But wouldn't that then mean I have the same old problem of the Drv8825 not
being able to provide anywhere near the amps required?
Or can the Drv8825 automatically adjust the volts to power two steppers
on one channel?
I know best solution is to replace the steppers with some decent 1.2A model
but the old piggy bank is empty.
Many thanks,
Andrew

Hi folks,
thanks for the replies.
The actual printer is a rework tweaked with a 12864 lcd.
The current steps/mm is 4000 but I might increase it to 1/16 8000. The steppers are still
very noisy.
I seem to have problems especially in the z once I start playing with 4mm/s+.
But I have another problem that has reappeared. It seems that once I start having
xy moving above 120mm/s, actually figure is r

Hi folks,
with the help from Olaf, I bumped off most probs but this one has appeared
again. I have three makerbot clone endstops x min, y min, and z max, the red ones
from eBay. If I movethe extruder away, when turned off, and then issue a autohome
through the 12864 lcd everything works.
If I manually issue a move that sends the extruder into the x min endstop, it doesn't
stop. If I manually tri

Hi Dust,
figured that one out.
All the guides online said keep away from the config_adv.h, which I did.
If I had ignored that advice, I would have found the solution.
Many thanks,

Hi all,
after being introduced to the joys of config_adv.h i might have found what I want.
My setup on a ramps 1.4 is pretty stock with the hotend wired to screw down D10 and
the heated bed to D8.
My extruder cooling fan is to be wired to screw down D9.
If i enable in my config_adv.h

#define EXTRUDER_AUTO_FAN_TEMPERATURE 50
#define EXTRUDER_AUTO_FAN_SPEED

Hi Bruce,
just slowed the Z back down to 2mm/s at 1/8step but haven't checked it out yet.
I've pretty much maxed out the drv8825. I,as I have said elsewhere, stupidly brought
2.4A/coil steppers. I think you can see what two of those can do to a drv8825.
At least, as you have shown, it can be done with a ramps 1.3. Suggests maybe I
can do it with a ramps 1.4.
Many thanks,
Andrew

Hi folks,
I hope it isn't a wiring problem. Nightmare locating intermittent wiring issues.
Olaf, not sure about the x belt binding the carriage on the z shaft. When I built
the beast I replaced the x axis carriage parts with a design where the tension of
the belt is braced against x axis shaft ends. I think it was mean't to address the
very problem you raise. I don't know how good at this the

Hi Olaf,
yes, it is a page from the wiki on reprap. I keep losing it and refinding it.
If the figure of 16KHz for max steps per second for a ramps/arduino r3 is
correct then it is a handing fact to know.
It also helps explain why running a 0.9/ 1/32 stepper at 10mm/s just
don't work and gives me a reality check.
Thanks for the info on internals Olaf,

Hi folks,
Does anyone know if any experiments have been using extruder E1 as a second driver for the Z axis?
I wondering as, I'll admit it, messed when I bought my steppers and stupidly got 2.4A per coil models.
Even running my Drv8825 at 1.8A I suspect the z steppers just aren't getting enough juice. Very flaky, going out of sync, freezing. I've tested at full step to 1/8 with max z velocity o

Hi again all,
Just seeking clarification regards the max step output on a ramps.
I was just reading the wiki on step rates and it mentions the arduino ramps
combo has a max step rate of 16KHz.
Is that per output to each stepper or is that the total step rate of all steppers?
This might be an obvious question but I haven't been able to locate this answer
else where.
Many thanks,
Andrew

Hi folks,
the printer, a rework using a ramps 1.4, is assembled and I'm at the fine tuning the
steppers stage. My steppers are 0.9^/2.4a per coil and they are being driven by DRV8825.
I however are having problems with the z axis. I have run the DRV8825 in full step, 1/4 and 1/32.
I have varied the DRV8825 to output between 1A to 1.8A.
Multiple problems tend to occur. The most common when homi

Hi all again,
can someone explain to me how the thermistor tables are generated?
I unfortunately have fitted thermistors, epoc B57560G104F, which appear to
not be supported. I'm thinking of just entering the tables by hand but after
looking at thermistortables.h I can't see how it relates to the corresponding
temperature in the spec sheet.
I know the obvious solution is to replace the thermisto

Hi enif,
thanks for the info.
about an hour after I posted this I realised myself I had set extruders to 0.
I was just about to delete this post.
I blame too many hours banging my head against the printer.

Hi folks,
just starting compiling marlin for the first time when I'm getting these rather esoteric errors.
I've googled them and was only able get some answers on C/C++ sites that were rather
"difficult" to understand.
All help appreciated.

Hi folks,
I know this has probably been answered elsewhere buy I have been unable to
locate.
What is the typical amps that are needed to run a hotend at ABS temps?
Just curious because I want to tweak mine when it is finished and the amps
needed obviously affect what grade components I have to buy.
manu thanks,

Hi Vegasloki,
figured out quickly just doing a SAVE AS caused problems.
So I was just going to the github page and chosing the RAW format.
I have no idea how but it appears the files have decided to start working.
I'm just wondering if every single other time I was DL'ing them they were
getting corrupted.
Spot on about wanting to get the dimensions for the mounting holes. I was
thinking of get

Hi John,
Tried Inkscape and no joy. Also DL'd DWG Trueview, no joy.
Tried on another laptop and was able get the sc10uu file to display but
a dirty great triangle went across the middle.
Grabbed the files from Josefs github and the einstein github twice and they
still wont display on either machines.
Can someone post their dxf's in an attached zip?
I'm stumped to what is going one.

Hi folks,
new to the game and questions already.
Obviously eyeing off the prusa i3, probably einstein variant, so I dl'd all the
different frame dxfs to price etc. The files I have are,
Prusa3_SC10UU-v1.dxf
Prusa3ALU-FREZOVANY-v4.dxf
Prusa3WOOD-v4.dxf
Annoying none of them open to view. I have tried AutoDWG, AutoCAD 360
and Solidwork 2015 and none of them open or display anything on the screen
