@foundwanting - as you will. Ez was CTO for two different companies after abandoning Trinity. He was a great guy, with a wild imagination and vision - and like many folks with that skillset, sorely lacking in the ability to actually run a business. I for one will miss him.
Thoughts and condolences to Regan and Ryland.

Guys - quick question - I have a pretty well tuned repetier firmware config that works perfectly about 99% of the time. The other 1% is doing my head in - on "slow" moves - like running at a max of 20mm/s for my first layer - some moves are causing skipped steps. I think it's happening on short moves only - like going from one perimeter loop to another one.
Complicating the issue is that it

Firmware - mainstream and related support
And here... Cylinder magnets and Chromed steel spheres seem to be the most cost effective combo.

Guys - I'm running Repetier Host on three different computers, driving three different printers, all running Repetier firmware.
Since the upgrade, each printer / computer combination has experienced random "pauses" where the planner buffer empties, and the printer is waiting on the host for more moves. It only lasts for a second or so, but it's enough to stop the head, which obviously causes a

Isn't that what bobc was doing originally? I keep getting distracted by Smoothie, but this does have too much potential do just let fall by the wayside...

Hmmm, I'm not so sure on this one. I saw a plain piece of aluminum that had been cut into a strange shape, anodized black, had the name "PRUSA" cut into the top, and even had what appeared to be a signature on it. This may be a conspiracy!

Guys - excellent articles, and I particularly enjoyed the on Z-Axis wobble and the various slicers.
Please note, however, that the problem that Rich experienced with KISS on the stretchlet was due to his configuration....

Can't touch RichRap yet, but this is mine - ~ 11mm tall version of Ben's Sun Vase, sliced with Slic3r at .14mm layers. I think I can go smaller, but this is a bit of a hairy model to retain detail!

Nophead - can you think of an easy failsafe for the cartridge heaters? I started looking at thermal links, but didn't find anything in the 260-300c sorta range I wanted.
I like the premise, but I've run one of the cartridges up to 400c before I chickened out - and ceased to have an accurate way to measure the temperature. I suspect based on the math I could get it up to close to the melting poi

Would you like some cheaper boards?!
Seriously - with the choice of HTSSOP package, have you looked at your max unsinked amperage?

Look what I made!
I'd be a bit cautious just plugging the fan directly onto the power rails on the board - and for god's sake don't plug directly into the control lines.

Looks like I have someone new to follow Nophead! Mine's bigger than yours, but I've got some TSOP's coming in today! ;-)

Boy - wish I'd read this thread sooner - would have saved me some time. So wifey decided she wanted a 3D printer - hey, that's why I married her - so I decided to pick up a "pre-build & calibrated" Mendel Prusa. Went to pick it up, and the seller toasted the motor controllers, which should have been a sign to walk the heck away, but he manged to get it "fixed", printed some stuff, and the w
