I am researching super accurate cnc mill tools so I can mill smd pcb projects and other very fine work with a cnc. The issue is the really accurate mills are quite expensive. I found a variety of micromotors on ebay that I would imaging are very accurate as they are intended for jewelry and dental work.
From what I can tell these don't have a lot of torque or power, just high speed and accu

Hey all,
Got a wierd issue, X axis is working just fine but will no longer home. It clicks but gives no error message. Like i said, prints comming out just fine with x axis moving the way its supposed to but no homing, other axis's work fine.
Any thoughts why this may be?
I am using Marlin and did not change anything.
Thanks!

Hey all,
Trying to tune my printer and getting very close, I'm seeing a strange phenomenon though.
This is a picture of the side of a frog, as you can see the edges are waving, there are like 5 layers at the same point on the edge then it juts inward instead of being a smooth taper.
I am printing at 195C black PLA at the default speeds of slic3r.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks!

Maybe thats what it is... I set the jerk to 0 when I initially set the machine up and now i'm working at speeds 10x faster. Maybe I need to return it to default settings.

Hey all!,
I wanted to find out what is the lowest accepable acceleration settings that people have worked with? I am using 1000 right now but when printing very small sections of prints at 50mm I worry the accuracy is not there because of all the vibration going on.
Any thoughts and advice on this?
Thanks!

Hey all,
Finally got an 'almost' perfect print from my printer, I am still struggling with the bottom few layers not comming out as well as the other layers. I am looking for some suggestions regarding this. This was printed .31mm with a 4mm nozzle at 185c at 3mm/s (really slow i know, i am redesigning a drive system with the printer which is why I need this part in the picture).
I am also g

Hey there,
I got a new hotend recently but am having difficulty getting it up to temperature, it is definately capable of the temperature i'm trying to get to but once it gets around ~10 degree's lower than the goal, it turns on pwm and never gets up to temp. I am looking for how to fix this... I thought there was a command you can run in gcode to automatically calibrate 'something' but I do no

In that case what about the G3D Buda-style HotEnd v1.2? It also appears to be aluminum

Has anyone used this or heard of it? I need a new hotend and am looking at this one but would love to hear peoples thoughts before buying?

That should work, but how did you generate the table and what values did you use?

Hey all,
Need help making a thermistor lookup table for Marlin.
It is for NTC Thermistor P/N 104JG1J (http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?x=-1030&y=-71〈=en&site=us&KeyWords=615-1020-nd)
I was trying to use the following site to create the table but not sure of all the values I am supposed to use....
I am using the Ramps 1.4 with marlin firmware
Thanks for any help!

exactly the plan.
quartz glass nozzle heated up to around 950C with nichrome wire
thermocouple able to read it
aluminum wire as extrusion material ( 650~ melting point)
obvioulsy have to play around with the temperature but thats the plan for now

Hey all, I am going to be starting some mad scientist stuff and need pronterface or some control software to read and control up to 1000C on my reprap... Is the software actually capable of reading and controlling this value? I will worry about how and why but if it is not, I would need to figure out the software too :/
Thanks!

Hey all,
Desperation setting in here,
Had a working ramps controller and added a fan for pla purposes last night, tried to print something, it got ~10 minutes in and pronterface stopped working, machine stopped, etc. I closed out of everything power cycled the machine and tried again.
Suddenly the temperature probe is reading 195 all the time, I tried unplugging it.... it still reads 195. Trie

So I am dealing with a possibly dead adc pin on my t0 and t2 temperature probes.
I want to try and wire up a thermistor to another auxiliary pin to the ramps board to see if I can get a workaround.
Are there any pins that support adc on the expansion and any idea what the setting in marlin would be to use them?
Thanks!

When you say twiching and staying still it reminds me of when I wired my motors wrong.
Take a multimeter and test the resisance of the two side pairs (left two and right two) of your z-motor. They should have some resistance(and be similar) where going to other pins should be open.
If you find that ones other than left and right have some resistance(are connected) by trying different combina
