QuotejzatopaYour idea is a good one the only problem I see is that if you try to replace the grub screw with the thermistor, you have no way to tighten the heating element.
My thought was that the block could be drilled so that the length of the threaded part of the standoff would act as the grub screw to hold the heater. Also, at least on the E3D, the grub screw hole would have to be moved fro

QuotejzatopaMy whole goal is a plug and play solution and that looks a great solution, now I just need to wait until they get stock.
If you read the description, the seller simply glued a thermistor into the brass fitting. It took me all of five seconds to realize that the brass fitting was a simple M3 chassis standoff, sold by the pound/kilogram:
Given the near-negligible cost, I want to kn

I would like to point out that the solution doesn't really need to be a thermocouple. If we could find an M3 threaded thermistor that operated up to 300C we would have an ideal solution. I just can't seem to find one.
Did you check eBay?

Quoterazor103About the only issue that has not been solved is the SD card slot on the LCD display still does not work.
The adapter board provided by Sainsmart does not pass the SD card or kill button pins to the Megatronics 2.0 board..... :-(

Repetier firmware has a rotary encoder speed setting, which I believe is there for software button de-bouncing. I think that I remember you posting that you switched to Marlin recently, and I don't know if it has an equivalent setting option. If you want to rule out the firmware, you could use the Repetier firmware web configuration program to slap together a quick firmware just to test the dis

QuoteRP Iron ManIt would be great if someone could come up with a RAMPS 2.0 that is affordable and has thermocouple support built in.
If you want it today, the Megatronics 2.0/3.0 boards both include built-in support for two K-type thermocouples via screw terminals, and the 3.0 board also has headers to connect an additional two external thermocouple cards if you find yourself needing four therm

I spent about 3 hours last night making friends with their web site, and placed an order for about $300 worth of various extrusions and other experimental odds and ends to use the free $150 offer before it expired. My head was hurting trying to figure out what screw lengths to order based on the product drawings, so I decided to just check out with what I had and sort out buying the screws once

If you are using an ATX power supply, there is a 5V standby power wire used to power the PC circuitry for turning the computer on via soft switch that solves the catch-22. Don't know whether it is rated to power the entire 5V requirements of your board(s), but it is worth investigating if nobody has a better solution.....

Convention is that Z=0 when the nozzle is touching the bed, and goes up from there until the far end of travel (98.6mm? on your printer). You need to either set a Z offset in firmware (if Sprinter supports it) so that 98.6mm is at the top, or move your endstop switch to the bottom and make your Z motor(s) turn backwards either in firmware or by swapping the wires around. Don't try to compensate

Quotethejollygrimreaperthe issue you'll have with thermocouples is that the wire they are built from is solid and won't handle the movement as long
Mitsumi has a few specifically for moving applications, with relief springs on the wire. Unfortunately, they cap out at 300C, so you don't get the most desirable benefit from changing to a thermocouple which is breaking the 300C barrier.....

Your power supply seems to be under-sized for the typical 200mm square PCB heatbed. The wiki recommends 10 amps, and I've read several complaints that certain power bricks rated for 6A struggle to put out 5A. Just my two cents.....

The jumpers just connect two pins together. You can check them for continuity with a multimeter, with 0 (zero) ohms resistance being correct.
I'm surprised that you received a SainSmart kit that included jumpers. The Megatronics 2.0 kit that I purchased from them did not include the stepper motor jumpers, plugs for the stepper motor wires, or instructions of any kind.....

Firmware - mainstream and related support
I only have one wrap of kapton tape holding my thermistor in. The insulated wires are firmly fastened to the moving effector plate, and the wire loop down to the hot end has just enough spring pressure where it pushes the thermistor into the hole. Next time that I have the effector plate apart, I intend to glue the thermistor into the hot end with some high-temperature RTV gasket compound that

I believe that Levent is using a Megatronics 2.0 board, which includes hardware support for two thermocouple inputs via screw terminal inputs (like the power supply inputs) in addition to the thermistor pins. The thermocouple inputs are analog pin 4 (TC#1) and analog pin 8 (TC#2) if I'm reading the schematics correctly, and the interface chip is an AD597 or an AD-S08.
My guess is that he should

Isn't there a checkbox option in Slic3r to randomize the starting point for each layer? If all else fails, at least it would distribute the ugliness around all four corners rather than butcher one completely.
You didn't mention what hotend, filament, or extruder you are using. With a long Bowden tube and geared extruder linked to a 0.4mm E3D hotend, I'm running 4.5mm retractions and 100mm/seco

I popped the 5V power rail when hooking up the display, due to one of the ribbon cables having an end crimped on backwards. Since the connectors were keyed, I didn't look at the red stripe to see that one end was backwards until after the magic smoke leaked out. The lack of documentation is frustrating, and they omitted half of the printed labels from the board so you need to look at a picture
