... it's the voltage level, what's changing with load - add an extra PS for the 5V-support ...
Thanks Viktor, do you mean add a power supply to the Due via the barrel socket power as well as the USB connection? (and if so is 9v OK?)

... they can be run with higher currents for better coolers ...
I not sure I would be able to leverage that higher current, I have 1.3A motors and cant even reach the VREF voltage of 0.83VDC, all my A4988 drivers top out around 0.78VDC due I assume to the 3.3V of the Due?

I have some real issues with the RADDS LCD.
When I have just the Arduino powered it's very dim, and I have to turn up the contrast, but then when I power on the PSU too, it become much brighter and I have to turn down the contrast and it flickers.
Then when I print, every-time the extruder motor is running the LCD get much dimmer while extruding or retracting????.
I don't think its sag from

Excluding the Micro stepping options, is there any advantage of switching to RAPS128, such as getting more out of the 3.3v from the Due?

Have you adjusted the contrast pot on the LCD?
I have a strange issue where I have to turn the contrast pot all the way up when I am running just the RADDS board through USB (or I just get the flickering screen like you), and then when I turn the power supply for the printer on, I then have to turn the contrast down (unfortunately I can find a middle ground setting that will display the LCD whe

Got the lcd and usb working using the cap mod on the Due, detailed here here But despite being lit up the LCD screen wont display data while the board it attached via usb regardless of if there is a serial connection or not.
So, there seems to be a problem with the screen displaying data when there is 5v coming in through the usb.

Is there a more appropriate place I should be asking this question?

Hello, first post and hope this is the right place to post!
I have installed a RADDS board in my i3 and and getting some unusual behaviour, the two main things:
USB Connections: Can only connect over USB if I have the 12v PSU switched off, if I try and connect with the power on I just get a unrecognised device error.
LCD: when ever I turn on the printer I have to hit the reset button on the
