Short story, Im upgrading my Prusa i2 to a Prusa i3 and expanding the design to accomdate a cubic foot of printing volume or 2.7 million mm^3. I realized the power issue while trying to expand the base of the Prusa i3 in Autodesk Inventor. How am I going to power a 300x300mm bed? I do have a spare 12V 18A power supply hanging around that can serve as a dedicated power unit for the heated bed. My

Found the reason why it never connected and it was a drive issue with one of the programs and an update from Microsoft to correct it.

So it seems like my Prusa i2 will no longer connect to my pc, I'm getting the COM 5 error. I cleared out all serial ports with the registry edit tip suggested on this forum while searching for an answer. That did not work. The only option I have is to use my brother's macbook or a linux dual boot pc done on an old laptop. Im not liking the macbook option because if the screen goes to sleep or you

Some information on my printer. A prusa i2 with the arduino and ramps board. Fans on the X,Y, filament motor, and hotend barrel for cooling. Power by a 12V 30amp power supply. Using a 12V heater cartridge and a thermistor. I also have a milling machine and a lathe. Using 1.75mm filament.
Some information about the homemade barrel and hotend. Used E3D design for the barrel. Brass hotend barrel w

Update:
My printer has been calibrated as accurately as I can get it with a caliper and my eyes. Steps/mm are set where they should be to travel a measured distance. Right now, it is off by about 0.5mm. Is there anything in the marlin firmware that also controls steps/mm besides the one being calculated for such as a scaling factor or something?

Long story short. Old extruder had ceramic stuff when I built my Prusa i2. Ceramic stuff cracked when trying to rebuild extruder because it jammed. Time for an upgrade. I've machined a simple aluminum block with possible expansion for a thermocouple. I need to find thermal compound for use with cartridge heater to ensure excellent heat transfer with no hot spots. Know any companies that supply a

I have calibrated my printer with a bunch of 20 x 20 mm test cubes. The issue come with parts I designed in Autodesk Inventor such as I specify a nut hole to be 7mm wide and comes out to like 6.32mm. File gets exported with the resolution set to High. It's accurate with external dimensions, but never with internals like holes. Any suggestions?

So my extruder motor mount is about to fail and there are so many on thingiverse, but can't seem to find the exact one. I'm looking for one built for a Nema 17 motor, 1.75mm filament, makergear extruder. Can anyone lend me a hand?

I have minimal knowledge on electricity besides V x Amps= Watts. So I got a BeagleBone Black a few days ago and realized I needed a 5V coax power plug to get the full benefits of the board. Minimal power requirements are 5V 1.2 Amps or 6 watts. Beaglebone says you should use a 5V 2Amp power supply to run the board. Question is can I use 5V 3Amp power supply without frying the board? I know I sho

So I decided to go to the manufacturer's website to look at the specifications for the motor I have. Reading closely, it says a JST plug with the model number below "JST"
I typed in google "JST S6B-PH-K-S-2.2" and Digikey is the first hit I get that actually has these plugs
A little more looking at the bottom brings me to "mating products". A little more searching and the crimps. I finally arr

I should have been more clear. The picture provided is of the problem I had and the fix was using the crimps on the wires to attach to the motor. This is the connector I'm looking for meaning the white block which comes with the stepper motor depending on the model you have.

One of the wires to the connector for my Minebea Nema 17 motor came off due to a back and forth motion from x-axis motor. Where can I find replacement connectors?

So I have a bunch of PLA plastic and some wasted prints and can't figure out how to dispose them beside the trash bin. I can't reuse them for lack of fund to make a homemade grinder/extruder until then. Any rules on disposing PLA. The same goes for ABS and other plastics, but PLA is kind of tricky to me because I can't tell if I should putting in the recycling bin or the green bin for yard wastes

Its more like a build taking over 6-7 weeks, mainly done on Saturdays as part of the Maker Club at Cal State Univ. Long Beach. Finished the build two weeks ago. Print is the Prusa Mendel, iteration 2. With the information provided, I'll be on to it right away. Thank You.

My printer is not calibrated in the X and Y. Only the Z-axis is calibrated. Using a 20 x 20 x 20mm test cube. Just printed the cube, Z is 19.97mm +/- 0.2mm, but X and Y are both 23.26mm +/- 0.2mm. What is the method to fix this? I did read the calibration page for the X and Y, but the formula seems confusing although the concept is simple. May need a better explanation.

So I made a bracket in autodesk inventor and exported it in STL. Its converted to G-Code with Slic3r as standard. When I printed the part, its bigger by a certain percentage, Like instead of 8mm as specified in Inventor, its 8.40mm on the printed part. Im using a Mendel. I included a picture with the dimension on the part and the options box for saving the file for STL. They are what I used to sa

I require assistance in obtaining 3M HTD timing pulleys without paying an exorbitant shipping price for I live in Los Angeles. I'd be happy if some one could give me info on any companies out in the Los Angeles area who make this timing pulley. Preferably, I prefer to buy in person, but that's not an option with mfg. companies.
