I have just launched a new site with some filaments for sale and I'd love for you guys to check it out. I have a selection of Filaflex flexible filament in stock and I am currently the only reseller in the US. If you have been wanting to try this but weren't sure about the high shipping fees and delivery times from Europe, now is your chance! I also have some Taulman filaments including theby PxT - For Sale
#3 is out now. I enjoyed it, but I think it needs help from a proof-reader to fix some of the grammar & spelling errors. Nothing personal, so please don't take it the wrong way.by PxT - RepRap magazine
Finally getting back to my build after a long hiatus. I have just about completed the physical build now. I got my problems with the printable bushings solved by reaming them out a bit more, they were just too tight before. One thing that I spent a lot of time on was the drive cables. I swear I did and re-did those several times each and I still don't think they are really tight enough. Theby PxT - Tantillus
A couple of issues that I have run into: The LMU bearings in the X/Y are a good friction fit but not a tight fit. Sliding the print head can cause them to come out of the carriage. Suggestions? What is supposed to hold the linear rods in place? There is no tension holding them in the 608 bearings so the friction from the movement of the X/Y carriage is enough to pull them out of place. No questions today, just thought I would post an update. I'm making progress. Got the hot end, X/Y, and extruder assembled.by PxT - Tantillus

What are the consequences if the coating gets scraped off? Mine was a REALLY tight fit and did end up scraping a bit.by PxT - Tantillus
Forgive my ignorance, but how do I use those files to get the exact dimensions? How thick should the material be? I can cut something out of acrylic or plywood on my table saw and drill the appropriate holes but I'm not sure how to proceed just based on those files. I guess I could assemble everything else and measure based on that but it seems like the dimensions should be available as a refeby PxT - Tantillus
What are the specs/requirements for the print bed? There is nothing about it in the BOM or the wiki. From the gallery on tantillus.org I gather it is a two-piece bed, are there dimensions available? Measurements for the hole placement?by PxT - Tantillus
Just noticed that there doesn't seem to be a provision for mounting the LCD/encoder on the printed case (no cutout window as found on the acrylic case). Kinda bummed, I really want the LCD. Any reason this wasn't designed into the plastic version?by PxT - Tantillus

Also, is there a recommended fill setting for some of the other printed parts? I'm guessing the gears should be printed with a pretty high infill (90%?) but is 20% fill good for things like the brackets, motor mounts, etc. or do you recommend a higher value?by PxT - Tantillus
I'm progressing along with my build pretty well so I figured I would start a thread to track my progress, and hopefully get a few hints along the way. I have now printed the entire case twice. The first time my calibration was slightly off, causing all the parts to be stretched vertically by a small amount. Unfortunately I didn't inspect the parts closely enough as they were printing and I didnby PxT - Tantillus
Thanks, so just to confirm are these right? 1 - Top front connector (top_front.stl) 2 - Top side connectors (2x top_side.stl) 1 - Rear lower connector (top_rear_lower.stl) 1 - Rear upper connector (top_rear.stl) 3 - Middle connectors (middle_front.stl, 2x middle_side.stl) 3 - Base connectors (base_front.stl, 2x base_side.stl) 1 - Motor mount reinforcement (base_rear.by PxT - Tantillus
The BOM calls for "1 Motor mount reinforcement" for the printed case. Which STL does that correspond to? I can't find it under the Printed Case directory.by PxT - Tantillus
Thanks. Here's my first pass at orienting them in case anyone is interested. I haven't tried printing these yet, will do when I get back to my printer later.by PxT - Tantillus
The README on github says that the "Connectors are currently not oriented for printing (may 24, 2012+).". So how are we supposed to print these? What needs to be done to make them printable and/or what steps do I need to take? Thanksby PxT - Tantillus
