Hi, I posted already some items on the forum and always got replied, but one problem doesn't seem to go away. When I print something, larger surfaces and their perimeters look ok. Smaller things are completely smudged after a few layers

Whenever I start a long print, after a while (15 or 20 minutes or so) the filament is jammed in a cavity on the bottom of the extruder to the hot end. for shorter prints that only take 5 or 10 minutes I do not have this issue.
In the pictures, you can see the extruder as it is mounted and when I open it up after the print, it looks like in the second picture. Of course, when that happens, there'

Ok, thx for the response.
One question: is this an option in slic3r or in the (Marlin) firmware
I also read something about a minimum time for a layer (so that it can cool), but, I checked slic3r settings and could not find an option to set this. Any ideas?

Hi,
I have two problems with my prints on my mendelmax:
- If I have a flat top surface, the infill is smudged
- If I have small (width is 3mm for example) items that have a few millimeters height, then there are "wires" when the head moves from one item to the other
In the attached picture you can see that the top surface is not really flat + between te letter U and T there are wires and loose
