Thanks. I thought that too, but the red PLA has been in a bag, and in a box, both with silica packs. I'll try again tonight with another type. Perhaps also try ABS.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
Hi Guys I have not used my Mendel90 for a couple of months due to work. Last weekend I spent some time getting it back up and running. Essentially it's just sat dormant, so I cleaned it up and checked it all over. I need to print another Wades Idler Block as the current one has a small crack in it. But the prints are coming out poor. See the attached pic: I've played with the settings aby IntelliTom - Mendel90
uhm, so how does it know where the bed is, if there is no hardware addition?by IntelliTom - Mendel90
Hi Guys I've been having some troubles with my build platform. When I level the heated plate using a digital caliper in all four corners, the glass sheet 'rocks' between 2 corners. After fiddling with it, I've noticed the heated build plate is bowed in the middle. This could well be my fault through heavy handed adjustments. Not sure if it's fixable, perhaps trying to pack cardboard under thby IntelliTom - Mendel90
ok I've been testing this over the past couple of days. I did an initial test with using the same file but direct from the SD card in the Melzi and no reset jumper. First print was a total success and I thought I'd solved it. However, second print failed 1/3 in. Same issue where it just stopped mid print with no error. So last night I went over the whole machine, snugged up all bolts, screwsby IntelliTom - Mendel90
Whilst I agree that it would be nice to have better quality prints, those examples look very good to me. Comparing to my best and worse prints, I don't think I have ever achieved better than your examples.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
I recently had to return a reel of what was supposed to be ABS to a supplier. Not sure what's going on in the filament world, but it seems to be a huge mixed bag. @Ralph: Do you find the polystyrene base has helped reduce noise\vibration? I noticed a significant drop when using the printed 'feet' from Thingiverse, but your idea looks good also.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
Joe, I have had very little success with bare glass. Even with cleaning it with acetone and lint free cloths. You will find that what works for some people, does not work for others. Your room environment seems to make a big difference, as does the filament type, brand and quality. Make sure you have no drafts in the room and it's not too cold or too warm. Hi For the past week my Mendel90 has started playing up. The main issue is that once in a while the printer just stops during printing. i.e all motors stop exactly where the nozzle is in the print. As if the power had been cut, but it's still powered, PSU fan is still running. I think the heaters are also still on. But no indication in Pronterface of a problem. It's as if it's waiting to sby IntelliTom - Mendel90
This is a great design! Would there be any reason NOT to enclose this on all three sides (using a door, obs)? My workshop has constant traffic in and out and drafts are in abundance. 2 full plywood sides and 1 clear acrylic door would add to rigidity and I could add some fans for cooling and ventilation.by IntelliTom - Delta Machines
I would strongly suggest you just buy the full kit from Nophead. It comes with everything you need to get printing. All included parts of of a high quality and you can be sure that it WILL work. Even with getting the full kit from Nophead, the build process is intense. My overiding thought during the week it took me to build it was "I'm glad I didn't have to source all these parts myself!!".by IntelliTom - Mendel90
Hi Guys Quick question. Occasionally I'm getting PLA prints lift up from the bed. I'm experimenting with different configurations to solve this. But to save the odd print that decides to lift halfway through, would it be possible to quickly run a blob of quick setting CA glue under the edge that's lifting? On the assumption that Acetone should\could release it at the end of the print? Doesby IntelliTom - General
Keep us up to date on this. I'm moving in your direction, but much slower Managed to get OctoPi setup but still juggling work commitments to really get everything setup goodby IntelliTom - Mendel90
FYI: I get this loud squeeling too. A light spray of dry PTFE normally stops it for a couple of days, but it always comes back. I've double triple checked alignment of all the axis. Weirdby IntelliTom - Mendel90
Hi Guys Anyone going to the show this weekend? I can't make my mind up. Part of me thinks it won't show me anything I can't see online and similarly there probably won't be many 'interesting' deals to be had. Anyone been before, is it worth the slog up to London and £20 entrance?by IntelliTom - General
I would be interested in this. It would be great to be able to turn off the machine completely at the end of the print. I often leave it running at night or when at work. The other things I was thinking was to hook up a relay through an Arduino or RPi, but your method seems much simpler!by IntelliTom - Mendel90
It should be clearer. I bet thousands of people, new to git hub, have the same problem. I know I did.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
I'm no expert, but it looks like something is too hot? Have you tried bringing the nozzile temp down a bit? How warm is the room you are in?by IntelliTom - Mendel90
muelli: re-take the pic either with a tripod from above or set something up that can take the pic from above. Then take the pic with the timer function, to minimise shaking. This pic is still hard to see detail.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
What do you mean when you say you can't connect? PronterFace? Have you selected the right com port and baud (com port could have changed). Are you using a different or much longer cable?by IntelliTom - Mendel90
It's a shame, I think it would really help those of us understand these settings so we can experiment on our own. QuoteMogal I started this thread awhile back, but it never really cought on...by IntelliTom - Mendel90
I just tried it myself Garry and it's the same for me.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
Scratch that. It now uploads fine. Thanks again Smuk3Dby IntelliTom - Mendel90
Thank you Smuk3D Downloaded.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
Would you like a free place to store it online?by IntelliTom - Mendel90
What version is it? I tried 1.01 and 1.02 and got similar errors. Have you altered the actual arduino code? I realise it was silly to delete the arduino directory, but now I'm up the creek...by IntelliTom - Mendel90
oh no, not Faber, it was 3D Filaprint? I think? I'm not having much luck at all today. So I updated the arduino IDE with the Melzi settings, made the edite for Z_HOME_POS and clicked upload. I got the following error: == C:\3d-arduino\hardware\arduino\cores\arduino\IPAddress.cpp: In member function 'virtual size_t IPAddress::printTo(Print&) const': C:\3d-arduino\hardware\arduino\cores\ardby IntelliTom - Mendel90
I'm surprised also. The machine is on a solid table and has not been moved or bumped in any way. I double checked that the nuts on the screws where properly seated and they all seem fine.by IntelliTom - Mendel90
uhm, so in Skeinforge, I select the ABS profile and slice the file. That should use start_ABS.gcode to set temps? Because I'm doing that and the resulting gcode has S185 for both temps? How does the profile link to the gcode file?by IntelliTom - Mendel90
