I have a makergear .25mm and it works great. Usually print 180-185 Degrees (PLA), .15 Layer height, and anywhere from 40mm/s to 125mm/s... but slower speeds do work better. My layers never come apart.

Where can I get a gear for a direct drive extruder??? I cant find one!

Its the same thermistor, but it could theoretically be attached differently... Perhaps I should print cooler.
How does one tune a PID, Ive never done it before.
I also recently noticed my hobbed bolt is bent ~5 Degrees , so I don't know if/how that could cause ooze, but its not too important, because i plan to switch to a dual bowden soon.

I had an incident that clogged my nozzle so I replaced it. Same Diameter, same brand: .25mm Makergear.
But now I am getting horrible ooze problems after an extrusion, way more than ever before.
What could cause this?

I have a file im trying to print for a friend. It has relatively small text 5ish mm embossed on the XY plane on which it its printed. These small and numerous details cause the area to become very blobby and messy, causing plastic to rise up. Any idea how to fix this?

Anyone have any idea when the next version of slic3r will be released? Im just curious.

Im a slic3r guy. Ive tried KISSlicer... with bad results. I couldn't find an input for nozzle diameter, or other basic printer info...

yydoctt: how are your bowdens working? Did you have a geared/direct drive with a motor on the carriage before? Do you see much of a difference in print quality with bowdens?

Im not necessarily asking what will work, but more this is what I have, and will this work.
Ill have to take a look at sublimes bowden.

Im going to put a dual extruder on my printer. But....
A bowden would reduce weight, which i like, but ive heard bad thing about them with retract, compression, etc
So i really like the idea of a geared or direct drive extruder with motors and all ON the X carriage... I would likley design it myself.
My main beef with having two motors on the carriage is weight... how bad is it to have 2 NEMAs

Try this:
-Disconnect everything
-Enter Pronerface
-Connect Cable
-Select COM3
-Click connect
This sequence usually works when im having trouble.

I had this exact same thing a while ago... Never solved it, but I have heard of others with this issue.

Wow, printed off the new parts with the glue on the X ends and the layer alignment is pretty much perfect!
There are a few sub-millimeter "bumps"... theyre are like blobs, but nearly invisible... any ideas?
Will post pictures if I get a chance.

I have put a few small dabs of CA glue between the Z bushings and X mounts... I could wiggle the whole assemble before, now its sturdy. There are also Z constraints on it. Printing something now and Ill probably know tomorrow morning if it worked.

Well ive changed the Z steps... Im not SURE if it made a difference, but they look nice.
Im still suffering Z wobble, ive tried many things to fix it. How havy you guys tackled it?

Well i replaced the pololu... Burnt that out via stupidity.
Switched the X and E drivers and its doing well . I figure it must be the driver, and a missed E step isnt as bad as a missed X step. Ordered a new driver to replace the bad one.
Ive been running it more latley, so i guess the driver may have become "half burnt out" from excessive use?

X skip - 11 years ago
I don't know whats happening, my X axis randomly skips steps. Its been working fine for months and ive changed nothing. I try to hold it back, but it pushes through. I watch it and it stops for ~half a second during a move.

Will try adjusting firmware tonight. Ill hope for the best.
Just round X and Y steps to nearest Hundredth?
What do you mean calculating flow rate? Is there a place for that in the firmware?
Thank you.

I use sli3r 9.8 and it works fine. Try printing a file from that and see what happens.

The left is from my printer with a .35 nozzle( few months ago). It had very good layering, ... But it was smooth. The one on the left is recent > My printer no has a .25 nozzle. Z wobble is not what im asking, I will fix that. But why are the layers now inconsistent? Please help.
My filament is ultimachine so its good.
My hobbed bolt is clean and round.

I would like to put a dual extruder on my printer for soluble support material. Has anyone else done this before? I think the best way to do it would be with a double bowden extruder, but I have hear some so-so thing about bowdens... Any opinions?

Prusa V2... so yeah... It crossed my mind that that could be the problem.
Any special trick for aligning them?

1. No printed pulleys. Motors get quite hot, but not untouchable.
2. ^^
3. Bout a ~10" fan blowing on the whole machine from ~2-3 feet away
4. Using LM8UUs. They seem good.
Btw its a pretty consistent/constant rate of drift.

X Drift - 11 years ago
In recent prints I have noticed my layers drift by about 1mm per 20-30mm of Z movement.
Not sure what other details to give, but anyone seen this before?

Ive tried different layer heights and for some reason, .1875 looked nice.
