Thanks Nop Head - you mean connect to the +5v red cable (connected to the gold 4R7 resistor)? Think I'll just wire up a female USB connector, for easy removal.by marcosscriven - Developers

Hi Mike As I commented to Rich, I'm so impressed by people that build these things from scratch - did it take you long to prepare the dibond (cutting/drilling)? When you say the base, do you mean the base of the bed? I which case yes - though on top there's a piece cardboard covered in aluminium tape (as specified in the build instructions), apparently to prevent warping when printing ABS (whicby marcosscriven - Mendel90

... to your glass printing bed, one thing to do is clean it with mild soapy water, and *definitely NOT* any kind of screen cleaner. I just wasted a few hours due to this, so thought I'd warn about it. I was reading many topics about this on here, and none mentioned it as a possible issue, so hope at least it helps someone!by marcosscriven - Printing

Regarding powering Raspberry Pi from Melzi, which pin outs do you use? Looking here there's two options: The two left pins on the extension port, and the bottom left and right of the serial programming port. I'm assuming the former? Just starting out with a Mendel90 - just wondering if anyone can advise on these two models I printed: On the stepped object, wondering: 1) Why there's so much sag across a relatively small gap, especially compared to the almost horizontal line across the much larger gap on the iPhone case 2) Why the top step is so rounded On the iPhone case: 1) Why it was a couple of mm too shortby marcosscriven - Printing

Filament without a spool - 11 years ago
Hi Have just built my first 3D printer (from Nop Head's excellent Mendel90 kit), and have 20m of filament, but no spool. I've seen various solutions on Thingiverse, but they all involve printing something, which leaves me in a catch-22 situation. Any ideas how I could print a spool, without a spool. I live in London, and just bought a mendel90 kit from Nophead as it happens. Would be interested in this Hackspace tooby marcosscriven - Reprappers
