I've seen you fixed the wide curve pb great ! I would like to help trying the dev version, but how to get the precompiled version for win7 ? I'm completely lost with github thank youby jf pion - Slic3r
the main pb with SF from my new user point of view is there is no explanation of the effect of the setting (or not easily found one. for exemple why using feed rate instead of speed ? the majority of the terms are not self explicit. and there is no explanation on the effect (for example for the bridge you can increase the speed or decrease the feed rate what's the implication why one and not theby jf pion - Slic3r

so there is the geometrical issue as well to deal with the next release may be because I like the simplicity of slicer and I don't really like SFby jf pion - Slic3r
it got also issue with large radius curve as shown at the start of the topic (0.7.2 and 0.8.3) is there other known bug ? (apart the blob at the start of a layer ) just to avoid trying to print something incorrectly slicedby jf pion - Slic3r
I tried to slice the whistle from thiniverse slicer 7.2 I got the extra thin wall red circled on the pic. look like a bug didn't try 8.3 because of the same bug on my other part seems like slcer got serious geometrical problem for the complex parts has somebody the same opinion ?by jf pion - Slic3r
so the trick is to lower the ration til the bridge is straight and not to much to avoid to break the filament ? ok let's go thank you Y think I will have a full whistle collection ;-) by the way skeinforge slice the whistle perfectly but slicer build strange thin wall in the upper aperture, another bug ?by jf pion - Skeinforge
ok now it's working, I want more ! i tried to print the whistle from thingiverse the first try look like there is a little bit too much of plastic, I increase a little the speed rate to 33 leaving the feed rate to 30. look better but the bridge when closing the lead is not straight. less tan the first try but not perfect (the sound is perfect anyway). how to tweak that ? increase the speedby jf pion - Skeinforge
that was the pb set the 2 to 30 look like it's work need to tune a bit with the calibration now the firmware is ok (work with slicer) look like a bit too much of plastic but it will work thank you againby jf pion - Skeinforge
SF 43 ( i use the compiled version from because i can't get python working on my windows7 don't know why !) flow rate :210 feed rate:16 look like there is pb here I will try with simpler parts to see the change is there some where a manual with the explanation of all the term used in skeinforge ? feed rate, flow rate look like it is old conceptions from the time with no stepper for the extrby jf pion - Skeinforge
nophead Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Looks like SF is configured for absolute E and > Slic3r relative E. but in fact no, it is absolute E in slicer and marlin (with frequent G90 0 to reset the extrusion counter): M190 S110 ; set bed temperature M104 S240 ; set temperature G28 X0 Y0 Z0 ; home all axes G92 E0 ; reset extruder to 0 M109 S240 ; wait for teby jf pion - Skeinforge
look like your right ! thank you lot of confusing thing in SF thanks againby jf pion - Skeinforge
I tried to generate gcode for my mendel/ramps/marlin/pronterface. it didn't went well (obviously ;-)) the extruder start to spin maddly with a big blob followed by a big retract with the melted filament up to the extruder, cooling inside the extruder ....stuck ... not a big deal but what happened ? I opened the gcode file and i found big difference between the gcode from slicer (working corby jf pion - Skeinforge
CADucana4d Wrote: > Reading posts on here I am thinking of installin > Slic3r instead. What are your thoughts? I can't > get the link to the windows compiled package to > work does anyone have a link that does work? slicer work fine for most of the things but for some complicated one skeinforge is better, so you have to have the two (and to know how to use the two !) the 7.2 versiby jf pion - Skeinforge
too bad could be a nice add to have a visual representation of the plate before slicing (with the possibility to import more than one stl and to rotate/move them for optimization of the print ) thank youby jf pion - Skeinforge
I can't find an option for that there is one in slicer, there must be one in SF somewhere ! thank youby jf pion - Skeinforge

Polygonhell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > STL files don't support curves, only line > segments. > Have you looked at the actual STL file to confirm > it has more than the 2 segments in it? i've attached it with my messages and yes there is a lot more segment, look like a smooth curve > Usually the software that exports STL files lets > you sby jf pion - Slic3r
even with the fixed stl (no complain from slicer ) it is the same look like it try to draw some segment instead of curve seems like a bugby jf pion - Slic3r
going thru nett fab cloud trying again as soon as the printer is availableby jf pion - Slic3r
the same results with 7.2 and 8.3 (with the non random blob more in 8.3 ;-)by jf pion - Slic3r
When i try to print the joined stl , instead of i got is there a way to have slic3r not deforming my parts ? there is no use to have a software making angulous part instead of nicely rounded one (the aerodynamic of the printed part is not really good eitherby jf pion - Slic3r
there is something else with 0.7.2 version i could print abs without to much blob, with 0.8.3 and exactly the same setting i got blob so important the part is ruined i had to swhitch back to 7.2 the exemple is at the start of the printing i got blob with 8.3 no blob with 7.2 just after finishing the skirt same speed same retract same temp same abs same stl there is something fishy in the newby jf pion - Slic3r
trying the 8.3 version randomize starting point tiked with the attached stl I got the attached Gcode the perimeter printing start always at the same place resulting in a blob blocking the head and making the glass to slip (explaination for the non alignement seen in the pict.) other wise work fine little pb with the dispariion of the rotation control in the setting I need to slice manualy andby jf pion - Slic3r
when I try to slice this stl file : testbin.stl i got a strange behaviour as in the joined picture. I joined the sketchup file also more the perimeters are very angular more than the iso is it a known pb ? is the last version fixing that ? thank youby jf pion - Slic3r
great news and if the comb option is ok too it will be great thank youby jf pion - Slic3r
slicer's working fine but when building a wall it repetitively start at the same point when you're printing thin wall it's pretty obvious or when starting perimeters always at the same point it ends with some blobs (like printing gears the start is always at the same tooth ) thank youby jf pion - Slic3r
thank you a lot the humidity could be a pb in my country (cherbourg-normandie-france, not for nothing the use to be a movie cherbourg's umbrella ;-)) i will speed the retractby jf pion - Slic3r
