Yeah, I encountered the same thing, after assembly. It looks like the Visual Guide (which is what I was following) hasn't been updated to reflect the fact that the nut and washer isn't needed between the Y-axis and the fender/mud washer. See here (in red) for the update which isn't in the guide: I think I should be able to undue the entire rod and slide things in place to remove the extra partby johnbiehler - General
This works perfectly for me and I appreciate the 14th since I'll be away on the weekend before. Looking forward to it!by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
I have the countersunk build platform and skipped the wiper so now the surface is completely flat and covered in kapton tape. I didn't find specific instructions, just observed everyone else's. I've got some photos and video of mine here: Hope that helps!by johnbiehler - General
I bought (and highly recommend) the 4" kapton tape...ABS sticks like glue to it. Blue painters tape is okay (still better than the ABP) but kapton really works great. You only get a thin (width) roll of kapton with the ToM. Happy building! It's a fun process.by johnbiehler - General
I built a ToM in June and am one part away from having a Prusa printed on it. My rods & motors arrived this morning too. RAMPS should arrive next week. Definitely go with the HBP at the start, along with an aluminum build plate covered in Kapton tape...trust me, it's the best build surface for the ToM.by johnbiehler - General
Hi everyone. I'm a relatively new MakerBot Thing-O-Matic owner (June) that is just about done printing a Prusa Mendel and I hope to start assembling it this weekend. My 'plan' is to use the Prusa with PLA (1.75mm) and the Makerbot with ABS (3mm). I think I've figured out what I need and just wanted to get confirmation that I'm going down the right path before I place my electronics order. Iby johnbiehler - General
I'm also interested in some Canadian PLA. I've got a ton of (MakerBot) 3mm ABS for my Thing-O-Matic and am now building a Prusa that I want to use with 1.75mm PLA - unless someone tells me I'm being silly by going that route. Beyond natural or blue PLA, it's been a pain to track down some other color options that don't cost a fortune to ship here. What I really want is transparent green but reby johnbiehler - Canada, Vancouver RepRap User Group
Langley works great... Boston Pizza also works great...or a pub in that area. Unfortunately I'm out of town that first weekend. How about the 14th? Weeknights are generally better anyways (although I'm flexible)by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
