I ended up with purchasing the glowbug yellow filament from Faberdashery. It is glowing fine in the dark, see the attached image for a glow in the dark crystal I printed with it.by JD1 - General
I just wanted to say that I have now used the Mendel90 for over half a year and it is working great, my warmest thanks to Nophead for a nicely designed 3D printer!by JD1 - Mendel90
Thanks again for all the replies and help, I appreciate it. I spent the day calibrating the printer and printing out an army of android-prints, now finally I have managed to get fine prints. My calibration consisted of turning the z lead screws and adjusting the two pillars at the front of the bed. I also loosened up the screws a little which sits at the extruder pressing the filament. I didn'by JD1 - Mendel90
Thank you for all the help, I really appreciate the engagement on this forum. The problem I had with the print sticking too hard was due to the layer being too low as suggested, I changed Z_HOME_POS in the Marlin configuration by one number downwards and now I have no problem at all removing my prints. I have been playing around the whole day with the calibration, but by my latest print which lby JD1 - Mendel90
I did my first print today with my Mendel90, all seemed to go well until the print was completed and it was time to remove it. When I tried to remove it, I just couldn't get the print off the headbed no matter how hard I tried. I removed the glass sheet from the heatbed and waited for an hour, but the print was still stuck solidly to the glass and I couldn't get it off even when using a screwdrivby JD1 - Mendel90
I have now installed another ATX PSU and done my first print with the Mendel90 The print looked ok overall (better than I expected for my first print), although I had great trouble removing the print from the print bed. I will make another thread about this, since it is unrelated to to the issue with the PSU. Nophead, thanks again for helping me resolving this and for a nicely designed printer!by JD1 - Mendel90
Thanks again for the help Nophead. How would I be able to spot a short circuit on one of the rails? I have now disconnected the power supply from the Melzi and manually connected the green wire to a black wire, but still nothing when I switch it on. Instead of you sending me another power supply, I am thinking of just picking up another PSU at my local hardware store. I can't find one with the eby JD1 - Mendel90
Nophead, thanks for the reply and help. I purchased the power cable brand new a couple weeks ago and I also tried another cable from an electronics device which I know is working, but the power supply won't run. The green wire is linked to a black wire as they are soldered to the 4R7 resistor. I haven't pressed the reset button for the Melzi, I meant the power on switch for the power supply (thby JD1 - Mendel90
Ralph, thanks for the help. I disconnected the yellow wires from the Melzi and powered it up, but the PSU fan doesn't go on now either. The wiring to the load resistors seems to be fine, although I will possibly do a resoldering of them just to be sure. Are there other things apart from these and a faulty power supply which could cause this?by JD1 - Mendel90
Hi, This is the first time I am trying to start my Mendel90 after assembling the kit. I have plugged in the power cable and pressed the power on button (Initialize), but nothing happens. The PSU fan doesn't start and the printer is just completely dead. I have tried disconnecting and connecting again the PSU black and PSU yellow wire, but to no effect unfortunately. I am clueless as to what isby JD1 - Mendel90
Thanks for all the replies and help, I appreciate it. At this moment I prioritize quality instead of low price and I am therefore leaning towards the Glowbug filament from Faberdashery. My main concern is that the filament really should have a good clear glow in the dark, hopefully the filament from Faberdashery will live up to my expectations.by JD1 - General
Hi, I am currently in the process of purchasing filament for my newly-assembled Mendel90 and thought that glow in the dark filament would be neat. I am considering buying from seller "3d Printer Supplies" at Amazon, but first wanted to hear your thoughts. Do you know of any supplier preferably in the EU for good PLA filament that glows in the dark? Thanks in advance!by JD1 - General
QuackingPlums, thank you very much for the help. Now I understand! No polarity, that's great news since I thus won't need do any rewiring of the corresponding GND and Signal. I will simply cut of the exposed wire of Ribbon 5 for the probe or possibly thread a heatshrink over it.by JD1 - Mendel90
Hi, First of all, let me thank NopHead for a nicely designed printer and a great instructions manual. I have just completed assembling my kit (purchased from NopHead) for the Mendel90. Prior to plugging in the printer and testing it out, I have some questions concerning the electronics wiring for the Melzi terminal. I am a little confused as to the correct order of the wires for GND and Signalby JD1 - Mendel90
