QuoteRobonz For Kisslicer M140 S0 turns off the heated bed, just stick that in ptr gcode-> N* layers set the layer number to the layer you want to turn it off at. I have not tested this but it should work. Personally I leave it on for the whole print but if I was to turn it off I would run at least 20 to 30 layers at 100um layer height I've been running my bed at 50c and it is working veryby SkyArcher - Tantillus
Is there a way to turn off the heat bed in the middle of the run? I think that once you've laid down the first 5-10 layers, the heat is no longer needed.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Thanks Robonz. That was a very interesting video. I made a silicone pad/ aluminum/ wood bed like wingnut's bed then I hooked up my power supply to both 12v input on the Ramps board. Then connected the headed bed to D8 and the 100k thermistor to t1. Then defined the bed thermistor in configuration.h as #6. Also un commented ### ENABLED BED_LIMIT_SWITCHING But I'm not sure that is right. I'by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Same here, Wardtech parts. The parts were good enough to get me going but I'm slowly going to replace as many parts as I need to. The biggest problem that I've had is that my extruder exploded. I didn't like the pulleys and didn't think that I could get any decent gears so I went direct drive. But I have to confess that Wards' parts are still better than 90% of MY prints so far.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Actually, if I had thought of using fishing lines, I would have. I didn't like the printed gears and pulleys that I got so I went direct drive. Now that it is done, I don't mind the motors sticking out. I could always make some kind of decorative cover.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
I went direct drive. It is not pretty but I didn't need a pretty box. Now the only noise comes from the extruder and I'm thinking about adapting some sort of Wade's extruder. I feel that the extruder needs more gear reduction to operate smoother and quieter.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
I had the same problem too. And I accidentally fixed it. So I'm not sure how I did it. But first off, When you send your z axis home, It should go up not down. You have to make sure that both the firmware and your wires are set for correct direction. I use the "Auto Home" function on the LCD instead of Pronterface. You have to heat up the hotend to change"Disable Home" to "Auto Home".by SkyArcher - Tantillus
What do you think of using a food dehydrator? I have one that I'm thinking of using.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Thanks for the tips. I have a sealed roll of taubman nylon just waiting to be used. What do you have for a heated bed?by SkyArcher - Tantillus
There is enough room for the LCD if you insert the LCD from the back to the front.. I had to laser cut a new hole in the front of a pre cut panel so the old LCD hole is still there. I covered it with that red panel. Also you need to cut an access hole in the side panel to access the SD Card.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
The LCD was plug n play. Just enable the LCD in Marlin and you're good to go.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
I just noticed the same thing last night and drilled out the hole in the front panel and glued a short piece of PTFE tubing. It appears to work great.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Yeah, I haven't figured out how to get my fan to run off D9 either. Tried sending M106 thru Pronterface but I got nothing. I'm sure that it is something simple.by SkyArcher - Reprappers
I had the same problem initially. My connectors were ABA-B- and I had to switch them around to AA-BB-. I used a multimeter to test which wires were which.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Check it out! I made a new hobbed bolt using a new 8-32 tap and using a jig in my drill press. I did it by hand last time and the teeth were not very good so I redid it with a new tap and used a jig and the teeth came out MUCH better. Re assembled the extruder and re calibrated the extruder and printed my first full cube.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
The holes in the shaft are for the cables, right? Try printing some shaft collars and use the shaft collars to anchor the cables.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
So I loosen the bolt a bit, retweaked the driver and tightened the idler gear and upped the temperature. Getting there. Is messy. Needs more tweaking. But why is the machine not finishing out the cube?by SkyArcher - Tantillus

Or between the > bearing and the gear's nut? Trap the gear between the two nuts and tighten. Loctite is a good idea.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
I used a lock nut against the gear/nut.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
I'm using the recommended J head from hot ends.com. The extruder stalls and grinds notches into the filament. I was able to push the filament into the hot end by hand and get a good extrude. I'm thinking of making another hobbed bolt. What do you think about using a 48mm nema 17 motor?by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Yeah, there appears to be something going on with the extruder. I did replace the tubing with a larger tubing and it appears that the filament is hanging up somewhere at the connection to the hot end. I'll investigate some more tonight.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Here is what I'm getting... I saw a similar picture somewhere and I can't for the life of me find it again. What do I need to look at?by SkyArcher - Tantillus
Well, almost did it. Bought a set of printed and lasercut parts off eBay. The parts ranged from pretty good prints to pretty bad. I'm guessing that the guy set up the printer overnight and started out printing good parts but the quality went down progressively overnight. Anyway, cleaned the parts and patched up split parts and as the vitamins showed up in the mail, assembled the pieces and hby SkyArcher - Tantillus
I always buy at least two of the cheap digital calipers in case one of them is bad. I have destroyed a couple of them and I'm now down to three of them. My best one I take good care of it and the other two are beaters. The good one works good but the other two have zeroing or battery problems.by SkyArcher - Reprappers
Also I don't see any clearance problems so far between the LCD panel and the bed. But I'm not done yet.by SkyArcher - Tantillus
