I just finished some repairs and upgrades to my old faithful Anet A8. Now the new v6 clone hot end (Bowden extruder) hits the document clips that hold the glass plate to the build plate.
This did not happen prior to the hot end change.
I use Repetier Host to run the A8 via USB from a win 10 computer.
I think I need to tell Repetier Host the bed is smaller, and use a start script to raise the Z b

I have designed a 2 part project box that has a slanted top for a lcd display. I designed it using Fusion 360. I do not have much experience using supports. I prefer to design to print without supports.
I print using Repetier Host, and slice with slic3r or slic3r PE contained in Repetier Host.
The link below will take you to a 3d view of the top of my project box.

I need help!
Installed Ramps Board. Checked , re-checked, and re-checked connections. Plugged usb cable and display lit up. Turned on power supply and bang! X axis Stepper driver chip started glowing and the buzzer on the display started screaming! Shut every thing off and walked away to regain my composure.
After calming down and getting my heart started, I disassembled everything, removed the p

I am converting my Anet A8 to Ramps 1.4 because I broke the original control board(blew the Extruder Stepper driver). I used an external Mosfet on the A8 for the heat bed. Can/should I use the external mosfet with Ramps? The small wires of the mosfet connect to D8, as they connected to the bed output on the original control board, right?

I just printed a set of leveling wheels to make bed leveling easier. I seems the 3 mm nuts don't stay in the opening made for them. How have you gotten them to stay?
PLA slurry added with a art brush?

I have an Anet A8 coming, and am gathering projects to print with it. I would like to build a project box for an Arduino based Rotary Table. The controller is comprised of a Arduino Mega, a M335-B TB6560 stepper Driver, a 20 x 4 LCD, a small pot for backlight control, and a 4x4 matrix keypad. I would like to include the split type of standoffs to support the Arduino and the stepper driver.

Anyone close to me (Jonesborough, TN) willing to print the power supply cover for adding the power cord connector, and the mosfet mount? So I can have them for the build?

Just ordered the mosfet and power switch parts to add while building. Thanks for the warning.

I am about to order an Anet A8 from E-bay. I see that most only come with a small amount of filament. What is your favorite source of filament? What is a good price.
I am just learning 3d printing, so be kind. I've been told to use PLA for the setup and first print. When would you use ABS over PLA and vice-versa?

I would recommend PLA filament for your first prints, I find it the easiest to print, it prints at a low temperature and isn't fussy. The Anet A8 comes with an old version of Cura for slicing, but you can use the newest version just fine. I would recommend installing Skynet3D firmware and enabling the thermal protections. These are disabled in the default firmware.
Thanks, Pheneeny

I am about to buy an Anet A8 from E-Bay. I think the Anet A8 is the best choice for a first printer. I have a few questions.
What is the best filament type for first setup/calibration/first prints? Why?
Do any e-bay sales with filament offer a choice of filament type?
What is the best choice of bundled software/controller/etc. and why?
