Well I got skeinforge working with repetierHost.
I was trying to manually install tar.gz of ActiveTcl8.5.12 (w/Tkinter) from the website, that was my mistake.
# yum search tkinter (to find package name)
# yum install tkinter.x86_64
worked like a charm for Fedora 17 on my 64 bit machine (I read that online somewhere). Now the skeinforge setting window comes up with the press of the button.

Found it.
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module"
is a bug now in Gnome3 started back in Gnome2 in FC10 that it looks like has been finally fixed in FC17 updates.
as su I used:
# yum update PackageKit-0.7.5-1.fc17
that error is now gone, I am still trying to get my skeinforge to pull up and run with the repetierHost configure or slice buttons (using python2.7 and pypy1.9).
so, # pyth

i have read many comments about rail binding. i am about to mount my axes on my first machine and am concerned that if my rails arent exactly straight, they may bind. i am using brass bushings in printed holders.
is there anything that i can do to reduce the risk?
has anyone tried a silicone adhesive in stead of epoxy to bond the bushing holders to the axes? to allow some slight auto-adjusti

"configure" button does not pull up skeinforge interface. but this appears in the console "Slic3r home:/home/Rich/.Slic3r
". Which reminds me that the slic3r "configure" button does not work either, but the same message shows up in the console when pressed.
P.S. Any thoughts on the prior comment pk-gtk path setting issue?

I am not very experienced with this type of software debugging, but here is my attempt: (see files).

Wierd, I also got something similar:
$ locate pk-gtk-module
/usr/lib64/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/gtk-modules/pk-gtk-module.desktop
/usr/lib64/gtk-3.0/modules/libpk-gtk-module.so
If pk-gtk is there, how can it be pointed to find it?
Thanks for finding the maximize error.
My slic3r problem does not concern me since I do not plan to use it as long as it does not cause a crash. I will be instal

Ok, now without changing anything except turning on logging and all the log buttons at the bottom of the screen (all green)- I can't get it to crash for the last two hours. Now that I want it to crash- it won't (I think it knows what I am up to.)
I can get it to bring back the disappearing graphics by selecting or moving something in the 3Dview buttons, adding an object, deleting an object or

Yes, have you seen my threads "repetierHost v0.72 errors" and "Anyone else installed RepetierHost in Fedora 17?" within the last week? Repetier is looking into it. I ended up reinstalling my FC17 and got v0.72 running again with it becomming more stable when I did not resize the window. and now I cant get it to fail so I can look at the log. ???

More random things that I have come across, hoping that something may help you with some kind of clue:
1) crashed when removing the small gear from the build plate after just adding it.
2) running bundled slic3r it shows error window "I could not find the generated G-code file...." and listed the correct directory with .../work/composition.gcode. However in the actual work directory it had crea

Well, as soon as I resized the window, now I have more errors (below), but I did not leave it maximized and then now it keeps crashing

Thanks for trying to help me with FC17, I also have a 64 bit. Did you accept the package manager suggested updates after installation was finished? This time I did not. You say that you only installed mono before RepetierHost? I just reinstalled FC17. repetierHost is working, but the 3Dview geometry disappears when I resize the window a little bigger.
These are the errors when it starts now:

Help, I am trying to find someone that may know what I may have done or not done to mess it up.
With a fresh FC17 install with bare minimum applications yet I get massive errors trying to run RepetierHost.
I can no longer run the same RepetierHost version that I just had under FC16, see link below and ignore minor errors 1) thru 3):

Well, I am still trying to figure out what this leads to, but this is what I know so far-
Not as long ago as I thought, my last successful version was 0.70 under Fedora 16. My same hardware was doing fine with 0.70 with FC16 and multitasking away making large stl plates and no errors. I did have RepetierHost working at first install under FC17 and ran and closed a half dozen times but it was sh

Well, I tried every permutation of the window normal size that I could come up with per that link, but nothing seems to help. Still keep getting the errors with [0x00000] everywhere. It is definately unhappy with something.
I could maybe try to go back one version 0.71 and see if that would help. I have not upgraded for a while before this.

I have put together most of a frame, so that is good. But on the flip side, I messed up my computer and ended up upgrading my OS to Fedora 17 and now my software packages are taking a while to reload and I am having issues with the new printer host version. How are you doing?

Has anyone seen this broken bar clamp fix using a tiewrap (ziptie) before (see pic)? I thought it would be good for that. I was evaluating it for a bar clamp substitution. Note that the nuts on the threaded rod can only be hand tightened or else they push the smooth rod away from the threaded rod (pic01) and create issues with getting bars parallel. Just use temporary threadlock on the nuts t

From bad to worse, I could not get repetierHost to come up anymore, even with nothing else running. It just flashes onto the screen the window border and quickly goes away. My video card is an Nvidia Gforce 6100 256Mb, Driver: Gallium 0.4 on NV4E. I could ignore error messages that were not important or screen repaint work-arounds, but "FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION", now I am in over my head... a

I am using skeinforge exclusively, I have not setup slic3r. after pressing the "slice" button and the slicing finishes, it gives me the error message in a pop-up window about "...can't find file...". the file is in the directory that it states it is looking in and the example it provides also has no ".gcode". it apparently is looking for the right file name except without an extension. about

I am starting to get used to the new version. I just upgraded to Linux Fedora-v17-x86_64, repetierHost 0.72, skeinforge 0.50 and have some issues. I did not find these as known issues in the forum. The terminal errors in item 4) may be user error? but help would be appreciated.

mfgman2,
Great job yourself! You are running at high steam too. I did borrow that washer idea part from another video. That 8020 is good stuff, yours will be rigid as a rock. Rock-on.

Mfgman2,
Progress... I like it!
Extruder mostly assembled, just hot end left to final drill upsize to 3mm hole once I find a close enough drill bit and wire up later once it is all assembled (for wire lengths). I have a couple of pics. I also was far too impatient to make a fixture to hobb the bolt and came up with a method using just a drillpress and a drill that I had not seen online anywher

Good news,
My friend has resolved his issues on his makerbot and has begun printing parts for me. I am now working on assembly of Greg's-Wade-extruder. It sure is handy to have video or picture instructions, thanks to the community for them all!

I use gimp on linux mostly, its a free program like photoshop. It has win & mac versions too. If you want something smaller, try Irfanview, it is an excellent viewing and conversion program with special effects and batch functions. I've used it for years.
I'm envious of your plastic parts, maybe I should just buy a set.

Thanks for the FreeCAD suggestion, I had not come across that one the last time I looked for CAD. I installed it on Fedora and you are right, it does have some good possibilities. Quite impressive for a cross-platform open-source 3D parametric CAD modeler. It pulls up STL files and can modify them with new features although the existing features are frozen as can be expected from a surface onl

I'm glad to hear you are making progress. I am still waiting on rp parts for final assembly, my friend said he had to recalibrate his makerbot again. If you would like info or opinions, just ask- I'm full of both.

Do you have any pics of your mendelmax build?

Not to say that you can't find these but here are some links that may help with the electronics decisions:
The often overlooked difficulty in getting an extruder is that there are so many choices if you decide to make it yourself. It is an interesting challenge, but it can take a lot of time to finish. I almost have my extruder done, I redesigned a wildseyed hot end but I need to remake the p

you have one main choice of electronic type (gen7, ramps, etc...) and then some minor choices for endstop switch types and the hot end. i ordered most of my electronics from UltiMachine.com in Tennessee as well as other parts and plastic. they are also fairly quick to deliver (3 days). i bought a ramps v1.4, from ultimachine and an arduino mega 1280 from Amazon, but a 2560 will work too. the
