Thanks very much for the info. I will give the other baud rates a try. I really like what I see so far - I can't wait to get it printing!

I have found that the pirateship on thingiverse will not slice. It does the first 20 layers or so and then skips most of the ship and raises the Z axis up real high to print the top in mid air.

I am using the MAC version and have setup a printer profile. I click on connect and it shows it is connected. When I try to use the manual controls to move the print head nothing happens. The only thing I can see happening is in the lower left corner it says "Connected - 7 commands waiting". The count goes up with each movement I make, however it seems the commands never get sent.

I had a similar issue and found that it was my own stupidity. I wired the endstops along with the motors through a cat5 cable. I think the current required for the motor caused the endstops to fire prematurely. After I rewired all was well.

Reprappers
I have found a way that works almost every time.
1) I have repsnapper running
2) connect with the right settings
3) see the timeouts
4) unplug USB
5) count to 10
6) plug USB back in.
7) count to 10
8) try to reconnect.
I am on vista and it seems to work. If I do it any other way it will fail.
Good luck.

Thanks for the which responses that certainly did the trick.
Surprising that there isn't a good quick start profile that will work for most users.
The initial experience of gettin

I finally have tried my first print and was not very happy with the output. I followed many of the suggestion in the forums on how to setup Skeinforge and pronterface with my RAMPS1.4 Prusa.
The issue seems to be that every time I create GCODE it always lays it out crossing 0,0 and part of the object is in the negative X and Y area. What I don't understand is where is X-19 or Y-10? I thoug

Thank you guys for your assistance. I will do some more troubleshooting tonight. I suspect that the end stop wire is probably shorted with the motor wire, that is probably why when I used a different motor wire it went away.

Nophead - yes, the endstop does function correctly, ie, if I can engage it while it is traveling in the negative direction it will stop immediately.
Marnargulus, - When the Y stepper is plugged into the X it works fine.
It really seems as if it is the cabling for the x - however it doesn't make sense that the problem is only in the negative direction. I assume both stepper coils are used i

I am just about done with my prusa build, however I have run into a snag. I am fairly sure I have a short somewhere in my wiring and was hoping somebody could give me some pointers.
I am running CAT5 from the steppers to a Male DB25 connector. My housing has RAMPS and power supply and cooling fans with a female DB25 connection. On the back side of the db25 I connect up all of the motors and
