I hardly ever come here, but FWIW I bought my printer parts from Europe because it is way cheaper than here.
The key it is to buy parts from someone who sells a lot of them, and there are lots more sold in Europe than here.
A vitamin kit from England was about 20% the cost of the parts here.
The last one was about 18 months ago, so your mileage may vary.

I found the problem.
I had the First Layer Height Ration set to 0.5
My thinking was that it would then be slicing the middle of each layer, rather than the top or bottom.
Anyway - i set it back to 1 and no more crashing!!!

I have tried sanding but i wasn't happy with the result on complex parts.
I will look at some varnishs and clear coats and try some.
Thanks

Has anyone got a way to polish a printed PLA part.
I have printed some parts, and want to clean them up, and make them shiny.

I have imported 20kg or black PLA filament for personal use and sale.
I will be selling it on eBay through PLA Australia.
Cost will be about
450g (1lb) for $20 + postage ($10).
2.5kg roll (5lb) for $80 + postage ($20)
If there is a demand i will import more filament and more colours.
What do you think?

Thanks

General Mendel Topics
I have a Mendel with Gen6 electronics and RepSnapper control.
It has been working like a champion for a couple of months, but i have just got some ultimachine colored PLA (3mm) and it doesn't work as well.
Originally i had a roll of black PLA, and printed onto masking tape on the heated bed. It worked great.
The new PLA in silver, and orange (so far) both extrude nicely, but don't stick to the

I found the problem by reading more fill problems.
It is not a fill issue as such, but the geometry of the part not leaving enough space to do the fill.
Changed the "Extra Shells" to 0, and the fill fits between the holes and the perimeter.

I have just started using SF and have a problem.
I am printing a Y-AXIS_BRACKET for testing. (attached)
The skin is good, the dimension is good, the solid fill in the base is good.
BUT the fill between the holes and the walls, and in the top half where there is only holes and walls is very sparse.
I am using a line file pattern, and it works in the middle.
I assume the narrow space between the ho
