Alright. My Mendel90 is fully assembled. Wiring is done. What melzi board does nophead use?by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
Thank you Tim. I have placed an order for some jumpers. I hate that SaintSmart sales this without the jumpers.by liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
Alright, I am setting up my Mendel90. I have attached a picture with red highlighted squares. Do these pins need to be jumped for every driver? What do they do? My RAMPS 1.4 board came with none from SaintSmart. My stepper motors vibrate and make noise when trying to move them. Mos of the time they wont move. https://scontent-mia1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10489671_851277131575930_604by liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
Ah! I am in the process of configuring my firmware for my RAMPS 1.4 and also having similar issues. I finally got my hotend and thermistor working. My motors are making a buzz sound but not rotating. I also believe it is just a configuration. Hopefully this thread will help us both.by liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
Quotecdru I can almost guarantee you that you don't have #8. 0603 SMD is a surface mount form factor size. The Ubis looks to have a glass bead. 1 and 6 are very popular, but honestly unless you know for sure many of them might be close, but might not. I found a reference that said the Ubis thermistor looked identical to an EPCOS, but it wasn't very authoritative and looks can be deceiving so Iby liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
I selected: // 8 is 100k 0603 SMD Vishay NTCS0603E3104FXT (4.7k pullup) and uploaded the firmware. Once connected to the board in Repetier-Host it now gives me this error: extruder switched off mintemp triggered Any ideas which other thermistor it might be? Because I should not be prevented from moving the motors since it is at 0 degrees. Another possible setting in the configuration.h file?by liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
Quotecdru Our thermistors are usually NTC, negative temperature coefficient. As them goes up, resistance goes down. Maxtemp would indicate very low resistance, possibly indicating a short. However with everything unplugged, that's less likely but it still could be a problem with the RAMPS board. Check the solder joints to make sure there isn't any stray solder bridges. Also double check that youby liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
Printer: Mendel90 Ubis Hot End Electronics: Arduino Mega2560 with a RAMPS 1.4 shield. Software: Repetier-Host Problem: I connect my board via USB. I lunch Repetier Host. I connect. I get error 0: extruder switched off maxtemp triggered. Additional Information: Error happens with everything plugged into the board or with nothing plugged in. Leads me to believe it has something to do with a conby liquidnyquiz - RAMPS Electronics
Yup I used slic3r. No wonder. Is ok I can use a square nut for a perfect fit.by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
Thank you. Honestly I just have a hard time finding the information on your blog. I'm not a blog person And my last question is, what prevents the nut from rotation if it doesn't sit inside a hex? I assume the weight of the X axis is what holds the nut steady as the threaded rod spins?by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
Here is what I mean, it doesn't stay. Goes right through.by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
I have the 8mm hex brass nut, however, it does not require pressure to go in. Is almost like the hex cutout is to big. When I place the nut in, it goes right through and out the other side. Any ideas? Any rigs out there?by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
Thank you all for your answers. I have decided to go with the Pibot setup. They are out of stock for a month! =( . I shall wait. It has taken me 2 months to gather the parts and put it all together, whats 1 more month for electronics. On a side note, Nophead I found it very time/expensive sourcing all the bolts/nuts. Any chance you will provide a kit for this? Or change the design to use more ofby liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
So you guys are saying with the stepper driver A4988, which almost everyone uses, 2 nema17 stepper motors in series will do the job? My current board is an all in one from Printrbot running my Printrbot Simple. Current will determine the holding torque, and voltage will determine speed?by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
Ah yes I had forgot that Repetier-Host supports a few firmwares. Thank you. My concern is, how do you go about powering the 2 z motors of the same driver? Parallel will devide the amperes. What are the dangers with running the stepper motor at lower amperes than rated for? Skip steps? I guess I am confused on how you would use a board setup for 3 axis motors and run an extra one with no consequby liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
Hi! I am in the process of building my mendel90. I am at the last step choosing electronics. I am really interested in running Repetier for firmware so I can use Repetier-Host. I was looking at Pibot ( www.pibot.com ). Does anyone have any other suggestions for boards that will run repetier firmware?by liquidnyquiz - Mendel90
This has been posted before, however, it did not solve my issue or answer my question. Question: I realize that Slic3r is telling me that the part will not fit in my print area due to it wanting to print a Skirt around the model. I have disabled Skirt. It still gives me same error. So I scale the model to 80% and recenter it. It slices the model this time, but the Skirt is still there, even do iby liquidnyquiz - Slic3r
