You could check if there is noticeable play at your hot end by moving it by hand (when the motors are powered).by k.p. - Printing

Thanks for the advice. After reconnecting the motors worked. The rotary encoder still doesn't respond though .by k.p. - RAMPS Electronics

Are the pulley's properly fixed to the axle? You can test this by pulling the belt a bit when the motors are powered (but not moving).by k.p. - Printing
