where did you get the filament from?
i have the same problem with white from this peticular vendor, but im not having problems with any other colors from them. so maybe blob is also a filament problem. do you here little puffs from the nozzle.
with my white filament i have the temperature very very low and can print around 150 degree while the others then stop printing.....
wondering if you ha

you can go as large as you want......
ive seen big builds of prusa and many others..... you just need to pay attention to wobble and warping
warping as above mentioned for plastic dynamics so a good heatbed is needed and you will have to build that yourself with resistor heaters. difficultie in that is to get a even heat distribution.
wobble as the stiffnes of your machine. you can imagin that

like many "mad" scientist (mad as in a good way), you are rumbling all new ideas before thinking of what the goal was of your initial idea. Try to get the real goal in perspective and then retink about what you are trying to think about.
and read that book mentioned by mr Morrison ...... it will probably help you achiving realized ideas when you figured out what you want to do.

maybe its a good idea to stretch the time limit a bit for competitions. eg 2 weeks
i just finished printing the competion thing from 2 weeks ago due to time limits. a week can be a very small time when you have to do some tinkering for right settings

yes this is an firmware issue and if your extruder is off then youre other axes are aswell.
if you try google "upload firmware" you will find enough hits to get you started or else probably others can help you. I have a sanga board myself but it should be pretty good to do.

why glass alu and pcb.....? the alu only deflects the heat
i would remove the alu as that can be deformed then use the glass right on the pcb and measure again

if you would live in europe i would go for www.RepRapWorld.com very good service very low pricing and good quality on filiment at least for the stuff i ordered. I never heard complaints about it anyway.
They also have very good priced electronics department...

i have to say that indeed it looks very nice and i like the integration of slicer, much better done then in pronterface so probably im switching..... there is only one but
as my mini laptop has a resolution of 1024 x 600 the view is a little distorted. is there a way to make everything a little smaller? you can resize the windows a bit but that doesnt make it better viewable.........or move the

ok and same would count for heatbed right. I have a MK2 heatbed but i have no room for the LED on the board itself. I have the heatbed connected to a realycircuit and i thinking of powering it from that.
i think i had some LED laying around with 35mA max but il go for 1k Res just to be on the safe side, if it will glow enough for noticing

every plastic will degrade under specific conditions. UV light, temperature, moist or even water will degrade every plastic, one more then the other. PLA is such a plastic that will degrade more under these conditions.
PLA is for example also used as stiching wire, these dont have the need to be removed they will disolve them self and break down to lactic acids.
but what you say that biodegrade

ah ok so it is PWM i assumed it was on of just like my heatbed.
If i put a 1k resistor infront of the LED would it then be bright enough?. if i calculate the resistor needs it would be around 420Ohms if a assume that the LED takes 1.5V and 25 mA

exactly just putting a 1k resistor and a LEd in parallel to the heaterresistor

i only have it sometimes when it tries to move to fast so i set it to lower max speeds. works but maybe i have to check if placing in series can be a solution

Small question
Is it possible to hook up a LED to the hotend power resistor. That way i could see if its on or off.
the hotend power risistor is on or off powered right....

it was not my printer but i cant see why you whant that big of a printer...... i have some room for improving my bedsize but at this point i dont see any problms wit 200x200 mm....
but it is possible, your heatbed would be the first problem to check i think
How do you ensure a component modelled 50mm tall, 50mm wide and 50mm long actually comes out to those dimensions within a reasonable tolera

what i dont like about cura is that you cant set different speeds to infill solid infill or perimiter like it does in slicer. the rest of the program is pretty good and very simple but like said above only use it when slic3r doesnt like it to slice. just of the speed settings

i followed this wiki and works like a charm on my old psu
its powering my heatbed and sanga, its a little work and PLS WHATCH OUT the capacitors can be still loaded and can kill you, leave the psu out for a while before you work on it or load it so the capacitors can unload.

what kind of firmware are you using. I know that sprinter firmware make the circles less round then you could want, Marlin firmware has a built in arc detection making the circles in one go instead of making small steps of the arc in a straight line

something i found out that my endstop for the Z axis was moved down after a while, thus printing first layer at rediculess low layerthickness.
so it extruded in air perfectly tho on the bed i couldnt get any layer to stick. or only half
if you are to close to the bed the extruding force will get to high and your extruder will pump in more filament as you can print therefor blocking the extruder
