Ok.....so even with the full time fan the ptfe melted. i was only running my hot end at 220c and don't know how it happened but when i looked over at the print the ptfe was distorted and the rest of the hot end had fallen out of the ptfe.. when i poked the ptfe with some pliers it was soft and bendable...i know my hot end temp is right because if i lower it a few degrees the abs wont extrude. woby sage19175 - For Sale
Cura works good...but the first time i tried to print with this new setup....pronterface quit. this is what i get in terminal. sage@computer:~/Pronterface/Printrun-master$ ./printerface.py bash: ./printerface.py: No such file or directory sage@computer:~/Pronterface/Printrun-master$ ./pronterface.py WARNING:root:Memory-efficient GCoder implementation unavailable: No module named gcoder_line Coby sage19175 - General
OK pronterface works great! I love it!.... But I can't get Slic3r to work on my computer...any other slicing softwere that's worth trying? Thanks! Sage.by sage19175 - General
Thanks for the info on MONO I guess that wasn't what messed up my system. But....what is the best firmware to use with a reprap discount smart controller? Don't know if it makes a difference. But it seemed like some might run smoother. Sage.by sage19175 - General
Yeah...it messed up my system too. Will look at pronterface. Any suggestions for firmware? Thanks! Sage.by sage19175 - General
I have a RepRap and was wondering what you guys think is the best host and firmware for a Linux laptop and a Ramps/arduino based printer is. I am currently using Repetier Host and firmware.... But the Linux version has sooooo many problems and only rarely works... All input is appreciated! Thanks!by sage19175 - General
Sorry i can't upload any pictures it keeps saying "connection reset" But the shift is pretty bad, It will make it off the bed before it finishes a print. Also it is always in the X+ direction. I have had this problem before on the y axis but it was simply a matter of adjusting the pololu. Sageby sage19175 - General
Hi everyone, I have a bad x axis shift that i can't figure out how to fix I have tried switching stepper drivers. and i have heat sinks and a fan on my electronics. when it shifts the x motor just doesn't move for about 8-10 mm, it doesn't buss or try to move at all. I am running my printer from a RepRap discount smart controller only. At the moment my lubuntu laptop decided to stop working withby sage19175 - General
I would like some help with this. I need to have my printer working within the next few weeks or at least before Maker Faire next month that I will have my printer in.\ So i really would appreciate some input. this is the link, it is in the Ramps section of this forum. power trouble And the last post on this one is mine. this is also in the ramps section on this forum end stop Thanks! Sageby sage19175 - General
I have also done the same thing. Do you think that is what is causing this problem? power trouble Sage.by sage19175 - RAMPS Electronics
I use a 30A switching power supply i bought on Ebay. I have a reprap discount smart controller. I am using Reepetier 0.91 firmware with 0.91 Linix Repetier host I have Ramps1.4 on a Arduino mega 2560 clone. The power comes in at the normal place on the Ramps board. Thanks for the reply! hi everyone, I am having trouble with power on my home built Prusa i2 Whenever I have it connected to the computer threw a USB cable but don't have my power supply on it works as normal. I have a smart controller that also works as normal while being powered by the computer. But when I turn on my power supply the printer stops communicating with the computer and my smart control or goes dim to wby sage19175 - RAMPS Electronics
Also, I will be using a full time fan on the hot end. So it shouldn't be a problem for me, But would there be any way to increase the structural rigidity. I would think it would be better if you didn't leave it to the PTFE to hold the whole thing together. Best of luck! Sageby sage19175 - For Sale
I just bought one, hasn't arrived yet. It said i bought the last one! I will mainly just be using ABS. Should i consider oiling it too? Looks like a interesting design, I like that you can buy most of the things at a hardware store! Good luck!by sage19175 - For Sale
here are some pics before and after i fixed it. when i went to put on the new parts i found out that the part that had melted had also burnt part of my board. That is what you see in the some of the pics. So i soldered a jumper wire where it had burnt. After i got my printer back together i was trying to to set my configuration.h to the one given above by cfy7, And i managed to accidentally deleby sage19175 - Repetier
Thanks I will try this as soon as i get my printer fixed. (i burnt up a turminal block on my ramps board, a wire jumped the section for the heated bet and melted it. but i have replacement parts on the way) Also should i be consurned about the rest of my electronics? They still seems to work ok. Sageby sage19175 - Repetier
Also I forgot, but my x-axis doesn't home properly, it seems to only move tord the end stop how ever much it likes and usualy takes several times of hitting home for it to get there. but some times will make it all the way and will home properly. Thanks in advance! Sageby sage19175 - Repetier
Hi everyone! I am havving some trouble with my smart controller, it won't read sd cards. it will say "sd card inserted" but when i go to the sd card i won't see any of my g-code files i have on it. other wise it works fine. I have never printed with the smart controller, Do i kneed to chane somthing in the code other than to check "enable reprap discount smart controller" Another problem i am hby sage19175 - Repetier
For some reason nothing is working, i chaneged the EEPROM_MODE value and the baud rate and re uploaded and then matchet them in repetier, but still won't except any thing just "6 commands waiting" or what ever the amount i have tried to send. does this make sense? Thank you Sageby sage19175 - Repetier
Hi, everyone. I seem to be having some sort of connection issues. I am using arduino mega / ramps 1.4 and i recently switched to the newer version of RepetierHost (0.95F) The trouble is that my printer will connect but won't except any commands, this has happened to me before so i figured it was a problem with baud rate. so i changed the baud rate in printer settings and it still didn't work, buby sage19175 - Repetier
Yes thank you i tried slicing outside of Repetier and it worked ! I don't think i will bother withe the problem anymore. I also like the idea of slicing in slic3r outside of Repetier. Also thank you i didn't know about the other parts of this website! Sageby sage19175 - General
Hi everyone, I seem to be having trouble with Slic3r,I am using Repetier-Host v0.90C with the built in Slic3r and every time i try to slice something i get this message, I could not find the generated G-code file Possible reasons: -the slicer had an error and didn't finish slicing.Check log output. -the slicer stored the file with an unexpected filename. I figured it out i had a fan on the whole thing that was cooling the fan down faster than it could heat up! Thanks for the help Sageby sage19175 - General
I don't think i have a bad heater because i don't get any power when it is supposed to be heating. I feel like it is the resettable fuse due to how i can get it working again. my power supply is putting out the right amount of voltage(12.40v) baud rate 76800(supposedly best for arduino) really don't want to change the fuse And also is it normal for a complete beginner to fight there machine foby sage19175 - General

Thank you for the responses i am using ramps1.4 with arduino mega 2560 Also Thank you Azrael it worked! I am now REALLY printing The only problem i am having is that every once in a while my hot end stops working and i have to shut every thing off for a little while. Hay every one I finally got my printer working! The problem is that my printer thinks my print bed is larger than it is And it moves about 12mm when I ask for 10 , making all my prints larger and so none of my Filament is touching( I have empty spaces in between my extruded filament) My z motors are moving the right distance though.
