Hi It would really help if you could attach the marlin files configuration.h and configuration_adv.h, and a picture of the motor wiring to the ramps board. That way it will be a lot easier to troubleshoot it. Can you describe more in detail how you manually moved the axis? like step by step menu selection on the 3D-printer. I had some heat generating to once, but that was becase of to smale(to little cross section, mm^2 SI, AWG Imperial) wires from the ramps board heatbed ports too the psu.by jatmega - RAMPS Electronics
Sorry for using a long time to update this. I solved it a long time ago but I think it is worth posting my solution for other who might be in the same problem. The problem was that I had not connected my endstops and that resulted in them to be triggered in the software stopping my x-axis from running at all. Nice printer I would try to put some fireproofe insulation beneeth the heatbed. It should bring it up the extra few degrees i belive. It made a HUGE difference on mine. Basicly that will give youre heatbed one side to heat and not two, so much more wattage for the uppwards facing side. I used what we in norway calls GLAVA. It is a bit like rockwoll, so that should propably work. just make sureby jatmega - RAMPS Electronics
Hi What is your physical setup around the heatbed? I also had a problem when trying to get higher than 70C at first, but after putting "glava"(rock insulation) beneeth the heatbed and the plate beneath it it now warms up to 120C even though it takes some time. Hi I made a makeshift ad595aq thermocouple board from the recipe on the wiki. After some time I got it working, but it displays a lot of different readings. they can jump from 0 to 180 in an instance. My research indicates that this has to do with electrical noise, anyone else got any problem with this? JATby jatmega - RAMPS Electronics

Hi I bought a tb6560 based motordriver and hooked it up to my owrk in progress 3D printer After some testing i found the motor to stall and making weird sound when i changed rotational direction Since i had allowed for full 1 Amp, i thought this was weird since it shuld be more than strong enough, so I started to messure the voltage over the coils at the stepper motor. Hi I am building myself a RepRap much like the Mendel90 but a bit bigger. My project will eventually have a build volume (.5x.5x.5)m To do this i need quite long linear rods, 740mm. These was quite expensive, so i wonder if i might could use pipes instead? I want to use 16mm pipes with 2 mm thick walls. Is there anyone that has experience with this? will it work or will it sertantly fail?by jatmega - General

Hi I bought some stepsticks on ebay a month ago and was going to test them today, but it was kind of easier said than done... I went to the stepstick page on reprap.org and got to the place where you are told to turn the trimpot all the way anticlockwise. I started turning, and kept on turning and turning and turning until I realized that there was no end to this turning. The trimpot got a notcby jatmega - Controllers
Once again thanks for a quick answer. I believe that the motors might be strong enough if i drive them at 1.-1.5 amps, and might even at 1 amps. It all comes down to lubrication. I dont have any big or heavy parts to move, it should be nearly the same as a mendel, but i just wanted the added precision/resolution that i could get with threadrods. Hi To get to the poin look in the last section. I am building my first 3D printer and I was stupid enough to buy some weak stepper motors for the job, nema 17 .4Nm at 1.7 Amp. To add to this stupidity I bought 5 stepstick controllers who only supports 1 amp atm, and I dont have the money to re build them to support 1.5 amps.
