Dust Thanks. I've had my share of blockages with just a single extruder due to the Bowden setup so I fully understand about not having the tube fully inserted. Although I will say once it starts working properly it will continue for quite a while. Usually until something works it way loose. Then throw firmware/software problems on top of that I can see where one might hesitate to use the Dby kd6hq - RAMPS Electronics
Replace: It's pricey and shipping is not cheap but you could use this. Dust: Are you using a Diamond? If so Repetier or Marlin? thanksby kd6hq - RAMPS Electronics
For what it's worth: I found that my moving the power plugs for the steppers to "E0" one at a time I was able to calibrate the 3 steppers used by the Diamond hot end. It should be mentioned that I have switched from Marlin 1.1.0-RC8 to Marlin 1.1.0-RC8-BugFix. I was a little surprised in the different settings I got for the steppers. All 3 steppers are of the same model, same specifications,by kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
As it turns out this appears to be a problem in Marlin 1.1.0-RC8 firmware. I tried using the M502 followed by the M500 command but that did not work. So I changed the version of firmware to Marlin 1.1.0.-RC8 Bug Fix and that worked. I don't know if this would work for anyone else, but for me it did. Thanksby kd6hq - Repetier
Dust Thank you I don't know why they use E0 [, E1[, E3 etc.... To me it would have been simpler just to state it the way you did or E0, E1, E2.... The [ threw me off. Also it helped me figure the this error I was getting: #elif defined(ABL_GRID_POINTS_X) || defined(ABL_GRID_POINTS_Y) #error "ABL_GRID_POINTS_ is now ABL_GRID_MAX_POINTS_. Please update your configuration." Because ofby kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
Dust Thanks for responding. Well I gave that a try and it did not seem to work. However I changed from Marlin 1.1.0-RC8 to Marlin 1.1.0-RC8 bug fix and it seemed to clear it up. But there seems to be other problems so I'm thinking of going to Marlin 1.1.0-RC7 but am not sure yetby kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
I am using the following setup. RUMBA controller Diamond hot end Marlin 1.1.0-RC-8 Repetier-Host V1.6.2 I have noticed that when I start Repetier-Host the "E" specification is not transferred from the firmware. Is this normal for am I not doing something correctly? These are my settings: /** * Default Axis Steps Per Unit (steps/mm) * Override with M92 *by kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin

I think so also, that's why I included the diagrams. Well I lost 2 before I figured out what happened. I had extra's so it was ok I guess.by kd6hq - Controllers
It's not that hard, all you have to do is to offset the motors. Check this out.by kd6hq - CoreXY Machines
Thank you for the suggestion, it helped a lot.by kd6hq - Repetier
Anyone know of a tutorial for setting up Repetier Host for a Diamond hot end?by kd6hq - Repetier
What factors determine the step/mm? I ask this because mine don't seem to do that. So I'm wondering why? thanksby kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
Why should it be 2*60? thanksby kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
This was not on a RAMPS board. These were also new drivers, DRV8825's which I installed incorrectly. I did not know that they need to be installed rotated from the way A4988's are. Fortunately I had ordered extra's. I do have another printer that uses a RAMPS 1.4 board and have never had to replace a driver in it. It's been in operation about 2 years. Perhaps my experience is not the usuaby kd6hq - CoreXY Machines
It is working nicely now. Had a few problems along the way including 2 bad stepper drivers.by kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
Turns out that I also had the stepper motors flip flopped. So I had X where Y should have been etc... Also had 2 bad stepper drivers but it's working now.... on to Z testing now. thanksby kd6hq - CoreXY Machines
Well I made a little progress. While I'm using Repeiter-Host If I press on the "Y" home button, it now moves in the correct direction to the end stop. This appears to be Y- as the left stepper is rotating clockwise and the right counter clockwise. The "X" home button works opposite as I would expect. Both steppers move counter clockwise (X+), which is away from the end stop(X-).by kd6hq - CoreXY Machines
I've completed the basic frame assembly and am now testing the motors to make sure everything moves in the correct direction. Well they don't! When I try and move the "X" or "Y" direction, both X and Y move creating a 45° angle. So that if I try to home Y, X moves also. From searching and reading I know that the common question is "Is the firmware setup for CoreXY", yes it is. // Uncommentby kd6hq - CoreXY Machines
I have not paid any attention to the temperature readings, I'm not that far along yet. It could be that shielding would help but I am not using any and the display seem fine to me. On my other printer - RAMPS board - same display, same vendor, the display works fine. The other printer has no shielding. Temperature is very stable on that printer.by kd6hq - Controllers
Anyone know if this combination will work together? thank youby kd6hq - Firmware - Marlin
That is a good question. I do not know enough about it gearing to answer your question. If you get it to work you should be able to come up with some really interesting printed objects.by kd6hq - Controllers
Well as it turns out, it was how the SD card was formatted. I am using Windows 10 and it gives me 4 options for formatting the SD card. NTFS, FAT32, FAT and exFAT. I do not know how SD card was formatted when I received the card. So I started with NTFS and I found the neither the RAMPS 1.4 or RUMBA controller would read the SD. I then tried FAT32 and FAT. Both were readable by both controllby kd6hq - Controllers
I had set this aside for a while and am just now getting back to it. I have been building and waiting on parts to arrive. I now have the basic printer assembled and have gotten the X & Y axis to more. The DRV8825's seem to be working now. But as you can see my the pictures (above) they need to be rotated 180 degrees from the A4988. I still need to lengthen the stepper leads, get the hot endby kd6hq - Controllers
If the dual extruders will be separate devices then the hardest part is getting them aligned in the Z direction. Making sure the nozzle is at the same height might take you a little while but can be done. When you do get to the DRV8825, be aware that they are rotated 180 degrees from the A4988. Just like the Ribbon cables on the display. See Notice that the voltage adjustment pot is at tby kd6hq - Controllers
That's Great Are you considering using DVR8825 drivers?by kd6hq - Controllers
I add the following for anyone whom may be following along.by kd6hq - Controllers
Absolutely, I don't consider that rude at all. Anything I can do to help I will. I have received a lot of help along the way. Be advised I am using Marlin 1.1.0-RC7 I will be using a Diamond hot end with this printer so the extruder section is setup for it. You will need to change it if you are not using one. I do not have this printer fully operational yet so I have not verified the operatioby kd6hq - Controllers
