It should help a lot, even though ptfe expands a lot, roughly 1 eighth on an inch for every 100degrees ferinheit per foot, it has almost no friction. That's why is was used in cook ware for so long and is still used for high quality linear slides. It is also really soft and will deform to mechanical defects easily . So if the movement is tight just work it for a while and it will be supper smoot

Ptfe is super slippery and some what insulates the filament so that it doesn't soften and clog the throat.it can also withstand up to 450 degrees ferinheit.before degrading and out gassing.

I get fairly accurate dimensions with my prusa i3 and solid edge. Dimensional accuracy is all about the proper steps, xyz and e, as well as jerk, acceleration and mesh resolution. I can print some parts at 100mms and be very accurate. Holes parallel to the bed require higher resolution, thoughtful placement and all travel steps to be set properly for perfect accuracy since they are dependent on

I would think that heat from the heater block could creep up the hot end more in a warmer environment. I would personally try putting an insulator between the heat block and the heat sink. It should help prevent the creep upwards and not let the throat get as hot.. I know for sure it helped me with pla, I can touch the aluminum block that the throat of my mk8 direct drive goes through for the hea

If there is enough pressure in the nozzle I assume you can skip steps and not mess up a print. Have you checked your steps per mm?

My stepper was clicking a few days ago and getting really hot. I insulated the top of my hot end and it went away. I am using an mk8 direct drive extruder so I am certain that Insulating won't help you, but the stepper could still be getting hot, possibly.very nice part by the way.

A fan did greatly help prevent the layer curling for me. Also turning off the bed after the first layer and, if printing at low speeds, printing at 180 or even 175.

The aluminum housing on the bearings seem to deform easily if tightened in place. The nest for the bearings needs to be an almost perfect fit or there is too much tension on the linear rod or too much slop in the mount. I also read that you can lubricate them with a light coat of 3 in 1 oil for smoother operation.

It looks like under extrusion all around to me. Calibrate the extruder , make sure the nozzle isn't clogged, and then tempreture and speed . I run 30mms at 175 and 100mms at 190 with a .4mm nozzle typically.

Is it metric or imperial? If you exported the model in imperial the the details are too small for the printer to print and get lost when slicing. Scale it to metric would be my guess.

My new design is going to use the frelon lined bearings from them with stainless rails, wish they had metric teflon lined bearings though. They also have an eBay Store so the average person can order parts.

If it is centered in the slicer program then your end stops need moved and your steps need tweaked in the firmware. The software determines the center by the location of the end stop, the print bed size divided by 2, and moves it over as many steps as needed.

I bought from reprapguru, prusa i3 acrylic frame for 280 on ebay. It works well, but I upgraded to lead screws for the z axis and an aluminum bed and y carriage. I say, if you want to learn how they work and you like to tinker, the cheap ones are a good starting point,.

Printing at lower Temps works well for me. I've been printing at 180 recently, though I haven't checked what my hot end is actually running at so it may be hotter than that. Cooler Temps means more solid flow and better bridging.that being said, at 20% to 30% infill with a .4mm nozzle works great with three layers of solid top layer. As long as your layers stick cooler Temps are better in my exp
