Yes, long Y-threaded is M10
You might want to check configuration.scad.dist (at the end of file) on the git hub for the smooth rod lengths, they differ from the wiki.
z- smooth is right
x-smooth is 14mm shorter on the wiki
y-smooth is 100mm shorter on the wiki ?
Not sure why yet, only noticed in last day or 2 and have had no time to look into it.

Not sure on the testing (normally I'd have to do some reading before knowing how to test stuff properly)
The only stuff I have on ramps are wikis Ramps 1.4 and RAMPS 1.3

RAMPS 1.4 still has D1 (or D1 is omitted if running off USB aswell), if 12v PSU ran everything on it's own before and now it doesn't, maybe D1 blew ?

have you got diode 'd1' installed ? (it's between x and y stepper jumper connectors, you'll need to remove the x-axis polou driver to see it)
if that's not installed, I don't think you can power the Arduino from the 12v supply only, have to have USB connected to.
assuming your using RAMPS 1.3 here.

Ah, so 'default settings loaded' is the last output from your firmware after it's booted

just uploaded a default firmware (just changed electronics board, TEMP_SENSOR_0 1 , TEMP_SENSOR_BED 1)
getting MINTEMP error, thing is I can set Heatbed temp on it own both with pronterface buttons and through M codes , and it does it with no further error codes etc (still haven't got any hardware connected to ramps)
Connecting...
start
Printer is now online.
echo: External Reset
Marlin 1.0.0

Deleted answer because it didn't explain why error doesn't occur when you set hotend temp.
I'll try and do some more thinking, don't hold your breath though
How are you setting the heatbed preheat ? through the pronterface interface (bottons & input box) or directly with M codes?

Hi,
not sure setting bed MINTEMP will get rid of the error message since it specifically mentions hotend MINTEMP (extruder MINTEMP).
Had a bit more time this morning,so had a quick look through the thermal settings in the firmware.
Those MINTEMP's are for checking the functionality of your thermistors, to make sure they're working. Again for me
at the time its not an issue they weren't connect

I was getting that error message, when I was testing my stepper drivers, bed,hotend & thermistors weren't connected.
(it's a new build, also my first build, so bear that in mind)
You can get rid of the error message by setting mintemps to -1 . Just try it with heater_1, see if it allows you to preheat the bed ?
Not a prob for me because those thing weren't connected, but in your case I wo

Did some more testing with the multimeter this afternoon.
voltage via POT set to 0.4v (is this vref ?)
Faulty driver first.
VDD = 4.88v
VMot = 12.26v
then tested the coils between driver and motor.
1B = -0.07A
1A = +0.07A
2A = -0.50A
2B = +0.46A
Think I've found the problem, as suspected driver isn't suppling enough current (coils are unbalanced), to make sure did a 2nd test and measure

yep the problem driver is the same wherever I plug it into RAMPS i.e. x,y or z. It's also the same whichever of the 5 stepper motors I use.
The 3 good drivers all work properly, either on their own or alltogther in x,y and z , they're also fine with all 5 motors.
So when you say you destroyed 2 of them, were they completly dead ? or were they still working just not properly.
Thanks.

Hi,
Just did some more testing.
using x-axis on ramps, I removed the jumpers that set the microstepping, so now it's full stepping only. Voltage is 0.4v as before.
Using pronterface, if I hit the foward/backward '1' ring the motor moves as before i.e. feels rough sounds noisy (motor is only moving in small increments, should it do this with microstepping jumpers removed ??)
if I hit the '10

I've just built a RAMPS 1.3 with 4x A4988 black edition drivers and I'm testing the drivers one at a time
(printer frame not assemblied yet). All have been set 0.4v.
configured and running marlin, endstops are working correctly.
3 of the drivers work great, motor run smooth in x,y and z locations (I have
tried E0 but can't run the motor because temp too cold, heater and thermistors

Got mine from Openpart for £10, free postage with orders over £50. They're closed at the moment until June 5th. (Steppers are LDO which are re-branded Soyos)
There is also a seller on emaker.com selling them for £9.99 , Stepper motors, I have had some other stuff for my i3 from him, with no problems.

General
Hi,
Is anyone able to provide a price, inc P&P, on a set of printed parts for a box frame Prusa i3, in ABS or mixed ABS/PLA with the printed parts near heat sources in ABS ? (bushing.stl , y-carriage.stl and groovemount in ABS)
I only have ABS filament, so will be printing with hotend temps ~230C and bed temps ~100C, concerned that PLA printed parts could distort with heat ?
Although I
