these printers with M5 z rods dont like the pre set speed setting in the config.h file
about half way down the config.h
Quote//// MOVEMENT SETTINGS
#define NUM_AXIS 4 // The axis order in all axis related arrays is X, Y, Z, E
#define HOMING_FEEDRATE {50*60, 50*60, 4*60, 0} // set the homing speeds (mm/min)
change the 4*60 to 2*60 then your Z speed should be ok

Do you have a lcd connected to the printer, if you do, does it show the ambient temperature for the bed
can you measure the resistance of the thermistor when unplugged from the controller, it should measure ~100k ohms at room temperature

Sounds like wrong settings in the firmware rather than a host problem.

2.3v may be too high to trigger a low state,
make sure you have endstop pullup turned off for the pin you are using
Yes you need to connect the ground and output of the sensor to the endstop pins

Not sure about altering the z position while paused
But have you fine tuned your Z steps/mm, make sure that telling Z to move 100 mm actually does move 100 mm.

Is this a bead type thermister that is taped to the underside of the bed, or is it a chip type that is soldered to bed contacts ?

What parts are you trying to print, can you not lay them flat on the bed so they are not so tall.
I print pla on blue painters tape with bed temp at 50-55 deg, It sticks very well if there is enough suface area of the part in contact with the bed, smaller parts may need a 3-5 mm brim to help prevent corner warp, allso a part cooling fan will help.
If your nozzle is scraping the part when it ge

Just to add to this.
If you have a 2nd computer then you could run repetier server on the laptop and connect to the server via lan, i use this
on my mega and have not suffered any pauses or stutters during printing

With the coarse pitch, is it possible the weight of the bed is miss steps or move downwards
What torque motors are they?
just an idea .
i may be talking rubbish tho

You possibly have a G28 X0 Y0 in your slicers end gcode
you could add a G1 Y200

Firmware - Marlin
If the position of the X endstop is fixed, then set X home as -10 (or how far it is off the bed).
Then in your host printing program, like repetier or pronteface etc, you should be able to set the bed size as bed left = 0

Is this it ?
/**
* Z probes require clearance when deploying, stowing, and moving between
* probe points to avoid hitting the bed and other hardware.
* Servo-mounted probes require extra space for the arm to rotate.
* Inductive probes need space to keep from triggering early.
*
* Use these settings to specify the distance (mm) to raise the probe (or
* lower the bed). The values set here a

Try unrolling some filament from the roll as you print, so that the extruder is not having to pull the filament off the roll.
If it cures the problem, then you know its too much load on the extruder

any reprap mk3 heatbed is fine, pins 4 and 5 on your heatbed are if you want to fit a surface mount chip thermister, but most use the wired thermister like you have fitted atm

Sorry, dont know the anet firmware,
I use repetier which uses M322 to erase the matrix.but i doubt that will work on your firmware.

I have used prit stick or similar direct on the aluminium bed in the past, worked very well.

Use arduino version 1.6.12 this will compile and upload all versions of marlin

can you post a picture of the back of your heatbed
It probably has 2 connections for a chip thermistor but would be best to check

Just a thought, would beefing up the wiring help? If I've got my maths right 24V 15A is the same as 12V 30A.
If the wires from the power supply thru to the bed are not man enough for the amps , then yes you will get a voltage drop across them

How do you configure marlin to drop below your Z endstop? I've played with this but ended up crashing into the build plate.
Also, is Z home the same as Z0?
Send a G92 Z10 ; makes printer think its at z10 instead of Z0,
jog Zdown for paper test
Then send G92 Z0 ; resets Z0 to current position
Will the firmware keep the new Z0 setting?
For that i thin

I use mk3 alluminium bed coated in blue tape, the best temp i have found for medium size prints is 55-60
In your slicer setting's set the initial layer height to 0.25 or 0.3 and set the 1st layer extrusion width to 200%
I allso print the 1st layer (pla) at 200 then drop to 195 for the rest, helps it stick to the bed better (slic3r has tis setting, not sure if cura has tho).

After doing a G29, measure the gap from bed to nozzle then edit the eeprom with repetier and enter the probe offset
*personally i prefer repetier firmware for auto bed levelling

Does it have glass or other coating ?

I believe the later versions of arduino have problems compiling marlin(or they used too)
I use arduino ver. 1.6.12 with no problems
For u8glib goto u8gli d/l
download the zip at bottom of page
unzip the u8glib folder into your arduino/libraries folder

It definitely sounds like your heatbed has a short circuit, can you measure any resistance(ohms) from the heatbed terminals to the alluminium?
If it is shorted then it is/has probably blown the fuse that feed power to the bed.
What board do you have ?
