i just had the same idea and found this thread
did you guys see this?
i'm very interested in this since it (and maybe some other configurations for multi-hotend) would allow for a single calibration point, which from my experience is the only way multiextrussion can be properly done in a delta

Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
nice blog!
seeing the pictures that is exactly the kind of diode laser i've seen on aliexpress
did you try to cut some stuff?
it should be able to cut 3 mm of balsa or so...

hi!
what about these ?
there is a couple of laser diodes + driver, ranging from 100mw to the more interesting 1-2W range
has anybody tried the performance of these chinesse lasers?
thanks guys!

ok! this seems to really be a faulty design by reprap discount
i wonder whether they are aware about it

yes i did.
i narrowed the problem down the the "rumba vs ramps" issue.
i guess the board is not as well designed as the ramps in some way.
i think more people might be having this issue -if not every rumba user-
but i think most of the people prints rather small objects so the problem is some times not noticed. at least that's for some people i know
also it might be less -as in smaller displace

hi!
yes, i had a huge fan, and heatsinks
its not diver related, sine i tested the same drivers on a ramps and rumba boards.
with any rumba i had missing steps. i'm not totally sure it's always the y axis -since i have a delta paralel bot- but i think so
i didn't try using an empty driver slot instead of the y-axis slot, and i will next week when i'm back home. then i will post the results here.

hi!
did you get any feedback from reprapdiscount?
i think i have the same issue. the problem is i have a delta so it's not easy to debug wigh of the axis is missing steps.
definitely though there is something going on with the rumba boards.
i have tested on the same machine diferent rumbas and a ramps board. even swaping the drivers to make sure its not a driver problem.
with rumbas the prints
