I just grabbed one from Lee's. I should be able to make this work again. Thanks for your help!by ernchesto - Tantillus
My endstop (z-axis) seems to have sh*t the bed, and isn't stopping bed travel. It seems to be the result of user error: I positioned the glass plate a bit too far in (inset from front edge of plexi bed) by mistake. When I homed the z, I got to helplessly watch the bed push into the endstop, without triggering it (not entirely sure if the cable was damaged). The result now, however, is that the zby ernchesto - Tantillus
Not likely the detailed info you're seeking, but I'll chime in. I've not been printing at the same rate as many of you, and am slightly less obsessive (read: hack) about calibration. But I've generally been getting good results from the settings your provided Sublime. I'm certainly not versed enough with the KS settings to really make changes that work for the better in general. I've created somby ernchesto - Tantillus
This looks great! Thanks. Look forward to familiarizing myself with it.by ernchesto - Tantillus
If the hobbed bolt nut was coming loose and putting pressure on the motor, it would apply forces down on the side of the motor closest to X 0, Y 0 During my issues with it, I've had the nut burrow slightly into the motor housing, and the evidence is shown on two faces (as I'd rotated the motor after the first time to be able to identify repeat of the problem). Anyway, mine ground into the metal wby ernchesto - Tantillus
Thanks Sublime. Oops - I've not followed the retraction calibration. Looks like I've got the cart before the horse! I've just started playing with a small test bridge, so I'll do some messing..by ernchesto - Tantillus
Being inspired by this, I went and made and printed a hollow box myself. I was doing it as a bit of a small test piece after re-tightening and loc-tite-ing the hobbed bolt nut. I'm impressed with the results I got, but you've set the bar pretty friggin' high Lem! I'm wondering if anyone can tell me a good means of reducing the 'strings' that occur when the head jumps across gaps (see images).by ernchesto - Tantillus
Hopefully my final update: So I took my extruder apart and found that the loosened hobbed bolt nut was the culprit. The attached image shows how it had dropped so low that it was, in fact, grinding its way into the servo - causing all the excess friction and wiggy extruder behaviour. What do people think about addressing this issue, as I'd put my money on it happening again. Loctite? - the red sby ernchesto - Tantillus
Well, yes it is. It was skipping and grinding while extruding. So I unloaded the filament and needed to assist it by pulling. While pulling, the hobbed bolt rose up ~3/16" (see attached). This makes me wonder if my troubles are related to the loosening nut on the end of the hobbed bolt - anyone experience this. The main reason I'm asking is that I'm being lazy and I'm really not wanting to rebby ernchesto - Tantillus
Alrighty - swapped the resistor out (it was cooked), and now I'm able to pre-heat Now to see if the extruder is still being a bastage....by ernchesto - Tantillus
OK, thanks. I'll do that this evening.by ernchesto - Tantillus

Well, I'm still having the issue of no pre-heat. I've inspected the board (to the best of my knowledge) and inspected and re-attached both the heater wires and the thermometer wires to the board. Is there anything else that I can try/check before I have to remove all the shrink-wrap, connector sleeves, etc. This is something that I'm really not that keen on doing, as it seems like a bit of witchby ernchesto - Tantillus

I dunno what's up with it. The red light turns on as soon as I click pre-heat (both LCD and pronterface) but there's no change in temp. I had to walk away and get my ass outside. I'll look at it tomorrow and see if I can figure out what's up. @Polygonhell - I'm printing 3mm and there's no bubbling or foaming that I've noticed. I'll keep an eye out for that though. Cheers.by ernchesto - Tantillus
Good tip Gerald - I just tried printing it and it came out with the density of a cheesy. So I've attached a pic of some extruded filament (this happened when I used the LCD to unload filament - it went nuts and started extruding and making a bunch of noise) that shows how filthy this stuff is, or how dirty it is in my hot end (that just doesn't sound right ). I just wanted to post a pic of whatby ernchesto - Tantillus
Ok - I'll give that a go in the morning. Thanks.by ernchesto - Tantillus
OK - I've just had days of really, really nice print quality. Yesterday, however, it seems to all have gone to shit. I've been having (until now) success with the Standard Tantillus Config settings for Slic3r. {Oh, and I figured out what was giving me the errors when using pronterface and trying to load the configs -> pronterface was loading Slic3r 7.1, rather than 7.2b. So that's solved.} Sby ernchesto - Tantillus
I just put vaseline onto the z-axis rods and threaded rod. It seems to have mellowed out the noise here. Have yet to print with the change.by ernchesto - Tantillus
I'm randomly getting similar grinds and growls. Jeff's suggestion of realigning the motor sounds like a good one that I'll try next if it continues. I had actually tightened the little coupler clamp, as I was also getting some slippage. But what I've been finding is that it seems to warm up and then be fine??by ernchesto - Tantillus
Hi Lisa, What I'm finding is that every print is teaching me something new about the setup. Sublime has prepared some out of the can sweetness that you can barely pay through an orifice for commercially. Your footage gave the impression that your machine is just starting to stretch its legs, and that very good things are on your way. Let Tantillus show you what it can do - and do ensure that yby ernchesto - Tantillus
Hey congrats Lisa! It sounds so quiet and frigging perfect. I just came on here to express the joy that I'm feeling finally having the capacity to print great resolution material cultureby ernchesto - Tantillus
I was getting the same 'unknkown options' when loading slic3r via pronterface (maybe even just when pronterface was open). I've started to not use pronterface and print from the SD. All works swimmingly now.by ernchesto - Tantillus
