I got my hot end working last night (oo...errr!)
By measuring the target/reported RepSnapper temparature against teh real temparature with at thermometer I found that (at around 200'C range) RepSnapper reports a temp about 30'C aboce the real temparature.
That seems a lot (is it?)
Maybe I do have the the wrong resistance tables for the thermistor - I'll put that on list of things to check.

Hi,
I am, indeed, using RepSnapper. And it's GEN6 electronics. I['m not sure of the firmware version - it's whatever is the most up to date stuff from mendel-parts - I'm a bit worried that I don't know how to answer the question - I suspect I probably should be able to
I bought myself a thermometer that can measure up to 300'C. And then used it to properly calibrate the RepSnapper reported te

Madkite,
It all looks as if it's coming along very nicely - excellent stuff!
I've finally updated my website now (including my RP part to hole size, etc mapping) -
I'll be interested to see your pictures once they're done. Damn fine idea.
Cheers

Madkite,
I had precisely the same problem as you and had precisely the same idea. I finished my mechnical build this weekend (though I temporarly broke my extruder while trying to get it to work so progress has stalled for a few days).
I finished my 'hole size' sheet yesterday - so, haven't uploaded it yet. I may take a few days till I get round to putting on my blog site so here's the basic ma

"thermistor table"?
What's that?
(perhaps the fact I don't know that is the root of my problem?)
Here's what I'm using:
It says on the resister (I think) - 6 Ohm 8V1 - 6%
Also the heater block is about 10mm from the very end of the nozzle. Would it cool back down again in that distance?
Cheers

Hi,
Another post due to the sudden working of my mendel (ish)
I'm testing the extruder. For the moment I'm only worried about making it extrude (not actual shapes or sticking to bed yet)
I'm using ABS with a temperature of 250 (in RepSnapper). I think my filiment driver is OK but not great. It will draw in (and reverse) filiment but not 100% of the time (a little gentle push/pull helps sometim

Sorted! Looking good now - all axis move correctly and all find their home correctly

Hi,
I just got my mendel working (hooray!) and want to set my 'steps per mm' (e.g. to compensate for a 100mm move only going 85mm)
I'm using Gen6 electronics and RepSnapper. I'd like to follow the steps given here:
However, the instructions (I think?) refer to the RepRap software. Or possibly the firmware. So, not applicable to a RedSnapper user?
Can anyone help tell me how I'd change my XAx

Hi,
I've reached a monumental moment today. Finsihed my build and now have a printer that does things (heats extruder, moves all axis) - Hooray!
However.............I've some odd X-axis opto switch behavour. When the x-flag breaks the infrared beam it doesn't stop the carriage moving further left. But it does stop me moving it back to safety (i.e. right). The Z and Y work fine (stops me moving

Cheers for the info guys - i've noted it down
I'm working out my best sourcing for spare parts (my current build is almost done and I'm getting a feel for the things that will break early on).
I almost screwed up one thermistor already (and am fairly sure I will do so fully soon)
Thanks

Hi,
Can anyone let me know the technical detail regarding the Extruder Heating Resister please.
(as per this )
I'm think enough so I can easily locate one online and order some
Thanks

I didn't think there were many overhangs but I could well be talking bollox. I'll have another look.
I'll also look at the Prusa part(s?) that do the same job. I think I'm a long way off redesigning parts but one day, one day.............

Hi,
I'm in the process of building my Mendel (slow progress). Last night I was putting together some parts for the x-axis, and the Vert-bearing-180 in particular ( ).
I had a devil of a time reaming the holes in the x-axis-side-plate-nut-jig to be a suitable fit for the M4 trapped nuts (i.e. filing the imperfectly printed holes to be nice M4 nut hexagons). The finished vert-bearing looks OK bu

Hi,
(not sure if I've really put this question in the right place - 'Reprappers' - but I couldn't spot an obvious 'general questions about build materials' category)
My printer build is plodding along, I've evn kicked my blog off (www.Flackster.me.uk/reprap/). So I need not worry about this for a while but I was thinking about my build materials
As I understand it printing is done using either
