Thanks for the help, I have a Mendal Prusa with Ramps 1.4 and atmega 2650 and pololu 1498 stepper drivers. And yes I am printing with ABS. I actually did atempt to adjust the pots, I initially did not have them adjusted and then I was following a calibration guide and they talked about adjusting the pots so I did because my stepper motors were getting pretty hot and thought maybe they were drawin

I am using pronterface with slic3r 0.9.1 and I can not get even my first layer to print correctly. I have a level print surface and I am printing on glass covered with kapton. I have a j type head with a 5mm nozzle and 2.9 mm grey filiment that I am extruding at 220 degrees and my printbed at 110 degrees. General Mendel Topics
I just got my printer connected with pronterface, I have atmega 2560 with ramps 1.4 and am running marlin firmware. I have gotten the printer to connect with pronterface and I can heat up my heatbed but when I try to move any of the stepper motors I get a shaking bath and fourth and a funny sound that has a almost grinding sound. I noticed in arduino 23 that the baud rate in the serial port is g

This is the first time I have tried to upload firmware, I have ramps 1.4 and atmega 2560 and I have downloaded the marlin firmware and opened it up in Arduino 1.0.1 but as soon as I try to compile/upload I get an error "void manage_inactivity(byte debug);" I tried to upload sprinter as well and can't get it to compile either. What am I doing wrong?

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks, that makes me feel better about hooking up the power, any insight on three pins at D1, the vcc and the 5v, I know that by hooking these up to a 5v power sourse that I can then use G code to turn on and off the power supply but the ramps wiki is kind of hard to understand about exactly how to hook it up as far as polarity and such, is it 5v supply to 5v pin and ground to vcc or the other p

RAMPS Electronics
Hello all I am new to the reprap community and have just finished building a Mendel Prusa with ramps 1.4 electronics. I am definitely an amateur when it comes to electronics, I know just enough to get myself in trouble, so I was hoping that I could find someone who would be kind enough to help me with my lack of experience so I don't fry any of my electronics. Please excuse my lack of knowledge a
