Thank you, I think this is the only solution. Use arrays, but the problem is that they are difficult to change.
What is so hard to include a=a+1 in the openscad language?
OpenSCAD is a declarative language, whereas we are mostly taught (academically or through self-discovery) imperative or procedural languages because they're easier to understand.

OpenSCAD is a functional language, so declarative constructs like acc = acc + holdht don't do what you think they do.
For the example shown, you can substitute the actual calculations directly into the translate() function:
translate([0,0,0]) cylinder(d=holdupdia, h=holdupht);
//I'm assuming acc = 0 at this point
//acc=acc+holdht;
translate([0,0,holdht]) cylinder(d=holdshaftdia, h=holdshaftup

Hi,
I believe what you are looking for is a product called SILWELD manufactured by Everbuild.
Regards,
Neil Darlow
Is this the same stuff?: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Super-Glue-15406-Fuse-Tape/dp/B00CAODQO6
I bought some a while ago but haven't yet got round to applying it - it'd be good to know it's the right stuff before I do!

FWIW I haven't noticed any unreliability in Slic3r itself (I've used this exclusively for the past three years or so because I just can't get my head around Skeinforge).
My main gripe with Slic3r is that with every release we tend to have a bunch of fantastic new features but old ones break or work differently, so I tend to stick with an older version until I *really* need those new features.

You know you can do this yourself? Most of us here are just users of the software who are trying to help out when we've experienced similar issues
In any case, I did a quick search on open issues - does this describe the same issue?:

I would love to attend but I suspect I'll be busy with my day job as I was last year.
I'm also very interested in Rich's adventures in SLA so I will follow this thread and update it if I can make it - would be nice to meet some fellow contributors!

Try increasing the bridging flow ratio value, it did help in my case. Not sure why it would but...
Quotedmould
Both symptoms described are possibly due to under-extrusion.
Dave
Is this still an issue? I want to run a lower flow ratio for bridges to stretch the extrudate across the gaps and reduce sagging - is there another setting for this?

I've set my Z-pointers to be pointing straight inward at the point where my nozzle is pre-heating above the bed, rather than in the idle position at the top. I figured this is the point where I usually remember to check them, which I do before every print. I guess however that ~200mm travel downward from the limit switch has no bearing on the bed height, if that has somehow moved.
In any case, I

My start gcode hasn't changed in years - the initial pre-heat where I keep my extruder high is for the bed only - the extruder isn't on at all during this phase. Once the bed gets to temperature the rest of the gcode is the same; start the E pre-heat and lower to the glass to prevent ooze, wait for E temp to stabilise for a couple of minutes, wipe, start the job. The bed pre-heat phase just lets

I don't think we can influence the normals in OpenSCAD - as you can see from the colouring, when we subtract one object from another the normals are facing the wrong way. When these faces are directly in contact with the 'outside' of the object there doesn't seem to be a problem but when the cavity is completely enclosed then some slicers don't understand the output and fill it in. I don't know i

When I first noticed the problem I had stopped using the printer as regularly as I used to, so assumed it was somehow connected to the lengthy period of sitting idle.
Looking back at my first post I suppose it's possible that I just assumed that the period required for the symptoms to 'reset' was a week or more, though it does appear that it at least took longer than a day.

Ok, this is getting frustrating now. I've loaded some new filament (freshly opened from its vacuum sealed pouch) to run some test prints and it would appear that the OPPOSITE occurs from what you would normally expect.
The following tests were done with the same job: 9 square objects (rounded corners) placed in a 3x3 grid, about 50mm square and 5mm high, hollow interiors with 2mm thick walls. Th

Smuk3d is correct - I use Repetier Host to manage my Slic3r profiles, which passes in the parameters from its Dimensions tab when it launches Slic3r so I've never had to touch Slic3r's own "Printer Settings" tab.
If you copy Smuk3d's settings then Slic3r will have its own copy of your Mendel90 dimensions too (and the all-important "print center" location) so that it can slice correctly even whe

I've had this happen once - a combination of a hot day, slow print speed and the old design meant that enough heat was building up and rising up the hot end into the bottom of the wades block, causing the filament to soften, buckle, and eventually clog. This was after many months of problem-free printing, so the increased ambient temperature definitely contributed to the problem.
If you have one

OSX has no problem with 250,000 baud for me - in fact you can see it connected in my screenshots above. That line in Marlin is set to 250,000 as per default on my firmware.
That Python error is usually thrown when a port isn't available or something has it locked. Have you got anything else running that could have snaffled the serial port?

I've been using my Mendel90 much less regularly recently and have spotted something weird with my first layer height. All of the following observations are from the same .gcode file, so no slicer settings have been changed between runs. The job takes about three hours and I let the bed cool completely to room temperature before removing the job and starting over.
The first print I do seems to ha

Wow, we're digging up some old threads now!
@Neil: No, my M90 pre-dated the red tape. It pre-dated a lot of cool stuff, which is why my x-idler end is still cracked and held together by a makeshift clamp that Chris sent me before the new revised x-ends were published. I tried making a small hole in my fan duct to ventilate the Jhead but it had no effect (my room gets above 30degC in summer with

Awesome. Another OpenSCAD user.
As I said though, I'm not Marius and I'm not associated with the dev team - I just posted the release notes here because I thought it would be of interest. If you want someone to look into glitches and bugs then there's an issue tracker on github or you can use the discussion forum on Openscad.org - good luck!

OpenScad has recently released a new version that I believe fixes that bug (but I have not tested it). It was fairly easy to workaround - just put a small (0.01mm) hole in the design from the outside into the cavity (e.g. through the membrane) and the STL will be correct - albeit with a small hole that Slic3r should ignore (being too small to print).

The new Mendel90 x-ends have the z-screw nut traps at the top instead of the bottom. If you think about how the plastic is laid down (in particular the order of perimeters and infill) then you'll realise that you cannot have a floating nut-trap. Nophead gets around this by putting a single-layer membrane at the base of the nut trap on which to build the rest of it - this is easy to remove afterwa

My x-carriage belt rubs on the left hand idler washer, due to the bar clamp cracking early on and now I can't (easily) put it back under tension - yes I know I should get round to printing myself the new x-ends but there are just so many other things I want to do!
Despite the black 'friction burns' (it's more likely just a combination of grease and dust) on the front edge I haven't noticed any
