Where to get a decently dark grey filament? My printer came with a tiny reel of grey filament which was a mid grey. I have bought "dark grey" several times and it always arrived as pale grey. One problem is few advertisers or manufacturers give a decent indication of the real colour of a filament. There seems to be a RAL standard, and machines to measure colour and greyscale of things, but no meby Tryit - Printing
Figured it out! Unfortunately prints were still failing with thermal runaway errors. After many false trails I found the external MOSFET board was working intermittently. Once I got to looking at the rear of the board I found one of the terminals had a dry solder joint. It now works! Discovered after having ordered replacement - oh well!by Tryit - Controllers
Briillint! Schoolboy error I was testing having removed the bed from the machine. Wired it up and it appears to be to be working !?!?!by Tryit - Controllers
I modified the electronics on my FLSUN I3 plus to incorporate a different power supply and added an external mosfet to the heater bed output. I also added a economy controller as well as the TFT touch screen. This worked fine. However during a print today I had a thermal runway message. Now there seems no output from the MKS GEN_L board. Is there a way to fix this? Do I need to buy a new boardby Tryit - Controllers
I think with the glass on the bed the 4mm probe is too close to the bed so I ordered an 8mm probe. The probe does not appear to be faulty.by Tryit - Prusa i3 and variants
Does nobody else get these Z axis crashes?by Tryit - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi, My FLSun I3 + printer has an annoying habit of occasionally failing to stop when homing on Z axis. So far I have been lucky and noticed and stopped the machine, but inevitably this happened when I didn't realise for a little while and the Acrylic sheet carriage has split. I am not really sure what actually stops the machine completely destroying itself! What advice? I feel some kind of senby Tryit - Prusa i3 and variants
Well the mosfet installed and first print just fine. No crashes. Second print and I found the power supply making a fast ticking noise and all was dead, including the power supply - though no visible signs of damage inside or out. Replaced with an old PC power supply and all sprang to life and seems good so far after a couple of prints....by Tryit - RAMPS Electronics
HI, My flsun i3 plus works well but has an annoying habit of randomly rebooting as the bed heats up before printing starts. What would you do? I am thinking this might be momentary power shortage to the arduino mega. So if I added a biggish - say 1000uF capacitor across GND and 5V somewhere (e.g. near USB connector) would that be likely to work? The MKS Gen L v1.0 board seems to be RAMPS 1.4by Tryit - RAMPS Electronics
SOLVED With little knowledge of Marlin and Roxy's help I found a way to get debug messages: Add "print" statements something like this: SERIAL_ECHOPGM("Text: "); SERIAL_ECHO(VariableName); SERIAL_EOL(); Not really sure where best to put these - depends what you are trying to see but I inserted these in the gcode M115 (show Marlin version etc.) instruction interpreter. This is in Marlin_main.by Tryit - Firmware - Marlin
It works! After hours dipping into marlin code debugging etc. it turned out the fan manufacturer had put the connector on the wrong way round! Thanks for your helpby Tryit - RAMPS Electronics
Trying to see if I can figure this out - I am looking to find out how to send debug messages from marlin.by Tryit - RAMPS Electronics
How can I add a simple bit of code to "see" what marlin is doing? I'd like to know if I can send to LCD screen as well as via serial to a connected PC running repetier. I imagine a serial println command?? I want to check the values of some config variables and #define values. Thanks!by Tryit - Firmware - Marlin
I can't actually get my cooling fan to work see This thread and I guess this may well be a problem with my understanding of Marlin, but I was also wondering... How clever is the cooling function? does it cool more when layers have less extrusion? My first 3d printer experience was building a tronXY P802M for a friend. The part cooling fan on this seemed to have a little life of it's own changinby Tryit - Firmware - Marlin
Hello my first post here so be gentle! I have built a FLSun I3 plus and, with some modifications, it works OK. I added a part cooling fan and plugged it in to the "Fan" / "D9" socket (= arduino D9 pin) and try as I might I can't get the fan to move. I have tried: Another fan. changing this line in marlin/Configuration_adv.h #define FANMUX0_PIN 9 Any ideas? I am assuming using the touchscreby Tryit - RAMPS Electronics
