Replaced my thermistor and hooked everything back up. Problem is SOLVED. Thank you very much!! cdru, my mind was thinking JB Weld and I was typing plumber's putty. Plumber's putty would be such a great mess to clean up. Since I have all my tools out I went ahead and picked up 15A and 5A automotive blade fuses. I kind of like this RAMPS fuse replacement method.(See photos near the bottom of tby Miterez1 - RAMPS Electronics
I took a reading on the Mosfet pin and I didn't get 5V. I'm planning to order this based upon posts that I have read stating that the current RAMPS MOSFET heats up much higher than these. I checked continuity on my thermistor and I'm getting nothing. The good thing is that I have an extra one sitting around. Now the real question is how do you carefully remove the small glob of plumbers pby Miterez1 - RAMPS Electronics
I rechecked D8 and both pins are 12V. The fuses are not touching each other. I decided to check for any physical damage on the bottom of the shield or the Arduino board and saw nothing wrong. At this point the printer has been off for many hours. Still no power to the bed. FWIW, I have always had a fan blowing across the entire RAMPS board. Is it possible to test the FET in-circuit?by Miterez1 - RAMPS Electronics
Hello all, I have been using my printer for several months now. I just recently printed a part that took 22 hours and then after about an hour break I printed another part that took 7 hours. During both prints everything worked just fine. When I went to preheat for my next print I got no temp. change on the heated bed. First, my RAMPS board is from reprapdiscount. LED 2 is NOT lit. WOW, E-Z Fuse Tape and the small hole added to the fan duct really makes a difference. I turned down my layer temp. to 190 and I'm getting great results. Yes, that is a genuine J-Head from hotends.com. I bought all of my supplies last January and February. Daily life has just seemed to consume all of my time.by Miterez1 - Mendel90
Just recently got everything up and running. I decided to do a larger print and each time the filament is jamming up. Once I disassemble it I'm seeing that the filament looks like it is swelling above the extruder.(Pics.) I'm printing PLA @ 210°C with J-Head IV B on my Mendel90. Using Pronterface and Slic3r. Any suggestions? Is this common? Admin, if this needs moved please feel free toby Miterez1 - Mendel90
I ordered mine from If I recall the largest piece they had was 10" x 12". It ends up being too short, but I just cut a few strips and spliced them with Kapton tape.by Miterez1 - Mendel90
Well I made it!!!!!!!!! A big thank you to isolt. Your files pushed me a little bit closer to the finish line after I made some tweaks for calibrating my Mendel90. Of course then I had to do some reading up on Slic3r, but I printed my first piece. Below are the results. I printed the 20mm cube so that I could measure how much I'm off on the print using my current settings. The issues to beby Miterez1 - Mendel90
I would definitely appreciate seeing what you've got. Honestly, if it ends up being too much of a hassle to deal with the lcd I will probably go with nophead's version for now.by Miterez1 - Mendel90
I'm thinking the same thing. I will just use your fork instead. I do have an lcd from reprap discount and sd card for my ramps. As long as I can use those I'm switching over. The same could be said if I were to do the whole thing over again, I definitely would have just purchased your entire kit. But, then I would not have enjoyed all of the headache trying to source the parts myself.by Miterez1 - Mendel90
I'm no wizard, but I found the following links beneficial. You just have to keep in mind that the videos are GUIDES and not a definitive answer to your particular printer/issues. Yes, I have a Mendel90. I've found Nophead's documentation and these videos to demonstrate the GENERAL process of calibration helpful. I'm using RAMPS 1.4 so I've had to dig around the internet a little more to gby Miterez1 - Mendel90
Ok, I made some serious progress(at least I think it's progress). Jumpers were put in for all of the necessary limit switches. Got everything up and running. Ran through the checklist according to the Mendel90 pdf. No problems here. I leveled the bed using the piece of paper method. I skipped over the extruder calibration for the time being until I can bum some filament from a friend. My issuby Miterez1 - Mendel90
Wow, I'm finally at the stage of setting up the firmware. I have several questions and just want to verify some setting changes that I have made to get started. I downloaded the latest version of Marlin and used nophead's Marlin configuration (https://github.com/nophead/Marlin/blob/Marlin_v1/Marlin/Configuration.h) as a guide to my setup. My main concern right now is checking that I have theby Miterez1 - Mendel90
Sorry Ralph, see my previous updated post just above your reply. I was trying not to clutter the forum by posting all of my questions in one thread.by Miterez1 - Mendel90
Been a very long time since I had a chance to work on this, been busy with getting ready for the birth of our second kid. Anyway, I just recently put together the the hotend/carriage assembly/fan assembly. When I installed the carriage assembly I noticed that the belt kept slipping. This reminded me of one little problem that I tried to address a while back, the NEMA 17 motors that I purchasedby Miterez1 - Mendel90
They don't fit with the pcb's. That's really what got me going on this goose chase. So nophead, what you're saying is I really could just desolder these switches from the pcb and use them provided I just hook up the switch to NC and COM?by Miterez1 - Mendel90
Greetings all, Let me start by saying that I'm a super-newbie and my career is not even remotely related to electronics or programming, so please forgive me if my questions may seem pathetic. I'm an art teacher. I'm currently building my Mendel90 and I decided to go with the RAMPS 1.4. I purchased the RAMPS Ultimate kit from reprap discount. It includes 3 mechanical endstops and 3 hall endstby Miterez1 - Mendel90
