I have this problem too. So, from this thread, the theories are:
- There's inconsistent acceleration <-- From what I'm hearing, it doesn't happen, or doesn't happen as much on deceleration?
- The stepper motors are causing it
- Looseness in the mechanics are causing the belts to stretch and wobble
- The extruded filament is coming out in a 'wobbly' pattern, because the nozzle diameter is t

I'm a huge fan of RepRaps and I have a Mendel of my own, and I just plugged the project on my podcast
Here's the episode, if anyone wants to listen:

Is it possible to prevent skeinforge from going to the origin point when it starts up?
I made a startup gcode file that does a home, then a little extrusion purge and wipe before it starts, but then skeinforge makes it go home again I'd rather it go directly to where it's going to lay the print.
Unchecking the 'Home' plugin wasn't enough.

Thanks I'll give that a try!

I set up wipe and cool to happen between layers. Cool generates a little glob from ooze, and I was hoping wipe would get rid of it.
Ironically wipe happens first.
Is there any way to change the order?

The 'Multiply' plugin only seems to print one object multiple times. Is there a way to do more than one? I understand if skeinforge itself can't do it, but if not, does anyone know of a quick and easy way to assemble multiple STLs into a single one, then save it to be post-processed by skeinforge?

I'd like to center my object on the print surface. I read somewhere that I should use multiply for this. I tried that, but the travel rate from the home position to the center is painfully slow. Anyone know how to change that?

This is exactly the problem I have with the GPL. Gubbels isn't some kind of hoarder of intellectual property. The man is doing an incredible service to the reprap community, and all he wants to do is keep his own files out of the hands of copycats for a short time.
If Gubbels went around talking about lawsuits against people who copy components of his designs, then I would be rightfully condem

As for slowing down the print to give the layer a chance to cool, doesn't that just give the hot-end more of an opportunity to transfer its heat into the plastic? I tried asking the 'cool' module to just make it print slower, but there didn't seem to be much of an effect.

I'm struggling with this problem too. I tried using the SF 'cool' module, but plastic wants to ooze out after the motor stops, and likewise, after it orbits and waits and starts the next layer it takes a sec for the plastic to resume again.
I thought about having it build two at a time instead. That way one is cooling while the other is being built, and the extruder doesn't need to stop pumpin

This official Marlin software works with gen6 hardware, and has better compatibility with RepG.
No need to use the one from mendel-parts it seems.

I'm getting the same symptom, it's jerky in the control panel.
Does this affect printing, or just the control panel?

Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Flashing under windows with the arduino+sangino 0018 software supplied by mendel-parts seems to work!
I need to plug my board back into my actual machine now, but some cursory tests seem to reveal success. Interestingly, the debug light flashes for much longer during the uploading process when I do it under windows. Perhaps the software that does the actual flashing to the sanguino chip under

I got mine from mendel-parts over a year ago. Only now finally putting it to use.

Bloody hell.. okay here's something weird. Apparently if my sketch size is big, it fails, if it's small, it works o.O
WTF? Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
When I upload this program it works:
----
void setup() // run once, when the sketch starts
{
Serial.begin(9600); // set up Serial library at 9600 bps
}
void loop() // run

Er, sorry, I meant tomprint3d should try that.

Okay I've put on my programmer hat and discovered that there's a message that comes up when you start up this Marlin firmware I got from the mendel-parts site. This includes when you hit the reset button. The message doesn't come up for me, even though I've confirmed that it should.
If you have a serial port terminal program, Nudel, you may want to try the same thing, and let me know what happ

@Nudel The mendel-parts Marlin firmware, which I assume tomprint3d is also using, doesn't panic when the thermistor is disconnected, it just turns off the heater.
At least, that's the impression I'm getting from reading the source.
So it doesn't seem to explain either of our problems.

Every time I try uploading software with arduino I get nothing from replicatorg.. only luck I've ever had was with the original firmware.

Update for me..
I've found some firmware on the mendel-parts site after all, tucked away in a strange location. Apparently the newest firmware is "Marlin" so I tried installing that. Still got the same unresponsiveness.
However, I was able to get it working somewhat by restoring my backup of the factory firmware, which was great, but some of the axes were in the wrong directon, so I'm going t

I'm having a similar problem. I bought a gen6 board from mendel-parts ages ago.. probably over a year, and just now got around to getting it going on a freshly assembled mendel.
I'm getting three serial devices when I plug it in. /dev/ttyUSB[0-2] .. anyone know why there are three? I can't find any documentation on this board which makes me kinda sad. In fact, I can't find any up to date fi

I'm afraid this offer has now expired. I got no interest at all, and some of those parts are looking mighty nice for my mendel. *licks lips* Mighty nice indeed.

I put together an acrylic ponoko darwin reprstap a year or so ago. It was fun, but it had some serious problems. Recently, it's become a lot more convenient to get the parts together for a reprap and there are a lot more people selling printed parts for reasonable prices, so I've decided to try building a mendel over my holiday break.
I don't know if anyone has made a reprap user group here in
