Just noticed you said you had two C min stops? The end stop nearest X0 is X Min. The one nearest X1 is the X max endstop

This sounds very similar to my machine. I built up a small stepper driver circuit using Veroboard to drive my second X carriage

I'd also check that your PLA is OK. It's hydroscopic. If is taken up water then it spits when hot. You said you've returned to 3d printing after a break? Where was your PLA?

Ralf, don't suppose you could post the Gerber and NC drill files as well please? I don't want to have to buy Eagle to get the PCB made. I want to get a few PCBs made and the ones that I don't use, I'll make available for sale at cost through this forum thread.
PS Had a bit of an accident with ordering and now have 100 27mm Piezos!

Funnily enough, a Windows Update saved my bacon a couple of years ago. I'd left my printer running over night and the filament became tangled on the reel. This caused my printer to climb up the filament. My PC did an update and rebooted which stopped the print. When I came down the following morning, my printer had stopped an inch from the top and was hanging 3 feet of the table. Had Windows not

Two questions...
Would it work or has anyone tried it with 3mm filament?
I've no experience of Bowden extruders but would be interested in mounting it directly on my x-carriage over my J head hot ends. Again, anyone tried this?
Looks very interesting though especially as I'm having problems with my Wade Accessible Extruder leaver arm breaking at the pivot screw.

Having copyright in a drawing of a design is next to useless, because it does not transfer to the design itself.
i.e. if someone uses my drawing to create a circuit, then modifies the circuit, I cannot lay any obligation to publish the modifications because I have no claim on the circuit, only my *drawing* of it.
If someone decides that they want to publish my dra

Do you not need another stepper to drive the second extruder as well. In total, on my machine, I have a stepper for the Y Axis; Two steppers for Z but they are in series and use one output on the Ramp 1.4; Two steppers, one for each X carriage for each extruder on the default X drive and the second using Pins X2_Ena 41, X2_Step 43 and X2_dir 45. I have to use these pins because the default ones d

You may still find you have slight differences between the two extrude rates. You will need to adjust the extrude rate for the second extruder in your slic3r software. In my case, my second extruder runs about 5% faster than the first, i.e. when the first extruder is calibrated to extrude 50mm when asked, the right hand or second extruder produces about 55mm. In Slic3r, for the filament that you

Kimented, I think you are correct provided the STL file meets the requirements of the GPL V3 terms. This is why I asked whether the STL file included a comment section. I've just opened up a couple here and they do appear to contain an indication of the source for the STL, netfabb or OpenScad, but that's all.
Producing STL from OpenScad or SketchUp does not appear to provide a facility to propa

However, I'm guessing that it can only be applied to whole new things not already licensed using GPL V3.

Now, if Greg or Wade had registered their design then this would be different.
No. Registering the copyright does not magically increase its power. It just creates a paper trail that shows a copyright exists:
I was thinking more along the line, in the UK, of this.

My only interest is because my particular printer geometry means I am lacking in Z clearance. This version offered 30mm more clearance. I suspect that, if this worked, it would be limited to 1.75mm feed stock but wanted to try it out to be sure. I am tempted to modify Wade's OpenScad myself and make it available through Thingiverse just to annoy the guy. As it stands now, I have to re-learn every

Yes, Cristian, I agree. And the only way to work around that issue is to have designs registered or patented and to obtain full disclosure through the courts. Maybe the solution would be to have the source code water-mark the 3D object in some way so, simply by examining the object, the origonal source code can be recognised. If built into OpenScad, this would allow the copyright owner to be iden

A most interesting discussion! I had further discussions with the person who advertised the "Canted Wade's Extruder" for sale. He says that his OpenScad files do not contain any of Wade's or Greg's original code. He described 're-engineering' from the ground up. Taking the advice from the posters in this thread, I have just read the V3 GPL license. It's quite interesting to see that there are sev

So, if a design is open source, for example, take Wade's accessible extruder, is it permissible to take that design, modify it whilst keeping the new design private and not publicly available but make and sell parts from the modified design?

I got all excited today when I noticed the line about building and running slic3r under OSX V10.9. Apparently, 10.9 comes with a version of perl (5.16) which is not compatible with Slic3r. The help file says to use the command line: -
defaults write com.apple.versioner.perl Version 5.12
and I can verify, using perl -v, that the perl version changes from 5.16 to 5.12
But this makes no differen

Really sorry. Not sure why. It works for me but I'm in the UK. Maybe the BBC is indexed differently for out side of the UK? I know I get i different site when I log in from work because they go through a French proxy. In fact, I think this is where I made the post.

Just thought I'd try the latest version of slic3r on my Mac. And, for a change, I did remember to set the Security & Privacy settings to run downloaded apps from anywhere. The Slic3r icon bounces in the bar for a few seconds and then nothing. I have cut-and-pasted an excerpt from the OSC log files that indicates that slicer is crashing. Anyone else seen this? how do I fix it?

3dKarma, this looks like a good idea. Alternatively, you can adjust the feed rate in slic3r for each extruder as a ratio of the first extrude rate.

I've had a look around the forum and not found anything although there is quite a lot under Dual Extruder in other languages. I don't think the latest Marlin_v1 supports having independant steps/mm for multiple extruders. I did find and Issue logged ErikZalm's GitHub repository but I don't think it was ever actioned. I can see 215(!) clones of the repository and before I clone it another time and

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Ha Ha EXTRUDER1_Z_OFFSET is defined alright but is not referenced any where in the code! I'm using a pretty current copy of the Marlin_v1 branch. Is this the correct branch to be using?
So, I can set it to what ever I want and it won't make the blindest bit of difference!

BuildRob, I was wondering if you could help? My two extruders are slighly different lengths with ext1, the right-hand or second extruder being about 0.6mm longer and, consequently, closer to the bed than ext0.
To adjust for this, I assumed that I should set up my Z endstop, which is on the right nearest the ext1, so that the left hand, ext0, when on the right hand side of the bed just touches t

QuoteI am currently supplying all the motors with the 5V rail. I may move to 12V eventually, but at the moment I'm keeping the current through the motors down.
I believe the stoppers are running in constant current mode so running them at 5 volts probably won't make a difference. Id move them onto the 12v rail and use the trim puts on the polulo boards to set the current. This should also help y

I'm have some trouble. I am find that when I do a tool swap, the firmware is trying to park the head by moving it extremley quickly. It is so fast that one time in three, it stalls and doesnt get moved all the way back to the home position. As far as I can see in the code, it should only do this at max feed rate but, in reality, its much faster than this. Buildrob, have you seen this?

It's alive!!!!!
Got it working last night! Managed to connect power up wrong to my Vero-board mounted Pololu. So, one small fire and blown LCD module later, I then discovered my replacement Pololu was also faulty! That now fixed, I'm all up and running. I need to calibrate everything, which I will do this weekend.
One question though...
Before, my X,Y and Z endstops were essentually at (0,0,0) in
