Here is a video. You can see I can manually drop and raise the pin but Z homing doesn't work. The pin never drops
Also, you can hear a change in speed from slow too fast when the bed starts to raise. Why is this?

I cannot for the life of me get the BLTouch to work with this firmware (1.0.2). i am running a Folgertech FT-5 with MKS 1.4 board. i have tried every possible combination of stuff. i loaded a copy of Marlin FW for the BLTouch and it worked fine.
I can get the probe to manually deploy and retract. when i home Z it doesnt deploy and i have to stop the printer so the bed doesnt crash into the head.

How do I get rid of the waves in the outside layers?
Looks like your extruder driver current is a little high. Check the Vref. You probably want to reduce the current on all of the steppers, they tend to run a little hot.
Here is a print where i lowered the voltage on the motors. This is a hollow cube.
you can see it looks good at the base where it is solid fill. then

Got Octoprint working....LOVE IT!
Excellent! I have really appreciated the ease it gives me, not to mention, I can initiate a print from the bedroom using my phone (I did this last night when I realized I had forgotten to start it).
I also added a relay control module ($7 from amazon) and can actually control power to the printer, and turn the LED lights I added to

Can this gold filament be saved??
you can see it is all popped and distorted while the white filament (extruded right after) is smooth.
i keep all my filament in an air tight container with moisture absorber.

anyone have any issue printing ESUN PETG? I can't print it with out the gear chewing it up. What settings are you using?
tried printing at 230, 235, 240C. Tried also with retract on and off. Both Cura and Slic3r.
No, I've run about 1/2 a roll so far. I did find that it strings like crazy if too hot (started at 245)

Yeah still stock. I do have an all metal one I bought. Is there any cautions running the all-metal head?
Just replace the two parts I mentioned. If you change heads then you'll never know what caused your problem.
I meant all metal heat break.

I am having a little quality issue.
I am using the following:
0.3 nozzle
head temp 230
bed temp 105
printing on kapton tape/glue stick
BLTouch autolevel
Hatchbox Copper ABS
So as you can see I am not sure if my head is too close to the bed or it is over extruding. The other picture shows the sidewall has some missing lines.
Any help would be appreciated.

Where would you guys reccomend buying abs plastic? I want decent quality not cheap crap.
-Sam
I've been using the Hatchbox from Amazon with very good success...
I run the same filament (abs and pla) and have no issues with it at all.

A word of caution for those looking to run unattended. Yesterday mine starting smoking and I found the power connector to the ramps board melted. It looks like the connector was not making good contact and overheated. From looking through other threads, it sounds like this is not uncommon and the connector may not be properly rated for the current it sees
