Indeed - hence keeping it simple as David is suggesting.by T3P3 - Ormerod
I agree that keeping it simple and affordable is the way forward. For those who want a large feature set there is the option of using a R-Pi or similar with a touch screen. ... effectively having a mini PC connected.by T3P3 - Ormerod

quaking plums has hit the nail on the heat. The Panelolu2 is there as a hands on control, where as the more remote webs based options usch as octoprint have a lot more features but you are then fishing for a phone/tablet/pc to use them.by T3P3 - Mendel90
Also Core XY is a popular option which I know is being worked on (I have the sample code from a customer, just not had a chance to test/integrate it yet)by T3P3 - Controllers

Hi Tolstoi I know BobC startd looking at his Marlin port to Due to see how much more work it was to port it to Duet. Not sure how far he got with that though. Any reason why you have to have Marlin compatibility? Cheers Tonyby T3P3 - General
Quotejstck I guess only time it would make a difference is when you do web-uploads of gcode files. Everything else should be really low bandwidth. Yes - and that would make more sense to store on the "on board" SD cardby T3P3 - Ormerod
Quotejstck I would in no way be displeased if it came with an SD card reader, I just don't have any use for it and just assume most Ormerod users have network connectivity to their printer. But if it is cheap and easy to include, by all means, of course do it. If using the SPI lines, would it just be a "duplicate" of the on-board SD slot? So, wherever the card is inserted it will work the same? (by T3P3 - Ormerod
Regarding the second SD card. having it on the LCD controller makes a lot of sense - It is much more accessible than the controller which could be buried within the internals of the machine. We have found with the Panelolu2 and the Melzi that most people moved to using the one on the Panelolu2 because it was more convenient. If you are worried about data transfer rate then you could connect the Dby T3P3 - Ormerod
Hi Ivor thanks, I will try both and let you know. For the fridge magnets I have a bit of time until the tpe is delivered to think of designs - something that emphasises the versatility of 3d printing would be good. No ideas as yet. Cheers Tonyby T3P3 - Reprappers
Ivor I really like the trolley tokens - great idea I will print one and try it on a trolley ASAP, you may need to make it a £1 thickness and have all the text indented though for it to fit. I have ordered some of this to try: for fridge magnets Cheers Tonyby T3P3 - Reprappers
Hi Luis I replied by email but will put this up here in case anyone else searches for it. The trace thickness is 70uM on the oter layers and 35uM on the inner layers. The FET data sheet is here: An analysis of the heating with a 10A draw, in still ambient (25C) air is on our blog duet-fet-psu-and-stepper-driver-testing, only a 15C temperature rise. With 20A we will see a 50C temperature rise.by T3P3 - General

Check the pins.h in the think3dprint3d version for the correct endstop in numbers for RAMPS. Also if it wont connect then have you set the baud rate in Repetier to 115200?by T3P3 - Delta Machines
This is a slight modification on Johann's firmware (modifications just for our mini kossel changes) which you can try: It works well with our mini kossel kit Cheers Tonyby T3P3 - Delta Machines
Hi RDM6 We have found there are no issues with using an untoothed idler, rather than an pulley, however i have seen a design using a pulley as well. Cheers Tonyby T3P3 - Delta Machines
NumberSix, All This is a great start - I printed it in <10min on a Mini Kossel, then tried it scaled down 50% - about the size op a poker chip and its really quick <5min. The only issue is with it scaled down the text is no longer discernable so it would be good if you could make the text thicker so the slicer leaves a big enough gap. Other ides for useful objects would be good. so far Iby T3P3 - Reprappers
Looking good! will do a test print tonight. Hopefully more people will come up woith designs and we can have a goodie bag full!by T3P3 - Reprappers
Yeah a simple display such as the one described is trivial with the built in arduino library for character LCDs, the harder work it to design a generic and extensible addition to the firmware - hence sticking my nose in here! I see that using the separate processor and hence a serial interface is the option for the graphic display, it has a lot of advantages for the more complex displays. Obviouby T3P3 - Ormerod
I now have a simple 20x4 character display that works for the Duet. What would be great is if the RepRap firmware future "display" class/es could be designed in such a way that they worked with both your upcoming graphical display and simple displays such as this one. For example having a generic "display" class to handle requests for information and responses in a standard way and then specifby T3P3 - Ormerod
Hi numbersix I don't have a design as yet - it could be a cool community challenge to source one though. It would be nice if it made it clear to go to reprap.org as a community site and was in a form that was very quick and simple to print, yet looked cool for visitors. Tonyby T3P3 - RepRap magazine
Hi iScrat We use the Duet successfully on a mendel90 with 4 materials (Kraken hotend) so it should be fine with the tri colour mendel, just need to make a few firmware tweaks. For more information check out the following blog posts: Mendel90 with Kraken: Working with the RepRap Firmware in Eclipse You dont need to use a Z-Probe if you don't want to, I use the standard Mendel90 endstop confiby T3P3 - General Mendel Topics
I think this is probably the simplest way to do it if you just want wifi: Cheers Tonyby T3P3 - Ormerod
Last year was great so I would encourage as many as possible to come visit or get involved. I noticed last year that a very large number of the printed objects that the RepRap stand's participants brought along were "acquired" by the visitors over the show (we could not print Gnome Chess pieces fast enough). What to people think about printing out a whole bunch of quick to print giveaway items (by T3P3 - RepRap magazine
On other firmware (Marlin Repetier etc) the display code is implemented within the firmware (on a 16mHz, 8bit MCU) this is limiting for Graphic LCDS and Delta bots which are both processor intensive but works fine otherwise. Because the hardware is so simple it has lead to a huge number of different designs, some connected directly and some using port expanders (over I2C). It means you can hook uby T3P3 - Ormerod
Hi David Great if you were to implement this, I have made a start with a 20x4 which is basic and the full graphics display would be better, here is the initial work: What i have been trying to find time to do is the firmware - I have the general idea specced out - a generic display which then talks to specific graphics panel classes which are free to format the information as required. Out of interest do you have EEPROM enabled within one version but disabled within the other? Sometimes the values stored in EEPROM can override those in the firmware.by T3P3 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
