them through the board. I check the resistence and its 1.2 at the solder joints and 1.3 at the ramps board. I am using 12 ga speaker wire for the connection between both the hotend and the heated bed. I was originally using 18ga but I got rid of it when I realized that my wire was heating alot.by prcdslnc13 - RAMPS Electronics
No I havent, Honestly I dont know what it should read. If you know I can check it when I get home.by prcdslnc13 - RAMPS Electronics
Its way cheaper then most of the plastic suppliers Ive seen, granted it only comes in two colors but heck 12$ a pound??by prcdslnc13 - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hey Guys, Im having problems with my heated print bed. I am using the Prusa PCB with a ramps 1.4 and a 12v switching Power supply. The problem is no matter how long I let it go I can never get over 90c on my bed and Im having a hell of a time getting abs to stick reliably. The bed usually gets to about 90c at the center and towards the edges as low as 75. Ive tried insulating the bottom of the PCby prcdslnc13 - RAMPS Electronics
Anymore input on this?by prcdslnc13 - Plastic Extruder Working Group
It really would. I have it slightly better now. I releveled my bed using a .060" dial test indicator, and that helped some. But Im still having issues. No one can help?by prcdslnc13 - Printing
Hi, I just finished my prusa and am having some issues as I build up my layers. As you can see in the picture my layers seem to seperate on the outside as they go up . I am printing with a .4 nozzle at 245C with 50% infill. Im currently having trouble getting my print bed to temp and it will only get to about 90C before it peaks, I have no idea whats going on there. Im curious if ambient tempby prcdslnc13 - Printing
Im not 100% how i got it working but i did. Here's a couple problems i know I had. 1. I did not install the USB driver in Windows 7. Once I did this I was able to get arduino 1.0.1 to communicate. I never did get Windows 8 working. 2. In ubuntu i needed to add myself to a group. I thought that had been taken care of as I installed through the software center. I still am not able to use prontby prcdslnc13 - RAMPS Electronics
Hi I'm new to 3D printing and the reprap world but not to cnc and arduino. I started assembling the motors and endstops for my prusa this weekend and wanted to test them with my RAMPS 1.4 board. This is a pre-built board from ultimachine and has sprinter pre-loaded. I connected 1 motor to the board just to test with and tried to connect to the board with pronterface. I hit the connect button thby prcdslnc13 - RAMPS Electronics
Im planning to use a Bowen cable and mount my extruder elsewhere so heat there shouldnt be an issue. But I do see what you mean about the aluminum possibly robbing heat from the heater block. Ill have to take a closer look, But maybe Ill just buy my first hot end...by prcdslnc13 - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hi, Im new here and to 3D printing but not to machining. I have a CNC router and mill that Ive built and a lathe, so I was hoping to make a majority of my parts myself for my first printer. Ive looked at many of the different hotend designs and like the J-head alot, but was wondering if there was a need for the nozzle holder to be make from PEEK or if I can make it from 7075 aluminum.
