To All the fellow members.
here is some of the findings that might help.
when Layer shift happens
1) Check Belt tension
2) Motor Current
3) When using two Y motors, try using a series connection, rather running parallel
4) Reduce the mass on motion
5)Especially in Big Machines check for the slippage and axis parallelism
After check all and being frustrated to fix the issue of layer shift, the

Glad hear.
here is my experience.
The cheap chinese pullys have less cut depth, that can't hold the belt well, The printer might function intermident, Ensure, with the test that the Pulley is good with deep tooth cuts, which is very mandatory.

Pals,
I have been building machine and never seens such a wierd issue, continuous XY Shift.
Its a CORE XY mechanism, I tried all common ways to trouble shoot steps skipping, but nothing gave results.
Can some body suggest to fix this.

Hello Pals,
I have been building machines, and never found such a issue till now.
Im making a bigger machine with 500 mm Build Volume.
It seems the Skipping of steps is very prominent. I did changed the motors , electronics, firmware and even checked the mechanical stuff many times. I could not fix this. Motor currents were checked.
I did checked on the latest Marlin RC 5 release aswell.

I use the short original Cable, not any extensions specifically.

Im really confused with the LCD controller behaviour.
When I print from LCD controller, I see the funny behaviour
1) In between the Prints the Head moves away in both X and Y direction randomly and comes back to print normally.
2) Suddenly the Extruder Retracts huge length of filament and stops printing.
3) Quite Often the LCD Display shows garbage on screen, and just a click to the Encoder,

Yes, I did
But I have also tried with CURA now and the same behaviour. Like random X and Y movements in between printing quite often and resumes printing.
This is really confusing to nail down. Im not sure, whether it could be a Firmware Issue possibly to support the LCD controller.

I had to update that , I could get successful prints without any issue upto 8 Hrs via PC and the issue happens only through the LCD Controller.
Any suggestions for LCD and the Behaviour. Much appreciated for any help. Thanks in Advance.

One more confirmation, is I had a successful 8 Hrs print via PC, and this behaviour happens only via LCD Controller. So something to do with LCD and Firmware.

Anyone here to address this on the Marlin Firmware, Yes it happens exactly. the symptoms are exactly the same.
Any Help shall be much appreciated.

I did confirmed that, its a huge retract in between the Prints, Just by holding for few minutes, Im not sure, Why this happens.
This is not really in the Slicing or the Gcode.
Im confused with this behaviour.

Hello All,
Looks like some thing wierd with my Extruder Motor.
Initially, I had a successful print, But the Extruder motor was heating extremly hot. So I did turned the current for the motor by adjusting the pot. Now after adjusting the current down, I started a Print.
I see the below wierd behavious.
1) The Extruders rotates at extreme speed and the Filament is thrown out, Looks like some th

Fellow Reprappers,
Im having issue with my LCD - Reprap Discount Smart Controller, displying garbage and after a single click comes back , this happens every now and then.
Is there a way to fix this permanently.
Attached pic for reference.
Any help shall be much appreciated.

I had tried it reducing, but it did not helped, Likely, I need a FAN or the HEAT SINK there.
I will try again.

Dear All,
I have been working on my machine, where the Y step gets missed randomly. I dont see a issue with the Mechanica. Stuff.
I did tried changed the Acceleration down till 1000, where the default was 9000.
After this, It printed a while and started a very small step, But this time Im seeing very rough movements with Low acceleration values.
I got swapped the Axis, Found the problem Shift

Excellent imqqmi
It worked, and I could only reduce it to value 1, while the X, Y is 0.

Thanks for the reply.
Its a custom designed Prusa i3 Style Cartesian Printer and using the Marlin Firmware.
Yes I did enabled the EEPROM . Where Can we change them, or even find the exact value of the Pronterface.

Hello All,
My Reprap Discount Smart Controller installed along with RAMPS, behaves crazy.
If I control the Printer with Proterface, It works fine, But When I try to control via LCD Controller, the Z Axis acceleration is too high and it behaves crazy.
Im not sure, whether its LCD issue or some firmware values with the LCD part. I did used a similar controller in my past machine and it worked b

Its purely the heating block,
Please go step by step, you can achieve.
1) Even before extrusion, please ensure your Extrusion drive is proper. whether is it pulling filament properly.
2) If you are using Slicr, please use the basic settings right.
3) Jus ensure your extruder motor shaft and the gear is properly connected, and rotates along each, sometimes the shaft alone can rotate or might

Things came in right when I could adjust the right Extrusion multiplier and as stated above, Happy printing now.

Here is the config file that I used, and could achieve best results, If some would like to use.
external_perimeter_speed = 50
external_perimeters_first = 0
extra_perimeters =
extruder_clearance_height = 20
extruder_clearance_radius = 20
extruder_offset = 0x0
extrusion_axis = E
extrusion_multiplier = 0.7
extrusion_width = 0
fan_always_on = 0
fan_below_layer_time = 60
filament_diameter = 1.75

I use Gantry system, and I believe the retraction speed increment is not helping, Im not sure whether I need a extruder calibration for better flow control.

Ensure, by holding the filament through your hand, and give extrude command, you should feel the filament going downwards, If so then your Extruder motor is pulling properly, else sometimes the motor would rotate not the gear that holds the filament.
If you find only the motor rotating and not the gear, use alen key to tight the shaft and the gear, so that when the motor rotates gear rotates.

Hello All,
I have tried printing the calibration files and the results were excellent, while went ahead for printing a model, and seems lots of BUR on the printed result.
Slicr latest version with Infill 0.4 and the speed at 60mm/s
Also it looks that when the printer hotend travels the other end or change positions, there is trail of plastic, which is causing the BUR. Attached image for better
