Received this data literally 5 minutes ago: Hi Makers! Let me start out by apologizing that this information has been so severely delayed, but I'm glad to say that I'm finally able to provide you with some much needed information about the event this weekend! I've created a wiki as the central hub that I'm linking everything from, to ensure that you all have access to the latest information:

Just for anybody that didn't get the 411: Setup time is Friday the 22nd at 12:45PM, and we can take as long as we need, up to the venue closing down at 8:00PM. I'll be there at noon and probably setting up til 4:30 or so, maybe longer. If anybody needs any specific tools or whatnot, ping me here and I'll do my best to bring them along. Cheers; - Derek

I'll just leave this here: TL;DR: Use watered down Weldbond and/or PVA on your heated bed to prevent any peelup with PLA, even works directly on glass (which I'll document in a later video). Sticks like a hot damn (heh) and gets a perfect surface on glass. Don't need to print at crazy temperatures on the bed either, although 80C gets an amazing grip, and releases easier after.

From Andrew at VHS: Andrew Milne (ask Derek for email contact) Hello! Jesse, Vincent and I are going to go to 2 of the North Van elementary schools to do an assembly promoting Maker Faire. Three questions: 1) Is there someone with a quadcopter who is willing to come fly it around a school gym to get some kids riled up?? 2) Is there someone with a 3D printer who would like to come show off

The eighth is also tentatively the VHS AGM, so I probably cannot do that date, unless they change it. They are voting now though, and it might move. I'll fill in details later today.

Let me check with the wife on hosting a printing day. I think I might be able to do that (and perhaps I'll get a keg).

Just wanted to chime in, I have seen the Tantillus printing, _and_ have designed my own printer that performs pretty well (see video at , which also has my homebuilt CNC router and various other cool homebuilt tools), and I can say with no qualifications that the Tantillus beats my prusa based printer in almost every way you can measure, and if I was to redesign a new printer, it would be a simi

Coinflip for me; gotta see how the evening goes... p.s. Got 50 mm/s out of my little CNC, which is a lot slower than a reprap, but crazy fast for the Sherline! The new Geckodrive is badass.

OK. Just a quick callout, if you (any prospective attendee) have a quick 1 line BIO for the application, if you could put it in here so that I can paste it into the application? Cheers! - Derek

Cool! Some responses. If you have a 1 line bio you'd like to have for the application, I'll put it in there. Just comment on the FVreprap group thread here:

What? Nobody? The table(s) will be booked, but I need some feedback from interested parties so that we make sure we get enough table space.

I was actually thinking of selling PRUSAs myself. Anybody selling anything needs to get a commercial table, which is a bit more expensive.

Hey all; the FV reprap group are thinking about getting a printer village table set up at Maker Faire 2012, and the Maker Faire staffers are really hyped on the idea. I was wonder if there was any interest here, and if you'd like to join our discussion at if you are into it. I think a table/booth should be enough space, and I am confident that the staff will accommodate our needs if we need to

I chatted with the organizers this weekend, and they are hyped on the idea as well. I'll put in for a table, and we can maybe grow it if there is a need for more space. I think we'll not have any trouble getting either printers or staff to watch it. I'll be getting my own booth as well, just like last year. I'll reach out to the Vancouver group as well. - Derek

I think I found a winner: tl;dr: We can rent conference rooms at a variety of community halls for $10/hr. If everybody pitches in $6 we are good for a few hours. Thoughts?

Can't make it, no sleep last night and I am not even safe to _walk_ upstairs, never mind drive. p.s. We need to plan for a night where we can actually run our printers. I could definitely get access to the hackerspace downtown, but that is probably too much of a drive. Perhaps the Surrey library meeting rooms?

I'll back up sublime/ECSuyu on this too. The prusa is already too flexy (but only a little), and this is going to be even worse. If you wanna make something exotic, the is probably a better choice, at least it errs in the opposite direction
