Well, the reason for adjusting the stepper driver voltage is to limit the current delivered to the motor. I think that the best way to do this is by calculting a reasonable setting and set the voltage to that value and if it work, perhaps lower the value so that the driver produces less heat. If the motor is not running or is missing steps with the current value, the value might have to be increaby hal - RAMPS Electronics

Have you tried adjusting the voltage on the stepper drivers? I believe that my problem with the X axis was partially caused by an overheated stepper driver (for the X axis) and the fact that the GT2 wheel on the NEMA 17 motor was not tightened enough which caused the X carriage to slip sometimes. Thanks for the reply! I have fiddled around with the stepper drivers a bit by exchanging the X and Y drivers and resoldered the pin headers on the stepper driver boards and that seems to have resolved the issue. At least I managed to print some calibration objects without any of the axis stopping I hope that this problem wont happen again. Hi! I am about to start printing/calibrating my first 3D printer build. The machine is based an Prusa i3 Rework and build with mainly (cheap) chinese components, wantai motors, E3D hotend, RAMPS 1.4 with DRV8825 steppers and a modified ATX psu. I also have a 80 mm fan attached on top of the electronics. The firmware I am using is Marlin and for host software I am experimenting with both Pronterfby hal - RAMPS Electronics

I experinced the same (reading of 499 degress) before actually connecting a thermistor to the RAMPS board and enabled the temp sensor setting in the Marlin configuration so I do not think you have to worry about this since it is a dummy value set in absence of a real sensor value. To get a "real" value, make sure to connect the extruder thermistor to the RAMPS board, enable the temp sensor in thby hal - RAMPS Electronics

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply and advice on how to connect the cables Using the GND pins I managed to find out the correct plug directions but I still had nothing visible on the display (only blue background). By looking at the serial console I could verify that the SD card reader was at least partially working by inserting a SD card in the reader and verify that "SD card ok" was written toby hal - RAMPS Electronics

Hi, I'm also in the middle of building my first printer and I am experiencing the same problem with a display that lights up but doesn't display any text. I am using the same type of display (Robotale clone) bought from aliexpress together with an arduino and a RAMPS 1.4 board (also clones). One thing I noted on my display was that the cable connector guides on the back of the LCD controller waby hal - RAMPS Electronics
